Egypt .. did you get the gro-bags .. there's some back on kiddicare for 12.99 as an extra deal again (got farmyard animals in 6 - 18 months)

cat82 · 18/10/2004 14:43

Twiglett and Egypt, I got those gro bags, they're really good Kiera likes them. And the farmyard one comes with a little red dog in the pocket as well

libb · 18/10/2004 14:46

A little red dog - dagnammit, just placed an order last night - do you think I can add on to it?

I think I have popped my friend's Galt Activity Ring I only borrowed it because mine had popped. I also broke the washing machine yesterday by putting the throw from the sofa in ....it was way too heavy. The whole drum has just dropped about 3 inches and is well and truly shot at. I have humbly suggested I go without New Boots for my birthday to contribute towards the replacement wm (but am hoping DH won't make me )

GeorginaA · 18/10/2004 15:51

Well fortunately, I'd forgotten, but I took out insurance when I bought the glasses, so I'm hoping that's covered...

Oh Judd... sounds like you're having a day like mine hugs

Twiglett · 18/10/2004 18:31

Susi

how can your DS be too big for a bumbo?

My DS fits in DD's bumbo .. my DS is 3.8

sorry that people are having bad days .. but could be worse .. could be me

Judd · 18/10/2004 19:04

Nope, Twiglett, I'm with Susi on the Bumbo issue. Tried to fit DS's massive ass into one at a friend's house and failed miserably!

Twiglett · 18/10/2004 19:06

so my almost 4 year old has a smaller bottom than your nappy-clad 5 month olds? hysterical

GeorginaA · 18/10/2004 19:31

My 3.6 year old can fit in our bumbo too... god I must breed really skinny children

Either that or the fact he's saying "I'm hungry" every five seconds is actually true...

OP posts:
SusiS · 18/10/2004 19:57

i never tried one actually - but it says "up to 10kg!"

judd: hope hour "nightmaretime" is over now!!!

G: good news on the glasses front

cat82 · 18/10/2004 19:57

Relax Georgina, i think kiera will be in hers when she's 18

GeorginaA · 18/10/2004 21:03

BTW... has anyone got the tippitoes doorbouncer thing? I've managed to wash it and put it all together, but could do with someone who DIDN'T throw away their instructions (silly GeorginaA) to tell me:

a) what the weight restrictions are
b) what safety precautions you're supposed to take
c) which bits you're supposed to adjust when putting them in it.

I could probably work it all out on the fly, but I'm a professional worrier so want to check I haven't missed anything obvious.

had to top up ds with medised again - but he is so poorly
blocked nose and sneezing and coughing ...
but still eats everything i offer

napping still works too! well, normally naps 2ish but was still awake at 3.30. then i decided he is "tired" and put him to bed. and he went off in a minute! had only 20min though. dp played with him and fed him and ds had another nap and i had to wake him at 5
but had to give him his afternoon bottle!

and at 7.30 he was gone again. still is
poor mite

gonna give him final bottle and then i am off too!
have a good night

libb · 18/10/2004 21:29

Evening all, glad you are all posting like mad eejits - I now know it wasn't all me!

DS has a cold too - all snuffles and snot, like a proper mum I have been aiding the removal of snot with a NUK doodah (not a tweezer in sight ) and a tissued finger - nice. He caught me unawares last night and realised too late that one of his deposits was stuck to my cheek, I would've run a mile once . . . wailing like a banshee as I went.

Speaking of which, DS has stepped up on the screeching like a mythic creature much to the disdain of one of the other kiddies at the childminder's house, she was most disgruntled about not getting her proper nap as he was making too much noise - please, just a phase? I feel guilty enough already! However, he is taking formula/bottles like a demon so am well chuffed now - gets topped up with proper milk morning and night.

Meanwhile the cat has been in the mother of all fights and has a really nasty cut to the head and can barely walk - time for the old man to hang up his gloves I think . . .

linnet · 18/10/2004 21:32

Hi all, I didn't realise I'd waffled so much last night sorry about that. I typed it all out then just hit post message as dh had dinner ready.

