@MyGrassIsBrowner Morning! How are you doing now lovely? Is the medication hrlping you?

We are at 5 weeks today and in somewhat of a routine. One true night feed around half 2 or 3 and the next isnt until 630 or 7 so blissful and very lucky right now. The build up of 5 weeks has hit me and I feel tired now, but not sleep tired if that makes sense. Trying to settle her now for an hours sleep before I do some cleaning!

Started to feel a bit low and alone so had a chat with DP too and explained how we are ships in the nights atm and we are making an effort to be us at the weekends. Especially whilst this little one is resting and peaceful inbetween feeds! Making the most of this time.

Not ready for maternity pay to kick in, going to be so broke! 😂 Nursery fees can F off for now- not a stress we need as I swear it can bankrupt you with how much it is

mrssunshinexxx · 26/11/2021 12:07

They are adorable ! @MyGrassIsBrowner I'm so pleased you are having the days that make it all feel worthwhile , you are going to be just fine xx
The jewellery business sounds a really good idea and great that you could work it around your family . I won't be going back to work until all babes are at school and then I will probs work for my husbands business doing admin then I don't need to to worry about school hols etc.
Eden is now 2 weeks old and it is my first day solo and we have braved it to play group and a new one at that which always makes me nervous but everyone was super friendly and made me feel like superwoman for being out so that was nice ! Feeling sore and tired now so lunch and toddler in bed and I'm going to enjoy my first bath! X

NW2021 · 26/11/2021 12:59

Hi ladies!
@MyGrassIsBrowner pics are lovely! 🥰
@mrssunshinexxx that sounds like a lovely day. I tried a bath last week, lasted 30 mins before I was needed as a milk machine 🤣😩
@Juicytoot287 I can only dream of that night feed routine!!
I’ve not had the best week, LO is coming up to 4 weeks. We had a few good nights sleeping 2/3hrs at a time but the past 2 nights she’ll fall asleep on me and when I put her down, wide awake 😫 when she does go down she’s only sleep for an hour, hour and half tops.
2am this morning I had a little cry I was just so tired and didn’t no what was wrong with her.
I’m praying it gets better as the weeks go on.

Anyone breast feeding? I don’t know if she’s hungry at night or if it’s trapped wind. She’ll be fast asleep then just burst in to tears. I’ve tried winding her loads but it still happens.
I dunno what else to do

@Juicytoot287 hey lovely! Glad to hear you and bubs are well. The medication is definitely taking the edge off, makes me feel a little less anxious too.

I feel you with the whole ships passing. Me and DP dont sleep in the same bed as we just wont get sleep. We alternate each night, one of us on the sofa the other in bed and tbh it's working. I just miss being next to him and I'm not sleeping hugely well because of the medication, however Macy is a dream when it comes to her sleep I must say.

@mrssunshinexxx Aww thank you!! It's horrible when the other half goes back to work isnt it. I still get a bit sad when he goes off to work.
Take my hat off to you for getting out the house with little one!! I havent dared brave it on my own yet.

@NW2021 hey lovely, hope you are well! I commend you for sticking with the BF. I gave up after the first week, she just wasnt getting a good latch or enough milk from me. I must say though the formula feeding definitely helps them sleep for longer periods. I've got a little guzzler though she's doing 6oz feeds now 😆
Might be worth speaking to the GP, she may have silent reflux. We were prescribed gaviscon sachets which did seem to help a bit but you have to be consistent with them.

Xx

@NW2021 I literally just stuffed her as I didn't want to have to get out before I'm ready 😂 I'm breast feeding she will randomly let out a painful sounding cry like once a night I put it down to wind . The midwifes this time and last time kept saying how you don't need to wind a BF baby it's the biggest load of bollocks I think I've ever heard!
@MyGrassIsBrowner luckily he is home tonight it's fallen well as back into the weekend tomorrow and I think he is working from home next week whic will be great so he can keep lifting the toddler where possible I counted and already today I've had to lift her 10 times and internally it feels so sore. I'm really scared I'm gunna go backwards but I also have to just get on with shit! I find my 16m old so so much easier if we don't stay in all day we both get cabin fever and fall out 😂

NW2021 · 26/11/2021 14:48

@mrssunshinexxx I think that’s the mistake I made I should of jumped in the minute she was fed 😂 one day I’ll have a peaceful bath again 😂 I thought the same about winding! I have to admit I wasn’t winding as much as I should of in the previous weeks because I didn’t think bf babies needed it. How wrong I was!! It’s such a struggle getting get to wind at night as she always falls asleep on the boob. How long is your LO sleeping at night?
I have no idea when it comes to sleeping, I know it’s early days still, but what I’m meant to be doing to get in a routine.

