@summerhillgang @Juicytoot287 brilliant! Thanks both I’m going to sterilise my pump tonight and give it a go this week

MyGrassIsBrowner · 15/11/2021 11:46

Hiya lovelies, sorry for slow replies. The weekend at my mums was needed it just wasn't long enough lol.
@Juicytoot287 well, I have never heard of a goldador before but a quick google and omg.. they're lovely! I've got a big lazy lanky Greyhound haha.

@summerhillgang hey lovely, hope you're well!
Being a mum is the hardest/most rewarding thing in the world.
I too have a baby who doesn't tolerate being in the bouncer etc. She doesn't particularly like being in the pram either 😑 she lays belly down over the nursing pillow and pretty much only settles on her front.
The piles are pretty horrific too aren't they. I use anusol pretty religiously when mine flare up and after a few days they'll deflate but really the only way they can be treat is surgical removal but I've heard the recovery can be pretty brutal 😳

Isit normal to just feel totally broken body wise ?! Going to sound a right moaner but here goes .. really struggled in third trimester with carpal tunnel syndrome, PGP and a bloody bad back last few weeks felt like I had pulled a muscle at the top of my bum on one side or the baby was laying on a nerve but I was hobbling around with the worst posture. Had a crash course of b12 injections as my levels were very low with this came the most awful headaches. Gave birth on Thurs ended in emc after getting to pushing so I've been through both barrels but I just feel the best word to describe is just ill?! Very headachy is this to be concerned about ? Nauseous presume from lack of sleep, constantly thirsty, so so pale , my back is in bits the nerve pan is still there I've emailed the physio I am under them for 6 months post natal so really hope they can help

mooloop · 16/11/2021 00:51

Hey everyone, been a bit MIA since baby arrived! It's such a whirlwind and the days are flying by so fast.

@MyGrassIsBrowner how are you feeling? Well done for getting support early on rather than letting it fester and become even worse.

I'm another one who's baby isn't keen on being anywhere except being held haha. DH and I are pretty much taking shifts so we can grab some sleep here and there.

I'm mostly breastfeeding but baby's latch seems to have gotten worse since my milk came in, as if he's not able to get enough boob in his mouth so he ends up just on the nipple which hurts, and I worry that he's not getting the right amount from me Sad My boobs are like big sore rocks now my milk is in. I keep thinking would formula just be easier?? But I do want breastfeeding to work, it's tough this parenting lark! Not sure what to do for the best.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/11/2021 01:51

@mrssunshinexxx Oh totally. I felt broken as f*ck after my first birth, for actual months.. that was a vaginal delivery. After this one, I felt great the first couple of weeks considering I had a section but I've now come down from the high and I feel well and truly done over. Every bit of my body aches especially my knees and I've done way too much. My skin has suddenly gone to shit too and I've got a cold sore. Urgh! Please try and get some help if you are feeling low and not coping. Don't try to get on with it cause you can spiral real quick. I know from personal experience! X

@mooloop
I had the same issue with BF this time round, my boobs are literally just too big for my DD so she was just getting my nipple in her mouth as oppose to some nipple AND areola and it hurt so much.
You can establish breast feeding but it depends how determined you are. Personally I turned a corner with both my girls when I put them on formula, they slept better and were more content. Though I'm not saying that happens for everyone. If you boobs are rock hard dont leave them cause you may get mastitis and that is the worst pain imaginable. Express in the bath or shower or get on a breast pump if you have one to relieve it. Hand express after that let down sparodically and slowly your supply should diminish. That's if you want to stop breastfeeding altogether mind you. X

mooloop · 16/11/2021 02:48

@MyGrassIsBrowner weirdly, he's managed the latch much better this evening - babies are odd little monkeys aren't they! I tried my pump for the first time today and it definitely helped, I also tried using it just for a couple of minutes before feeding to try and let a bit of milk out and hopefully make them softer for him.

As someone further along than me after your c section, do you have any top recovery tips? How is Macy doing?

Juicytoot287 · 16/11/2021 03:45

@mrssunshinexxx omg that was the biggesr shock for me. I really thought my body would bounce back but it didnt. I felt punched everywhere. However headaches and paleness I would call GP or midwife as you have had a section and they like to keep an eye for blood loss etc. Better to be safe. I thought I would be fine after my birth but I couldnt really walk and what not. However, nlt sure when but eventually I got myself back :) Body isn't numb anymore and I can do my walks etc.

