MIL driving me insane re breastfeeding

Please help! My MIL seems to be obsess with me stopping breastfeeding! I'm 4 months pp and EBF. She didn't BF any of hers (apparently tried but they were too hungry....) anyway - every-time I see her, she asks "how much longer you going to keep this up" referring to breastfeeding MY baby! Goes on about how it causes a child to become too needy on the mother and will end up that my child grabs at my b00bs or demands "b00b" I am
Becoming SO aggravated now! Why would she be so obsessed with me stopping!!! Why does she care!!!! I find it so strange that I find myself lost for words and i don't really say much back... but then get home and become so angry at myself for not having a good come back!!! All she is doing is encouraging me to keep going and going! My child will be 10 before I stop at this rate!!!!! Any ideas on why she is so obsessed?! Or how I can deal with this?! Thanks v much!!

What argument?

@CallmeHendricks My works a slow a the moment and this piqued my interest too, so this is what I found yesterday:

journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0210838

This is the conclusion from the study:
The findings from this study indicate a persistence of sociodemographic inequalities in breastfeeding initiation between groups of mothers in GB from 1985 to 2010. These inequalities were hidden among the increasing rate of breastfeeding initiation at the population level. This increasing rate was most likely driven by the increasing prevalence in the childbearing population of those groups of mother who are consistently most likely to breastfeed. Consequently, the needs of mothers who are least likely to initiate breastfeeding–younger mothers, those with less education, those from lower socioeconomic groups and those of white ethnicity–may have gone unmet by general population-based approaches to support breastfeeding. There remains a need for more targeted interventions to bolster the breastfeeding knowledge, skills, and emotional and practical support for the groups of mothers with unmet needs. Such prioritisation may contribute to increases in GB’s relatively low breastfeeding rates through the universal improvement of breastfeeding practices.

@Luckytattie

What argument?
The argument as to whether the OP's mother-in-law being anti-breastfeeding is a generational issue or not.

I haven't read the thread, but I would find this intensely annoying!!! Stick by your gut feeling.

If she mentions it again, ask if she has milk in her tea, if yes, then respond that that is also breastmilk and she is an adult. Only it's from another species, surely more weird, shouldn't she be stopping by now? Good luck ♥️

Ah I see!

@hotmeatymilk

DH doesn't see the big deal as he says "you will just do what you want, so why are you bothered by what she says/ thinks" which is correct Because she’s saying it over and over a fucking gain, and it’s about YOUR body and YOUR baby and YOUR choice.

I’d go on MIL strike until she shut the fuck up. And also squirt right in her eye.

Grinright in the eye PMSL