@MyGrassIsBrowner i can’t believe it’s only been 4 weeks, can’t remember a time where my boobs were mine 😂 after last night I’m so ready to give up. We’re latching ok and she’s feeding it’s just who knows if she’s getting enough. Im tempted tonight to give her formula around 11pm feed and hope she sleeps till 2? At the moment she wakes about 8/9 and won’t settle or go down till 2ish. It’s killing me!
I’m trying gripe water tonight see if that helps as well.

mrssunshinexxx · 26/11/2021 15:27

@NW2021 how old is your baby? If you want to ry a bottle of formula then you should go for it but just be wary that can upset there stomach too or atleast to begin with mixing both. It's all a bloody guessing game isn't it ! Mine is only 2 weeks old there's no routine other than a bath then dim lights every night one night she went 5 hours and I was like woahhh she's only done that once usually it's 2/3 hourly xx

Juicytoot287 · 26/11/2021 16:21

@MyGrassIsBrowner Same here with beds. DP sleeps seperate in the week or else he is too disturbed and he has to work and travel quite far so can't risk that. Luckily with her night feeds it is a nice routine so I am not too exhausted. She is still on 4oz, not sure when to go to 5 as sometimes she polished and sometimes not but she does seem content and not hungry. Goes 3 hours in day and 4 at night it seems.

Also, great about the meds, nice to be feeling yourself. I was the same with BFing too, couldnt cope and exhaustion was too much so formula has made me actually enjoy my baby and feeding her! Much easier to get a routine and go out too.

@NW2021 My little one suffered with trapped wind but the bottom end, burps fine. I was told to ask a pharmasist as different meds work different ways ro clear wind so may be worth enquiring?

NW2021 · 26/11/2021 19:33

@mrssunshinexxx she’s coming up to 4 weeks. I’m so desperate I’d try anything right now. We’ve been try gripe water today and she’s defo trumping a lot more today! So think we’re going to leave formula for tonight and pray the gripe has helped.
5hrs what a dream!! Even if it was a one off 😂 mine was doing 2/3hrs which I could hack, I’m hoping she goes back to it tonight 🤞🏻

@Juicytoot287 hearing all the positives about formula routines really makes me wanna give up on bf 🙈 4hrs in between feeds what I would do for that! 😂 I’ll defo ask the pharmacist this week, thanks, mines the same with the bottom end, you can see her turn red and try pushing and getting stressed because nothing comes out. I feel helpless.

I think I’ve just had a bad week and it’s all got to me. I was doing so well keeping positive and getting out and about and it’s just all hit me in one go. Newborns/parenting is so bloody hard!

NW2021 · 26/11/2021 19:35

Thank you all for your help, it’s so lovely to know I can come here and we’re all in similar situations and just to get some advice! 🤍

mrssunshinexxx · 27/11/2021 00:52

Also sleeping separately here @Juicytoot287 @MyGrassIsBrowner only been 2 weeks I really miss him but he is a v light sleeper and has a dangerous job I can't cope with him getting no sleep I would just worry sick he will have an accident at work or driving on the motorway he does a lot of that. He will come back when Eden goes in her own room feels so far off now and. I don't want to rush it but I really miss sleeping next to him and having a cuddle

mooloop · 27/11/2021 09:45

Hey guys Smile it's lovely to hear how everyone is getting on!

