Does anyone call a penis a cock?

I'm wondering because I've agonized over dd and what to call her bits, but haven't given nearly enough thought to dS.

And I'm thinking that I've always liked the word 'cock'. It's .. well, it's cocky. Proud. A bit jokey. But not aggressive at all - at least I don't think so.

Anyone?

No. I say penis. I do refer to ds' testicles as 'balls', though.

Boco · 30/01/2008 22:26

Are cocks not, sort of, well - fully grown mens ones. I thought it would sort of become a cock, when he's 21. But before then, it's a willy.

Maidamess · 30/01/2008 22:27

I think 'cock' is a bit...sexual and grown up for a child to use?

I prefer willy. I never thought I would type that sentence on MN.

sherbydrivinginhercar · 30/01/2008 22:27

Are you serious?

I don't think cock is appropriate for a child learning the name of their penis.

How about willy or penis

Boco · 30/01/2008 22:27

And what did you decide with dd - what do you call her bits. If you're going with cock for ds, then i'm concerned you're also going with pussy.

lazarou · 30/01/2008 22:27

Ds calls his a todger

nortynamechanger · 30/01/2008 22:27

Sorry I think cock is vulgar for a child.

DrNortherner · 30/01/2008 22:28

No way should a child call it a cock. It's a swear word isn't it?

gigglewitch · 30/01/2008 22:28

lol boco - but you have said just what i was thinking.
c'mon bat, it's a willy!

unless we're gonna start a competition for how many words we know for His Bits...

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 30/01/2008 22:29

Crikey... a little boy can't be taught to refer to his penis as a "cock".. that's obscene!

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 30/01/2008 22:29

lol.

willy or penis is fine imo.

If I heard a 4yr old say my cock blah blah I would be [shocked], would be like if dd said fanny or fanjo.
ds calls his willy although he calls his testicles his under crackers

Octothechildherder · 30/01/2008 22:29

There is another thread on this!

willy

sherbydrivinginhercar · 30/01/2008 22:29

It really is a swear word and an common slang word/insult. I can't imagine your childs teachers or friends parents would be too happy you had taught your child to call his penis a cock

lazarou · 30/01/2008 22:29

oh yes, he says widgie as well

Maidamess · 30/01/2008 22:30

See, in my house undercrackers are pants.

suwoo · 30/01/2008 22:31

No, but I frequently call my DH a cock

gigglewitch · 30/01/2008 22:31

btw, my 7yo has recently discovered the word "Nuts" in relation to his erm, balls. although we have told him not to say it outside the house!

harpsichordcarrier · 30/01/2008 22:31

no, it's a bedroom word.
quite aggressive too (e.g. cocksure, cockstand, cock of the walk etc)
penis is a perfectly jolly word imo.

sherbydrivinginhercar · 30/01/2008 22:32

We call testicles his 'boys'

dd2 used to call her dads his key

yummylittlelapin · 30/01/2008 22:34

I say willy. DH says todger. SIL says "penis" sternly

Threadlice · 30/01/2008 22:35

I use the word willy for the dss. But it is too silly a word to use with reference to anyone past puberty. On the other hand, penis is too clinical and cock is too ... well, too much. When I say the word cock it feels in my mouth much like an actual cock does.
I just haven't got a word I am happy with for this part of my DH. It is very (very) hard.