@MyGrassIsBrowner So glad your mums helped. Make it more regular in the build uolp to xmas I say! You need rest as that clearly is what you are missing. Hopefully now Macy is older she starts sleeping through more too

Juicytoot287 · 16/11/2021 03:46

@mooloop when I stopped breastfeeding my boobs hurt like mad so I feel you then. I did swap to bottle for personal reasons which made me feel horrific guilt but then again, bottle was so much easier and she took really well with it and now drinks loads

mrssunshinexxx · 16/11/2021 04:08

@Juicytoot287 @MyGrassIsBrowner I lost 900ml blood and was anaemic and on liquid iron before so carrying in with that it's the headaches Im most worried about it's crazy but my mum died of a sudden bleed on the brain and she was so fit and healthy I'm convincing myself something bad is going to happen which I know is depressing

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/11/2021 09:23

@mooloop Babies definitely put you through your paces that's for sure ha!
Well in terms of section recovery, all I can say is dont get ahead of yourself like I did. There were days when I felt great and so I'd do loads of jobs in the house, but then suffered horrifically the next day. Realistically it takes at least a year for your body to fully recover from a section and I still have days now were I'm sore. My incision is still pretty numb as well. I did get an infection in mine though and had to go on antibiotics so make sure you're cleaning it daily or twice a day. I've got an overhang now so I have to make sure mine is cleaned and dried often, I use a hairdryer to dry it off after a shower or bath.

@Juicytoot287 I honestly cant wait for xmas this year. We're spending it with my family.

@mrssunshinexxx sounds like you could do with a once over by your dr tbh. It'd be worth asking if you're feeling like this you poor thing x

OP posts:
mrssunshinexxx · 16/11/2021 16:48

Thanks @MyGrassIsBrowner midwife been today and said bp ok and to up my fluids I've emailed the phyiso too x

mooloop · 16/11/2021 17:36

@MyGrassIsBrowner I'm still quite sore tbh, definitely improving but I still don't feel up to doing a great deal yet. It's crazy how much people's recoveries vary, I know some women feel great early on but I'm still taking it slow. Poor DH has to help me in and out the shower still as we have a shower over a (deep) bath and I'm paranoid I'll slip 🙈

The midwife came today for the day 5 checks and little boy has only lost 30g since birth, so I'm over the moon about that after worrying about breastfeeding 💙

Juicytoot287 · 16/11/2021 17:40

Hiya,

No contact for midwife or HV due to time but wondered in any girl moms have had the same. Baby girl has had the "period" which i knkw is normal when she was first home due to hormones. She now has almost like lumps under her nipples. I am terrified but google seems to think it could be hormones. It moves and do feel like my own milk ducts before pregnant but can't help think the worst with noone to call. No point with 111 because they are just reading a script..

mrssunshinexxx · 16/11/2021 22:33

@mooloop aw I had day 5 weigh in today too she's gone from 7lb 12 to 7l!4 also BF so pretty happy with that. My husband took my dressing off today whilst I was in the shower it's looking
Like it's healing well so that's positive as last time it was infection after infection

@Juicytoot287 sorry I've had 2 girls I know about the period but It never happened with either of mine x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 17/11/2021 12:08

@mrssunshinexxx hope you get some headway hun.

@mooloop I dont blame you for taking things slow. I wish I did but I got way too ahead of myself. My whole body just feel wrecked though and strangely I've got painful knees.. standing and sitting omg it hurts so much. Should probably start taking some supplements tbh.
Amazing news about his weight, sounds like you're doing just fine! Keep going girl!

@Juicytoot287 Can you get her seen by the GP? Just to put your mind at rest. I have never had that with either of my girls so I couldn't even reassure you. But definitely worth calling the GP. 111 will be useless for this kind of thing.

I'm really struggling mentally atm 😔 definitely think I've got postnatal depression. I haven't been able to pick up my medication yet as DP has been working and the pharmacy is too far for me to walk to. DP said he will get it tomorrow morning before he goes to work.
Speaking of work, his job is going to shit so he's applying for new jobs. Then to top it off, my mums partner is really poorly. They both got Covid a few months back, but he hasn't fully recovered and has deteriorated quite bad. He's not the man he once was and I'm terrified for my mum as at the moment she's having to do everything for him. They've only just moved into their new house together too. I dont live nearby so I cant even physically go round to give her support. Urghhhhhh.