Baby mooloop is 2 weeks and 2 days old today. We're breastfeeding and he wants fed every 1.5-2 hours ish still which is HARD. I want to move him onto formula but the HV (although supportive) warned me to do it gradually to avoid mastitis. So far we're just on 1 bottle of formula in the morning and DH gives him a couple of expressed BM through the night so I can get a chunk of sleep. We're cosleeping too as he can't seem to settle in his next to me crib Sad but at least we're getting some sleep! He managed 2.5 hours this morning which was a big achievement for us, I can't imagine what 4 hours feels like, I'm so jealous 😂

summerhillgang · 27/11/2021 10:30

Hi guys, sorry for the absence been a tough couple of weeks.

Ems had a positive on the new born screening for cystic fibrosis with two mutations. We went into hospital to do the sweat test which was negative thank god. She is otherwise healthy and has no symptoms so has been given the diagnosis CFSPID (cystic fibrosis screening positive inconclusive diagnosis) which is the best we could hope for with two mutations, so we just need to crack on and live our lives and hope for the best. It’s been a really hard couple of weeks during what is already a pretty hard time as FTM, so feeling broken mentally and physically. I currently have a cold but piles and swollen knee are on the mend.

On a more positive note, we hired a doula to come a couple of times a week as we have zero family around or support. She’s an angel, and has really helped to settle the baby during the day, got her sleeping in the bassinet during the day and taking her dummy to sooth herself (although she still spits it out most the time), and she’s made us soup, overnight oats, tidies up, baby laundry etc - also currently relearning how to drive (before I subject my LO to terrible driving skills) so she takes her during those times.

I totally hear you on the ships that pass in the night. I do all the nights and DH sleeps in the next room. I really miss cuddling and closeness. But needs must. Ems sleeps next to me right now, I will try to get her in the cot but she’s sleeping so well - 5-6 hours straight, feeds at 4:30am then back to sleep for 7pm wake up. I am going to get her sleeping more regularly in the bassinet pram during the day as she seems to like it and I can rock her to sleep, then once that becomes a bit more established I will try to get her sleeping in the next to me cot so DH can come back into the bed whenever he’s not got a busy schedule with work. I can’t see that being anytime soon though!

Also calling bullshit on BF babies not needing to be winded! I think maybe it’s less needed when you boob them both laying down but they do often wake up screaming as you say @NW2021

@NW2021 sounds like you are doing amazingly with BF. It’s very early days and it does get easier I believe. I think the pumping is good to increase your supply. I give mine an 1-2 oz of warmed expressed milk before bed and it does seem to get her sleeping more deeply. I haven’t expressed for a couple of days as stressed and ill but will get back on it. Absolutely amazing you are out and about at playgroups, my babe is 5 weeks and I haven’t left the house without DH in toe.

@MyGrassIsBrowner sounds like you are doing really good, your babes look so happy and well, and happy you are feeling better with your meds. Ems is doing lots of smiles too, makes it all worthwhile.

mrssunshinexxx · 27/11/2021 10:35

Really sorry to hear that @summerhillgang must be super worrying and stressful my fingers are tightly crossed for your little lady, the doula sounds amazing ! I also have no family or much support I have great friends but I hate feeling like a burden I chose to have these children so feel like I have to crack on which I genuinely would be thrilled to do but I just want to feel better from the section I feel so sore internally from my first day solo yesterday

summerhillgang · 27/11/2021 17:15

Thanks @mrssunshinexxx - has been tough to stomach but the best outcome based on the genetics.

Sending you hugs - c-section recovery sounds really bloody hard. I've been a mess without having to deal with that so I cannot fathom.

We're all still in fourth trimester, we all have to remember to be kind to ourselves and give minds/bodies time xx

mooloop · 27/11/2021 18:42

@summerhillgang sorry to hear that Thanks it must've been a tough couple of weeks for you. You sound like you're doing amazing though!

NW2021 · 28/11/2021 12:06

@mooloop bf is so bloody hard isn’t it! I’m at 4 weeks and finding it so difficult just the amount of times she wants to feed! I’m introducing a formula feed tonight! I feel like I’m giving up but I just need some respite.

@summerhillgang you must be so worried and stressed! Hope you’re ok & sending lots of love.

