weekend's over and the mummys are busy again

had a busy night again! fed him at 9.30 and he woke 11/2/3-4/5/7up (3-4 he was working on a present and it was "hard" work) BUT i know now he doesn't need his nightfeed! i offered as usual and he refused again (3rd night!)
so i "only" have to work on the waking up bits rolling eyes - if it was only that simple!!

but he seems much happier again. talking and laughing and making weird noises
i was convienced ds has been abducted by aliens and they replaced him!!!

i got myself a handblender (grrrrrrr at dp; he broke it!! it's still working though ... fingers crossed) - and it's just fab! got one 3-1 (argos) - with a little "foodprocessor lookalike" for herbs - that's what i mainly use!

linnet: it's nice to know it's finally over the jabs! for now at least! - i couldn't convience my dp to go with ds for his jabs grmpf

nothing wrong about starwars or buffy
loving it!! - ds has to watch angel at atm though and stargates
does it show that we are scifi's???
well for now; until he starts understanding anyways ...

utoh libb!! funny already???

GeorginaA · 19/10/2004 08:28

Thank you Judd! Will play around with that tonight then.

well we have original star wars video set, the director's cut video set and the newly released DVD set of the first 3 (episodes 4 to 6) and attack of the clones

I am not so keen on Star Wars TBH but am a Buffy fan (hence DS having Riley as a middle name .. although I make it out its for 'life of Riley' LOL) and an Angel fan and I quite like Star Trek too (all versions ) .. LOL .. thought it was just me ... also don't get me started on my Asimov, Le Guin, Pratchett et al books

twigeletitt - another weirdo here
omg asimov! great! - think i read the stories when i was so 18?

nice one with raley - that shows the true fan!!!

libb · 19/10/2004 08:59

I must admit that I do like the name Willow and would've been tempted had we not had a boy - DP hates Buffy et al because it doesn't involve pretty little boys pointlessly kicking a ball of air around whilst suffering near fatal injuries from a blade of grass. However he does like blockbuster sci-fi films so there is one saving grace afterall.

Twiglett, I love Asimov but can never get on with Pratchett, which surprises me as I usually like that kind of thing. I like Jeff Noon too. I think DP almost changed his mind when I moved in, his 6 books are now lost in a wall's worth!

DP has an inner geek that rears its head sometimes, whereas I am blatant in my geekiness . Poor old DS will grow up to be very confused by his Mum and Dad - we are poles apart at times but it seems to work.

SusiS · 19/10/2004 09:22

lol libb! very similar here! dp still can't get over the fact how many books i brought into the house

atm i read the new book from patterson - great!!
well, that is when i get time to read! mostly when i go to bed .. and after a few pages i fall asleep grmpf

spots · 19/10/2004 09:37

This for Georgina:: my mum tells me that my aunt once left my cousin in his baby door bouncer while she went to gt a cup of tea. When she got back he had somehow contrived to get the whole apparatus turned upside down and was merrily bouncing on his head...

DD was fine in the childminding experiment. In fact seemed quite underwhelmed by my reappearance. Cheek of it.

Glad Lucas is better, Susi.

SusiS · 19/10/2004 11:44

ooops! i almost typed away in the april thread

phewwwww, ds is keeping me in my toes today!!
had only 40min nap and is very active since!
constantly rolling onto his front and when i come around and call him a "cheeky monkey" - he just lifts his chest high up and laughs at me
and here we go again
hahaha he doesn't even call me anymore; just lying there and waiting for me to find out he's done it! and then he laughs his head off
phewww, they do get more active - don't they just??????

georgina: read yr post in april
i can sympathise! ds is outside the blue line (100?) - but heightwise too! (76cm) - so i am not really worried

kbaby · 19/10/2004 12:03

A ok night for us. Well at least compared to the others I bf dd at 5pm gave her a bath and solids at 7pm and then bf her again hoping this may fill her up. She went down to bed at 8 no problems and I decided to get a early night and not to wake her for a 11pm feed. She slept until 12.30 and I fed her and then slept until 4.30. Its always the same time each morning. She was again playing in her cot for 30 mins and then cried. The only way I can get her back to sleep is to feed her because shes too awake to just cuddle to sleep. I wish she would learn to go to sleep on her own.

I was speaking to a mum at baby group yesterday and she just did cc with her 8month old. She did it because he wanted rocking to sleep. The first night it took 15 mins 2nd 10 mins and then he settled himself and has done every night since. If I thought it would only take 15 mins I think I could do it but what if dd cries for 2hrs. I think i would crack and then its not fair on her to have made her cry that long for nothing. I really hop this is just a phase.

