@1990shopefulftm the window is 3.2m wide 🤦🏽‍♀️ And has no return / reveal. So won’t fit a roller / gro blind or anything. I’ve had several different companies look at it. I’ve ended up getting custom made perfect fit blinds. The only solution to ensure light doesn’t bleed around the perimeter. The groblinds are good though we have one for overnight stays. Would the injection be an option for you? A lot of my friends say it’s good. Although I can’t really have anything either, so I’ve not really got any experience.

1990shopefulftm · 09/05/2021 13:49

@DressingGown87 No it's not a good option unfortunately as I got irregular bleeding on the mini pill so it's apparently likely on the injection.
Hope they re a good fit for the window

We bit the bullet and got him in his own room last night, couldn't stop staring at his monitor for a good hour till I went to sleep but he woke up seemingly loving looking at his wall decorations so seems like we made the right choice.

@1990shopefulftm Snap! I'm so glad it went well for you! We also bit the bullet and put DS in his own room last night. Still in his next2me as cot hasn't arrived yet. He still had a ridiculous split night where he was awake for 2 hours (still struggling with his awful catnapping in day which I guess is why) but he didn't need me so I left him to it. Woke me for a feed at 3 then up at 7, so could have been worse and is definitely the right decision. Just have to sort out his naps but no idea how.

1990shopefulftm · 10/05/2021 13:14

@BlueLilyLilyBlue sounds like a step in the right direction for sure.
We don't really have set nap times at the moment, he just gets 2 hours in at random parts of the day, really not sure when I ll try naps in his room as naps in the prams working for us at the moment.

Went to a mum and baby group this morning so actually got to sit and talk to other mums which was wonderful to finally get to do, as his music class we ve been going to is only half an hour and everyone normally rushes off. DS even got to use a swing for the first time.
It's looking like soft plays in England will reopen soon, fingers crossed we can do so much more now with our babies.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 10/05/2021 16:29

Just marking my place so I can find it on the app and try and catch up

GhostWorld · 14/05/2021 19:30

My LO has got 3 (3!!!) teeth coming in poor thing, how's everyone finding teething? It is LOUD in this house ha

krissy12 · 14/05/2021 20:06

@GhostWorld poor thing. I feel like we have been teething for ageees but no teeth yet had the dentist the other day and they said it could be another couple of months Confused

DressingGown87 · 14/05/2021 23:36

@GhostWorld it’s been horrible here too. We have got 3 out the 4 now, hoping the last (for now) isn’t too many days / nights away. What are you using?

GhostWorld · 15/05/2021 17:09

I've got some ambisol which has been really good, and I had to give some calpol the other day. I also got some of those dummy things you put fruit in and they came with a little plastic thing that goes on the end of your finger which has been really good, sort of like a toothbrush

BlueLilyLilyBlue · 21/05/2021 16:30

Has anyone got any suggestions for toys that their babies love? DS can't crawl yet but now he's sitting he's not that interested in his play gym and he's really bored of all his stacking rings etc. He needs constant entertainment and gets bored quickly, even with his jumperoo. My friends only suggestions were messy play but when I'm already cleaning up constantly after meals I don't think I could cope with it every day Grin

krissy12 · 21/05/2021 16:44

@BlueLilyLilyBlue we have a ball pit which he absolutely loves he sits in it and plays with the balls and if I need to pop out the room I put him in it with some extra toys and it keeps him in one place

Laur89 · 21/05/2021 17:07

Hey everyone has anyone tried amber teething bracelets/anklets to help with teething?

DressingGown87 · 21/05/2021 21:24

@BlueLilyLilyBlue we have a jumperoo, which she is going off now that she can sit and shuffle. Building blocks, books, stacking cups, learn to crawl ball, rattles, and a drum see to be her favourites. Along with hats!! She also has a sit in Walker which she moves around in, and just got her a stand up one.
The water mats (draw) are good, but a bit young yet as the water pen just goes in her mouth. We have booked messy play baby sessions, as I couldn’t deal with the mess at home.

@Laur89 I got one off a friend who highly rated them, but didn’t see a difference.

Strawberries4days · 26/05/2021 09:58

@BlueLilyLilyBlue we got a ball pit that she loves. You get ones that's like a tent on Amazon, I don't think they'll protect against UV rays but it's handy to take outside I think!