Juicytoot287 · 29/11/2021 03:01

@summerhillgang Sending you support hun. Sounds like you have the best possible outcome from the tests onwards but mentally that must still be with you and your mothers instinct to worry will be in overdrive. Can't begin to imagine how you feel

I have come down with my first cold in like 2 years. Paranoid I will give it to Emmie and that she will be really ill, and also terrified I can't look after her properly on my own today with DP at work. She is only 5 weeks old :(

summerhillgang · 29/11/2021 11:44

@Juicytoot287 thanks Juicy! Just so glad to be over last week, feeling a lot more optimistic and positive.

Also got a cold - well more of a sore throat with lots of weird mucus urgh. My Ems and my DH has managed not to get it which is surprising, but I am giving her vitamin D drop most days so maybe that has helped her avoid it.

mrssunshinexxx · 29/11/2021 15:11

Day 2 solo parenting 2 children here and successfully made it to playgroup , cleaned the bathroom and put 2 lots of washing away WIN. Defo having lasagna I batch cooked out the freezer for the easy tea. Hate winter it's so bloody cold !!
@NW2021 you aren't giving up you are having a well deserved break can you husband give the bottle so you could have a bath /sleep? X

NW2021 · 29/11/2021 21:06

@summerhillgang @Juicytoot287 hope you’re both feeling better soon! Temperature has certainly changed and cold season!

@mrssunshinexxx well done!! That is a successful day! Luckily last night was a good night! I think I just had a bad few days, I haven’t been out the house for 3 days I didn’t have a day nap it all got to me.
I’be noticed I’m a nightmare if I don’t have a nap in the day 😂 the nights are so much worse! But can’t wait for the day where I don’t need to be napping and can have a full day!

How’s everyone else? Xx

mrssunshinexxx · 30/11/2021 06:05

I always regret not napping but it makes me feel really groggy for a good while so I just sack them off and if I have them both napping I have a bath Or watch trash tv in bed to have a rest or prep tea / do jobs in peace! X

Juicytoot287 · 30/11/2021 06:25

I never want to nap, She doesn't ever seem as asleep in the day until its close to a feed so I always think , eh no point.

I am feeling better but now living in paranoia that she has caught it. Got myself worked uo but apparently newborns get colds and dont always end uo seriously ill lol.

summerhillgang · 05/12/2021 18:42

How's everyone doing?

I've got a cold still, just nothing I do will seem to shift it. Somehow Ems has managed to not get it.

We've been getting the house ready for Xmas today, and I've been practising my parallel parking (we used to live in middle of nowhere but now in a town so I have to learn to drive properly now). Christmas tree is up and starting to feel festive.

We're transitioning from bed sharing to her sleeping in a cot, mostly she goes down ok after some reassurance/cuddles and extra boobing. I have started giving one formula feed just before bed and she's guzzling down 3oz's. She just seemed so hungry at the end of the day, and too exhausted to suck, and I wasn't easily able to fit in expressing that much everyday. It seems to make a difference to how long she sleeps for straight for sure. Which is great. However I am feel so bloody exhausted, but also just feels so normal now.

Finally we also have some decent weight gain last week as she's being monitored because of the genetic issue, 200g, was very proud 🥲

I am getting loads of smiles now, it's really lovely. So nice to see the personality coming through.

I'm doing a few mummy and baby things next week which is a bit scary! Just feels like a whole different world. Also concerned as so many bugs going about. Think I'll just keep her close in the carrier.

Xx

NW2021 · 06/12/2021 13:53

@summerhillgang we’re all good, just very tired! 😂 She wouldn’t go down till 2am this morning 😫 she wakes about 5.30/6.30 for feed and then won’t go back in her crib which is annoying! Luckily OH is still home so he’s been taking her so I can get sleep but next week I’m riding solo so i think I’ll just have to get up at 6.30 😰
I had such a bad couple of nights I’m drained, im introducing formula tonight as well! I said I wouldn’t put pressure on myself to bf but now I feel guilty just even introducing one bottle but if it means we get a few more hours sleep then needs must!
I only said yesterday how normal tiredness feels now 😂
Brilliant news about the weight gain! 👏🏻

We’ve been having some smiles as well, melts my heart 🤍

Is everyone ready for Xmas? I’ve been doing some online shopping on the night feeds 😂 but yet to get the tree up!
