Does anyone call a penis a cock?

I'm wondering because I've agonized over dd and what to call her bits, but haven't given nearly enough thought to dS.

And I'm thinking that I've always liked the word 'cock'. It's .. well, it's cocky. Proud. A bit jokey. But not aggressive at all - at least I don't think so.

Anyone?

Wriggle jiggle has just answered my question though. Sad, but if that is the case then I'll rethink.

do you call a penis a prick thread here.

You can's say cock. James May says cock.

How about bauble? Vvery Shakesperean. And quim for girls

onebatmother · 30/01/2008 23:39

Quim is so Not Right.
I'm off to bed. I cannot swim against the tide. It will be willy not cock, to match all the other boys.
And I'm questioning my entire understanding of sexuality.

I do think the James May thing is a deal breaker......

dejags · 31/01/2008 07:16

Would be the same as asking a little girl to refer to her vagina as a Cunt or Pussy.

Not appropriate IMHO

branflake81 · 31/01/2008 10:07

Am shocked! You can't call it that!

What's wrong with penis?

SuperGrrrl · 31/01/2008 10:30

by the by, pussy can be taken offensively. it's origin is from the French word for 'fish', referring to lady's er...odour.

i do use the word cock, but between DH and I , certainly not to my boys. We say 'willy' for now and when they're a bit older we'll tell them proper names for people's bits.

morninggirl · 31/01/2008 10:32

imo, cock is a bit offensive when refering to a little boys bits.

onebatmother · 31/01/2008 12:01

ALRIGHT, ALREADY!

I obviously have a TOTALLY different idea of the tone of the word than EVERYONE ELSE!

My family used it (this is the Seventies we're talking about) as a slightly vulgar/cheeky but NOT SEXUAL word!! OKAY?

Thank you all for your (one) opinion!

Boco · 31/01/2008 13:12

Oh OBM

It's a minefield out there.

I think you should stick with shlong.

MrsMattie · 31/01/2008 13:15

I've taught my son the word 'willy' for his penis, but I'm thinking we might introduce the proper word now, as he is curious about girl's bits and I can't bear to teach him any fluffy little nicknames (Fanny. Mary, Minnie etc...wince). So 'vagina' it is and we may as well get him using the proper names for both.

MrsMattie · 31/01/2008 13:15

p.s. Cock to me is a very sexual word...as in 'Suck My...'

LilRedWG · 31/01/2008 13:17

My nephew's is Yoda....

onebatmother · 31/01/2008 13:21

lol Shlong!

I am thinking now my family is even weirder than I know them to be.

In my defence I wasn't thinking right now (DS is 6) but for the future pre-teen-ish times, which I think is when I remember my DB using the word..

You know, I still secretly think you're all HUGE pervoids and I am the sweet leetle innocent here. To me, it's the equivalent of 'balls'.

OP posts:
onebatmother · 31/01/2008 13:22

though not secretly now, obviously

OP posts:
Boco · 31/01/2008 13:27

No don't worry, it can be a secret, i won't tell the others you think they're all pervoids.

But really, you know, it is just you. [wanger]

onebatmother · 31/01/2008 13:34

what does wanger mean and why are you emoting it at me?

OP posts:
jumpingbeans · 31/01/2008 13:37

expat my gd's call their bits "lulu" -when they met a young girl called Lulu, they nudged each other and collapsed laughing, for a boy "winkle"

seeker · 31/01/2008 13:37

I won't tell anybody either....

MegaLegs · 31/01/2008 13:38

Willys and goolies all round here (well except for me obviously)

ahundredtimes · 31/01/2008 13:38

I'm telling everyone.

I'm going to do a thread and demand a sticky.

Now OBM - did you think fanny was bad and grown-up? Did you say that? Fanny. I think it's friendly.

this thread is so funny

Lomond · 31/01/2008 13:41

No! Way to sexual a word for children IMO.

Boco · 31/01/2008 13:42

DDs call their bits a 'minnie' (yes OBM i know that's a bit fou fou and you probably go for something totally hardcore like beaver) But now there's a girl at dds school called Minnie Joy, and dd1 thinks this is hilarious and has pointed out to her friends that this is the same as being called Happy Bottom.