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 17/11/2021 13:47

@MyGrassIsBrowner oh no! It is good you have reached out and are actively monitoring your symptoms. Could you go stay with your mum a few weeks maybe? Help eachother out and be support. I know it is tricky with your DP but may be best to have that person around in the daytime for both of you.

Also I called the HV today about these lumps - Completely normal and hormone driven thank god! Feel better now. So shit you have no contact outside of working hours for this stuff you know...

MyGrassIsBrowner · 17/11/2021 14:37

@Juicytoot287 it's frustrating as I didn't really want to go down the medication route but I am literally at my wits end and can't carry on feeling like this for the sake of my girls. As much as I'd love to go stay at my mums for a while, she works during the day so then I'd be tending to my girls, the dog AND her partner and I think that would tip me over the edge, genuinely 😅

So glad you got some reassurance and it's nothing to be worried about. Honestly, you never stop worrying about these kids 😆

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 17/11/2021 17:17

@MyGrassIsBrowner Oh no that is not ideal either! I didn't realise she would be out in the day. What a shame for you both. Hopefully the medication helps yoy feel somewhat normality so you can get back to being you. It is still incredibly early on and I think things really shift for you when DPs go back to work
The first 2 weeks are like a bubble and bliss. Then they go back and you are on your own, mentally and physically as you do all the feeds and then the main care for the day. I have taken to keeping busy but the flipside of that is exhaustion so it is a fine balancing act which I am not sure you ever truly can get right - throw that in with a toddler and you have an even harder job so seriously well done for even keeping afloat. As Macy gets a bit older she will start sleeping through more so the worst is mostly done hun, you are doing the right thing and let's be real, all of us are just trying to stay afloat at the moment z

Peacefulspirit · 17/11/2021 18:12

Just checking in with everyone. Big love to anyone struggling. No matter what happens “this too shall pass” the good and the tough stuff, nothing stays the same. Keep asking for help where you need it. Orla is still a poppet, she’s hasn’t poo’d for a few days so we’re all playing Russian roulette at the minute waiting to see who ends up with the job of changing nappy when it finally does happen 😝

mrssunshinexxx · 17/11/2021 22:30

@MyGrassIsBrowner hopefully the medication will help and it doesn't have to be for the long term if you don't want it to be just think of it as temporary and hopefully it will help all aspects for you, will you be going back to work/ we're you working before baby I know you have another young child x

Hungryinthefridge · 24/11/2021 15:01

@Peacefulspirit do you find Orla doesn't poo for ages, then does 2 in a day? Tammy tends to do that haha.

How is everyone doing? Everyone has birthed their babs now haven't they?!

mrssunshinexxx · 25/11/2021 17:42

How is everyone doing ?
@MyGrassIsBrowner how are you?
Little Eden is 2 weeks today can't believe it , husband back to work tomorrow I'm nervous but not about looking after the both but becayse internally my tummy still feels really sore but the idea of staying in alllll day with my toddler makes me want to cry it's just tantrum after tantrum if she isn't occupied

MyGrassIsBrowner · 26/11/2021 08:34

Hiya ladies, gosh I can't believe we're nearly into December already! What the hell!!
How are you @mrssunshinexxx? I'm doing pretty well thank you. The days are long with two under two but I'm getting there. Some days I just wanna scream and run away but then I'll have a really good day and I'm reminded how worthwhile it is, even the shitty days.

Macy is on anti-reflux formula now and we're having amazing success with it. It's a lot thicker so lies on their tummies heavier and a lot less likely to come back up when you burp them!
We're getting loads of smiles out of her now which is just lovely!! (See pic!) 😊 Scarlett is amazing with her, if she cries and I'm out of the room for whatever reason, she jumps on the sofa next to her and strokes her head.. it's quite endearing considering she's only 19 months old!
Safe to say I'm one very proud mama!

@Juicytoot287
@mooloop
@summerhillgang

How are you ladies doing?

@mrssunshinexxx forgive me, I never answered your question previous about me working! I worked in retail for 9 years before I fell pregnant. I left retail to work in a jewellers that then went into liquidation, then not long after that I fell pregnant with Scarlett so I haven't been in work for a good couple of years now. I'm lucky that I can be a SAHM until the girls are in school. I'm actually looking at setting up my own jewellery/accessory business in the next year or so. Means I can hopefully bring some extra money in and have flexibility around the girls going to nursery etc.
Jesus dont even get me started on nurseries... it's soooook expensive! I understand why so many women quit work to raise their children! Xx