We've had our first word on Monday! She started saying "Dad"
Typical it's not "Mum" first😂 her little voice is the cutest though😍

GhostWorld · 26/05/2021 20:18

My LO loves anything he's not allowed ha, a plastic water bottle is his favourite at the moment. He has started crawling already so it's impossible to keep him still and interested in anything. I've got to buy some stairgates and start nailing furniture to walls etc, it's already exhausting following him around haha. Hes outgrown his next to me cot, what's everyone else moving on to? I'm looking at floor beds as I like the idea of getting him to sleep and then rolling away rather than trying to put him down in the cot.

krissy12 · 27/05/2021 07:31

@strawberries4days congratulations on the first word even if it was dad haha we don't have any words here just a lot of shouting

@ghostworld we've just moved into a cot bed in his own room there's so much more space although I think he thinks it's a playpen always spinning round and rolling

GhostWorld · 28/05/2021 12:01

Just to say if your LO has a cold, the calpol plug ins are great! Definitely recommend

DressingGown87 · 30/05/2021 08:16

Anyone any advice on how to extend daytime naps from the 30minutes? Paige isn’t sleeping day or night longer than one cycle, and won’t settle in the night for hours on end. This started when she was teething and full of a cold, and seems to not have stopped. We are both exhausted and miserable. She’s also refusing to take more than 3oz on a bottle (was on 7/8oz), is loosing weight, and refusing any food. This has been going on weeks now, and it’s getting worse.

Buttonsandbits · 30/05/2021 08:35

@DressingGown87 similar boat to us...terrible patch in terms of sleep and fussiness around feeding as well...we’ve ended up doing controlled crying this week and had much better nights as a result going from six/seven to one or two wake ups but it’s made the length and timing of naps all over the place. Didn’t want to resort to it but feel like nothing else was working and we've had weeks of exhaustion. Is Paige still teething? My mum seems to think this age is the worst period as everything’s going on at once and said in her experience 6-9 months is usually the worst for sleep and routine. I’m hoping it passes for you soon! Does she still seem healthy and happy in the day?

DressingGown87 · 30/05/2021 09:03

@Buttonsandbits I had seen your thread, so glad CC is semi working for you. She seems to settle herself off to sleep for naps and at bedtime in the cot no problem, but will wake and not settle herself again. Nor can I settle her with rocking, milk, shh / pat. I’ve done a week of CC now in the night waking, which has got to the 2/3hour mark and I’ve given up. There has been 2 days in the last 3 weeks where she has had 1hr-2hr naps in the daytime plus her shorter naps, them nights she slept through / one waking. Which is why I’m trying to extend naps. I can’t see any of the signs for teething, the ones she cut are fully through and prominent. In the day she will be happy for about 15minutes and then the crankiness starts / rubbing her eyes / refusing to do anything. It does seem like the worse stage.

Mc3209 · 30/05/2021 23:31

@DressingGown87 re feeding, I can recommend a book by Rowena Bennett 'Your baby's bottle feeding aversion. problems and solutions'. Her way works. Although mine is not bottle fed, I am applying her principles to breastfeeding and solids, and it's going well (we had a wee glitch about 2 months ago with feeding).
And with sleep, the only thing that works for me is co-sleeping.

Thanks all for toy suggestions! I've gone for treasure basket (I.e. random items around house) and ball pit is arriving this week Grin Still has the attention span of a goldfish.

@DressingGown87 sorry to hear sleep is rubbish- my DS has only just recently stopped doing 30 minute naps for every nap. Like Paige it was making him overtired and affected nights. One thing I did try which might have helped is leaving him in his cot for the hour - as in whether he's asleep or not he stays there for that period. If he cries I go in, cuddle and leave. Not sure whether that's helpful. He usually has at least 40 minutes now. My friend had a lot of success with wake to sleep. Solidarity though, it's so so frustrating when they wake after 30 minutes clearly still so tired. I hope it gets better for you soon.

krissy12 · 03/06/2021 18:04

hoping everyone is doing OK I'm looking for advice on dropping bottles. we're now on 2 meals a day breakfast and dinner with sometimes a bit of fruit or sandwich at lunch if we're eating but wouldn't count lunch as a meal just now. Still doing 4 bottles-9oz at 6am, 11.30 and 19.30 with a 7/8oz at 16.00. I'm not sure when to start cutting a bottle as he's finishing them

Sls668 · 03/06/2021 21:35

@krissy12 I can’t tell you the answer I’m afraid but I’m keen to see what others say as my baby messes around so much on her milk feeds now (she’s bf).