Well dd2 had her Last Men c jag today. Took dh with us so he could hold her as she usually doesn't cry with him but today she did. But I think it's because of where they put the needle in. Usually the HV puts it in the side of her thigh and dd2 doesn't bother about it but today the HV put the needle in the top of her thigh and boy did she scream, poor baby. She was a bit unsettled all the way home but has gone to bed quite happily and isn't hot or anything so I'm happy with that.

I've been looking at hand held blenders for doing the pureeing, does anyone have one of those? is it any good?
My granny says, great granny wisdom here yet again, that if I give dd2 vegetables as solids she'll be up all night with a sore tummy I pointed out that dd1 was weaned on veg and fruit and was perfectly ok!

Cat82 there are so many different ways to spell the name Kira. When we named our Kira there weren't very many of them about so we just spelt her name the way we thought it should be spelt couldn't find it in a baby name book at the time but we have since, seem to be hearing more little girls with that name now. a girl I work with has a 3 year old with the same name but again spelt differently hers is Keira. I've also met one who's name is spelt Ciara.

Got my driving lesson tomorrow, hope I can remember what to do since I've had 2 weeks off, lol

sorry to hear about your glasses Georgina but you've reminded me that I need to phone the optician for a check up for dh and I. dd1 keeps asking if she can get her eyes tested, this is because a little girl in her class has now got glasses and dd1 wants some as well. Might ask if she should get her eyes tested as well, is there an age when they should start getting eye tests, anybody know?

GeorginaA · 18/10/2004 21:39

Yes, I was told by the HV at the 3 year check that that is the time to do it. Ds1 has had his and he's slightly short sighted, so he has to go back in six months to see if it's deteriorated . Still, the eyetests are free...

OP posts:
linnet · 18/10/2004 21:46

Hmm interesting Georgina thanks for that, I'll mention it when I phone for our appointment. Dh has always had glasses since he was a very small child but I didn't get mine until I was 13 and they're only for reading, tv, etc

GeorginaA · 18/10/2004 21:52

Both me and dh are short sighted, quite badly so, so it was sort of inevitable really.

Twiglett - I notice on another thread you mention your ds being keen on stormtroopers! I'm so relieved... on a whim the other day I put Star Wars on for ds1 and he didn't seem that fussed either way (except asked TONS of questions... the best being "are you Princess Leia, Mummy?"... bless). But today he DEMANDED it on, so I've obviously raised the next generation of Star Wars fanatics...

Twiglett · 18/10/2004 21:55

wasn't my idea .. geek of a DH's fault

the worst thing is we now have to play over and over again the really gruesome bit in Attack of the Clones where the monsters try to kill Luke's mum, dad and Ewan McGregor

I haven't actually watched this one properly but must admit the bits I've seen the acting and script is so appalling I'm rooting for the monsters

libb · 18/10/2004 22:00

Twiglett, that particular one was not George's finest moments! DP and I did cave in and get the box set (or I did should I say?) and it is rather good even I do say so myself - don't forget you are dealing with 2 Buffy geeks so we know our stuff . . . .

GeorginaA · 18/10/2004 22:06

Ah, we only bought the original box set... trying to ignore the existence of the prequels

Felt horribly guilty showing it to him... wasn't sure if he was old enough even though it was a U classification. But then again, he's been going on and on about Spiderman recently (no he hasn't seen the film - just picked up from playing at nursery I think) so I thought he might be up for carefully selected non-child orientated films.

Judd · 18/10/2004 22:56

Georgina - just dug out our Tippitoes rules. Its to be used until they are 12KG, and they recommend 2-3 times a day for 20-30 minute periods.
Position clamp on doorframe in the centre, pull strongly down on the clamp strapping to ensure it is secure.
Adjust buckle round baby's stomach - if it is too loose they will hang to one side. Pull plastic stabilisers down the straps to 7-10cm above the baby's shoulders, both should be the same height.
Baby's toes only should touch the floor.
And voila! River Dance in your own living room

libb · 18/10/2004 22:59

My neighbour is 11.5 weeks pregnant! her DS is 5/6 weeks older than mine - stuff that in a stocking! they are both thrilled so I can't happier . . . I saw the scan piccie too and it is making me feel all funny . . .
