@mrssunshinexxx no harm in trying induction. If it fails you are no worse off and section is still planned so will still benefit you in that regard. Again, I was not atall dilated or cervix ready for mine and within 12 hours I was in labour so if that is what you want - no harm. It might not work but at least it is a plan.

summerhillgang · 08/11/2021 20:05

@Suma2021 echoing everything you've said! I gave birth at 42+4 spontaneously and felt all those feelings prior to that. Baby was 7lb 7oz and ticked all the boxes. My mum was induced at 42 weeks with me, and my partner's mum also the same, aunties all went to 42 weeks and beyond... it's genetic.

I tried everything, to my detriment I would say. I did succumb to sweeps in the end but cervix was already very favourable so I'd say they worked from me. Acupuncture worked for me, but you need someone who has a track record of bringing in labour as there's very specific techniques. I feel like the best thing you can do to bring on labour is completely zone out of the day to day stuff, stop responding to people asking for news so they get the message, just be really careful about what you consume - cut out the news and watch funny films instead, try to laugh as much as you can.
I went into active labour whilst watching Harry Potter and eating a (whole) pizza. 4 hours later my baby was in my arms!

Juicytoot287 · 09/11/2021 03:37

Just had a terrifying dream about the baby. Is anyone else struggling with abnormal levels of worry?! I feel the health visitors and everyone has instilled panic into me and it isn't healthy 😭

Hey guys,

Thank you all so much for your lovely posts. I'm so glad I found this group, the support is invaluable!

@mrssunshinexxx how are you getting on? Hope you're ok Thanks

I've been in very slow early labour since Monday night Confused I'd made it to 2cm when I was checked yesterday morning so I'm hoping I'll at least have a bit of a head start on the induction process tomorrow. I'm absolutely exhausted trying to sleep in between contractions though.

Juicytoot287 · 10/11/2021 10:09

@mooloop at least you are progressing! Fingers crosses not much longer for you

MyGrassIsBrowner · 10/11/2021 12:01

Sorry ladies just catching up on thread. @Juicytoot287 you poor love, are you okay? How are you doing, any signs yet?!

@mooloop Absolutely fab news, great that you're a bit ahead of the game before your induction tbh, you might not have to end up on the dreaded drip!! 🤞 best of luck for tomorrow. I know they say warm baths to ease contractions but I'd avoid it if you can as it can actually slow the process down as you can get too relaxed effectively.

@mrssunshinexxx
How are you getting on love?

Xx

I'm so pleased this thread has been a comfort for you all! It's invaluable to just have a place to rant outside of the real world. X

@mooloop this is exciting!! I echo @summerhillgang I turned my phone notifications off, closed the curtains and listened to 3hrs of funny podcasts with the early contractions I defo think it helped me progress the way I did.

The first week has been a right eye opener for us! I knew it would be hard but the lack of sleep is a killer! I can’t complain to much as she’s really good in the grand scheme of things. The nights are a bit all over the place though, hoping it gets easier as the weeks go on!

mrssunshinexxx · 10/11/2021 13:17

Ah @mooloop you've got this mama! Will soon all be over x

@MyGrassIsBrowner thanks for thinking of me @mooloop still very pregnant had4th sweep this morn cervix still closed at the top started losing abit of plug yesterday but nothing today so over this x

Juicytoot287 · 10/11/2021 13:18

@NW2021 I feel you! Its the waking up for feeds every 3 hours and then feeding for 1 then max. 2 hours before repeat. However, baby girl now goes 4 hours on a night mostly which feels amazing.

DP goes back this week so I am sure the tiredness will set back in as I will be doing all the feeds then - dreading it to be honest! 🙈😂 Nice to pass her over atm.

@MyGrassIsBrowner I am better now, just feels there is so much scare mongering with new mums and it makes you more anxious than you already were. Watch baby like a hawk now haha

NW2021 · 10/11/2021 13:58

@mrssunshinexxx sending you lots of positive vibes and hoping things progress for you soon!!

@Juicytoot287 that sounds like a dream right now 😂 are you breast or bottle? We’re only a week in so I imagine it’s normal but we’re still feeding for about 40/60mins then she’s only sleeping for around an 60/90mins then we start again 🙈 good thing is she is starting to sleep in her crib next to us, if we stay up with her and have her on our chest we are getting 2-3hrs sleep just wish she’s do that in her crib! Hoping that will come with time (like in the next couple of weeks 😂)
Totally agree with being anxious especially FTM, I’ve tried to take the laid back approach but it’s so difficult sometimes not knowing what’s right/wrong. Hoping mother intuition works!

mrssunshinexxx · 10/11/2021 14:36

Thanks @NW2021 I really really hope so I am so excited to meet her

mooloop · 10/11/2021 14:57

Glad you're ok @mrssunshinexxx, we can do this!!

Juicytoot287 · 10/11/2021 15:46

@NW2021 I was breast but we had to do bottle when she was in hospital to get enough fluid in for the UV lamp. Then I got ao paranoid about how much she would take that I couldn't cope with breast as I couldn't see how much. Expressing was too exhausting too, it was just too much pressure on me as I had done 4 days that point in hospital alone so was so tired with no sleep. Literally 54 mins a night my watch said.. so bottle it was. I am upset I couldnt do more but bottle defo takes preasure off as DP stepped up once we got home and that really gets you a break as you can skip a feed whilst they do it and you get a good few hours in a row then.
What has worked for us was I go to bed at 9pm, he does the 10 11ish feed then comes up and I get up at the 2/3 feed and he does the next. That way we both get a good 4 to 5 hours in a row sleep. I advise doing similar if you are bottle feeding and struggling. DP goes back though so this will change And ill be just like you hahaha. She wants to be held so much at the moment but our swing rocker thing helps in the daytime when we can supervise and not leave her in too long

NW2021 · 10/11/2021 20:09

@Juicytoot287 I don’t blame you after what you’ve been through at the start, baby being fed is the most important thing ☺️
I’m going to try express in the next couple of weeks so that we can do something similar.

No one prepares you for how hard these first weeks are!

mrssunshinexxx · 10/11/2021 20:19

Hopefully not much longer for you @mooloop

mrssunshinexxx · 11/11/2021 04:26

Lost mucus plug in one big go at midnight ish and been having contractions since every 10 min or less not a great start as already shattered not been to bed but hopefully will be ok x

NW2021 · 11/11/2021 04:51

You got this @mrssunshinexxx !! Not long now and you’ll be meeting your baby xx

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 11/11/2021 11:36

I totally forgot to update this thread! My waters broke 8 hours before my elective section was due.. and because I have fast labours I was moved to an emergency section at 1am!! We had the most beautiful baby girl weighing 7lb 10oz born bang on 39 weeks. Recovery has been hard but so worth it!

Good luck to those waiting on their little ones x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 11/11/2021 16:23

@mrssunshinexxx good luck!!!! 😁

OP posts:
MyGrassIsBrowner · 11/11/2021 16:25

@ChristmasAtHogwarts I was petrified of that happening to me before my section too, as I have quick labours myself.
Congratulations!! Hope you and baby are doing well. X

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 11/11/2021 16:52

Honestly, 8 hours before what are the chances?! Haha
She is doing really well thank you. I’m having a few wobbles with baby blues and pain after the section but it will pass! Thank you x

mooloop · 11/11/2021 18:13