I think I win the contest for having a star wars geek. DP wants a storm troopers outfit. Yes you did read that right. He says he would make money as pople would hire him out at the start wars conventions they have. Hes not happy that I gave a definete no. They cost 7oo pound. Who in their right mind would spend that much on a bloody costume. Plus he would look a right prat
I think hes gutted we didnt have a boy as he had visions of sitting on a sunday afternoon going through the collection of star wars films. Oh one other thing, when the 1st new one came out he actually went to new york to watch it in the cinema as it didnt come out over here until a month later. You can tell I havent seen a single one as I dont even know what they are called. Not really a sci fi person.

Im trying to make the most of this week as I start back to work on Monday I really dont want to and have heard rumours that my Manager has left and I will be reporting to someone who is on the same level as I am but because I wasnt there shes been made acting manager. Never mind I supose its a job. Dont know how i'm going to fit everything in in the evenings ie cooking, cleaning, bathing DD. DP and I have made a arrangement that one night I bath and give dd her dinner and put her to bed while he does dinner and cleaning and then the next night we swop. Otherwise i would end up doing dinner, cleaning and getting dd's things ready for grannies while he gets to spend all night with dd.

kbaby · 19/10/2004 12:05

We have the opposite prob to georgina. DD didnt gain any weight again this week. Shes stayed the same. Shes dropping in centiles now and its just below 25th. Shes still 13lb 14oz at 20 weeks.

GeorginaA · 19/10/2004 12:24

I'm confusing everyone by gatecrashing the other thread, aren't I?!

Nope my babies were skinny little runts although ds1 loves his food and always has, he only had a little while of being a chubster (and even then only looked chubby - was still only 25% on the centiles) and then went slim. Ds2 is a little stockier but still petite. No idea what his weight gain is at the moment... can't be arsed to take him to the weigh ins

Ds2 was EXTREMELY cute this morning. He woke early so while we were waiting for ds1 to wake we had him lying on our bed while dh and I smothered the babe with kisses. He then started smacking his lips together in a sort of kiss sounding noise and looked very proud of himself - really really cute

Jury is out on the tippitoes. Tried it with him and I either manage to get him suspended miles above the carpet, or with his feet flat on the ground!! I'm out of practise with the thing. Ds2 didn't look that enamoured either... oh well, will try him again tomorrow.

Got a splitting headache this morning from the old prescription glasses. Get the new ones Thursday...

kbaby - you tell your dh that girls can be just as much sci fi nuts as little boys... I spent many a Sunday watching old films with my dad (not just sci fi - clint eastwood movies too...)

OP posts:
prufrock · 19/10/2004 12:40

Egypt - lots of babies prefer pear to apple - it can be too acidic
Libb - hate to tell you but dd had a screeching pteradactyl stage (I'd actually forgotten that we used to call her pteradactyl girl until I read your earlier message) and it lasted unril she was about 7 months. You get used to it though.

DD (2.6) still fits in the bumbo too - she often turfs ds out of it. I think the weight restriction is because heavier babies can make it topple over - toddlers obviously topple it deliberately.

Cat82, where are you? We are 30 minutes south of Cambridge

libb · 19/10/2004 13:41

Thanks a bundle Prufrock . . . actually it doesn't bother me because I am at work in the afternoon when he tends to start - it does bother one of his older girlfriends at the childminder's though. She most indignant about "that noisy baby" disturbing her afternoon nap!

I have just had a surreal moment, the church bells have just told me that it is 5 o'clock - flipping heck!

SusiS · 19/10/2004 14:16

okok kbaby you win - mine is not such a geek! - but loves everything scifi! (well, so do i - can ds curtainly can't escape )
good on you to swap each evening! and make the most out of this week

since ds is a very wriggly baby he deffinitly will topple the bumbo
so just have to wait then till he can sit on his own ... will take aaaaaaaaaages

lucas is just so happy today!!! laughing all the time. at anything and everything! and talking and babbling and wriggling and giggling!
so hopefully we are back to normal - coldwise!
still the other cough and sniffle but doesn't sound like darth vader anymore

linnet · 19/10/2004 14:38

Kbaby don't worry your dd's weight sounds fine. My dd1 was 13lbs 15oz at 22 weeks. In her book it looks as if she gained weight quite slowly but nobody ever said anything about it at the time. I don't know what centile she was on as a baby as they didn't do the centile charts here then, but I notice that every time dd2 is weighed they mark it on a chart in her book. DD1 is now a healthy 7 year old. She's very slim and getting trousers to fit her round the waist that don't fall off is a favourite past time of mine . She definitely takes that from dh not me. I think dd2 may take after me slightly more on the chunky side.

