TRIGGER WARNING - suicide attempt

She's taken an overdose. And it's my fault, I left my medication where she could find it. Shit, shit, shit.

I’d imagine her mind isn’t quite on consistency of posting places for some reason .

UPDATE -

She's still in hospital. She has pneumonia and they aren't happy with her bloods, think she might need different antibiotics. So no discharge today which is disappointing, but she's in the right place for now.

We have to book a one hour slot per day to visit her, but I managed to sneak onto the ward unseen so I'm just hanging out with her for the afternoon 🥰

Don't be daft @JackOfGentleman Mumsnet threads are the least of your concerns!

Impressed to hear you've ninja-ed yourself onto the ward Grin

Plumtree391 · 07/09/2021 15:16

Thanks Jack. I'm glad you've managed to sneak in. Let's hope the right antibiotic treatment is found swiftly.

Did you don a maintenence workers outfit and push a trolley with mops and brooms to be incognito like they do in the movies whilst sneaking into places they aren't supposed to be?🧹🧹🪠🪣🧽

Wahooooooo · 08/09/2021 07:43

How's she doing today @JackOfGentleman? Hoping she's making a good recovery.

JackOfGentleman · 08/09/2021 23:05

She is, thank you. Her breathing is easier and her body aches less.
We've also picked up her kitten today! Hopefully it will act as a therapy pet. (We've got two other cats so I know what I'm doing). And she has been so much happier since we picked it up Smile

In other news, we're trying to get her registered and seen with The Priory, but there's a 4-9 week waiting time! They've asked for a copy of her current records from the GP so I suppose it depends on the clinical needs of the patient?

4 weeks might be manageable, but not 9.

Sadly not! Just held my head high and marched in like I had every right in the world to be there and made eye contact with the nursing staff 😂 Nobody approached me!

The kitten is a great idea! Nothing like those little triangular tails, body shaking purrs and falling asleep anywhere/any time to distract your dd with their cuteness! I hope the priory wait is shorter rather than longer.

We’re trying to get an ADHD assessment for our son at the moment. Earliest he can be seen (privately) is December. Several clinics said they just weren’t taking on ANY new patients. The mental health profession is in crisis as the mental health impacts of Covid are settling in. It’s a nightmare. While you are waiting, lots of walks (if she can manage it) and distraction - I’m sure you’re on it. Sneaky mindfulness is good too - the colouring books are nice or there’s a series of books called ‘The mindful art of….’ and then a variety of topics. They are really lovely and quite inspiring. The sleep stories on the Calm app are very helpful if either of you are struggling with sleep. Hope some of that helps.

Wahooooooo · 09/09/2021 07:16

Ps disappointed to hear no boiler suit and mario-seque moustache. Can’t believe the movies lied to us and that isn’t how you get into hospital wards.

Thank you so much for the advice. I think all we can do is explore all the treatment options available and try and keep her mind calm in the meantime.

Also......obligatory kitten photo!

Please think carefully about the priory - exH and I paid for one of our DC to go there for 2 weeks. Ex's suggestion, he would pay etc etc. In the end he asked that I pay half IIRC it was £8k per week. Peanuts for exH, not for me.

We had great hopes - but towards the end of the two weeks we were told DC needed longer there, (not an option). They put them on a different med which is harder to get and really seemed not to help as much as the meds from the MH team.

Nothing is compulsory - everything is up to the patient to engage, so mine seems to have a had a VERY expensive holiday in a nice stately home. We weren't expecting a miracle - but we were expecting some intensive 1:1 therapy which simply didn't happen.

I wish we'd spent the money on some intensive therapy locally.

LemonViolet · 09/09/2021 11:27

Hey OP good to hear update and welcome little kitten! What has she name her? She could be a Phoenix 😻

JackOfGentleman · 11/09/2021 16:08

Ohyes - she wouldn't be an in-patient, just accessing their psychiatric care and counselling on an ongoing basis.

But yes, we will be exploring every avenue.