Georgina, I'm battling with the green wall now you know. That game is so addictive but so much fun, better than Puzzle Donkey. Do you have any more for when this game is finished? where on earth do you find them?

Been for my driving lesson, made a complete hash of the 3 point turn. I guess I shouldn't have had those 2 weeks off for a holiday, lol He made me drive back to my street and I had to drive in and turn then park, I live at the top of a cul de sac so I had to go down to the bottom and come back up. I was so nervous doing that thought all the neighbours were watching me, I'm sure they were all eating lunch though, I'm just a bit paranoid.

Planning on doing some potatoes for dd2 tonight to put in freezer and might do some apple as I have some in the house. Need to get organised with this.

cat82 · 19/10/2004 15:11

Prufrock- how wierd! that's EXACTLY what we call kiera! lol. I live in Cherry Hinton. About 15 mins outside of cambridge.

Egypt- kiera doesn't like apple either. In fact the only thing she seems to eat is banana. She loves it!

Kbaby-lol! a storm troppers outfit?! brilliant.

I don't see what everyone else does in the sci fi department. Though i have watched all of the Star Wars, i didn't enjoy them very much.
I did have a boyfreind once who could Speak cling on!!

Georgina-hmmmm i wonder if Kiera will need glasses then. I'm as blind as abat without mine, but it never really occured to me. Dp has perfect sight though.

Libb-i've been meaning to ask where you work? Kiera's middle name is Willow. We were thinking about naming her Willow, but we thought it was maybe a bit much. Having said that, i actualy like it more and more as a first name. Maybe next time libb?

Well we have met our puppy- to- be's mummy-to-be, at a dog show at Woodgreen. She won! May just cannot come soon enough. It wierd to think we're all getting excited about a puppy that hasn't even been conceived yet!

We tried a bit of controlled crying this morning for sleep time and it worked Hurrah! she went to sleep on her own. We have just had a hellish hour and a half, where she just screamed and screamed. I fed her, changed her, put calgel on her gums, temperature's fine etc. I just put her in her chair for a nap and she is still sniffling, but not as bad as she was. I have a splitting headache now...when does this get better??!!

Hope everyone's okay

xxxx

libb · 19/10/2004 15:39

Cat, I work for the Magistrates Court. I think we chatted about this when we met - glad to know I was so enthralling - he he, just pulling your leg

Prufrock, I had no idea we are all so close to Cambridge as we are - next you will be telling me that I bumped into your partner at the Rosie with Kira in arms (Cat knows what I mean!). Cat, I still find it odd that I met your DP and DD before I met you . . . .

cat82 · 19/10/2004 15:46

i know libb, very, very bizarre!!!

I remember now, you get some sad cases.

You did enthrall me-of course-but 3 pints of stella...and it was such a long time ago....

Really, really must do that again, if you're up for it. Maybe in an evening, and perhaps even gasp babyless?

And Prufrock if you'd like?

xxx

libb · 19/10/2004 15:48

You all talk so fast! my apologies to Linnet and Prufrock as I got you both round the wrong way so to speak . . . sorry . Tis all the references to Cambridge and Kiras/Keiras that muddled me.

libb · 19/10/2004 15:50

sounds good to me - another mini meet up would be good (I don't remember you drinking Stella? . . . )

cat82 · 19/10/2004 15:51

....That's because you were downing wine

libb · 19/10/2004 15:59

Mmm, wine . . . that was such a good afternoon - apart from the rain! we should go for it again soon - one nice thing about my holiday being from April to April is that I still have 16 days to use up (having extended mat. leave with 1 week's worth) so maybe we could arrange something? I think I might make it my personal quest to sample every meal in CB2! although the Boatrace is looking very nice too these days . . .

cat82 · 19/10/2004 16:04

Ooh ooh yes! What's it called now?....the Vine or something. I've been wanting to go there for ages.
It was a fab afternoon the rain just forced us to stay in...and drink more

Egypt · 19/10/2004 17:03

just kind of caught up on your msgs. my sister has been here for 2 days. you really need a baby to not be around when reading 2 days worth of posts, there's loads.

anyway, got a growbag from asda thanks twiglett, but may peruse the kiddicare site.

not too bad a night in comparison to lately. she went from 8.00 to 12, so i had bursting boobs. actually had them all day. she has gone 3-4 hours between feeds and wont have any before. has now started biting my nipple if not hungry!!!!!!
