At what age did you allow your dc's to help themselves to food eg biscuits, cheese, grapes?

Just wondered, as I don't really allow my just turned 4 yo to help himself to anything, but his cousins help themselves to biscuits and all sorts.
All our cupboards still have locks on them, as he has a younger sibling now.

Flier, keep them locked... his cousins are aloud to do it but you don't have to let him to do it at your home!!! To be able for him to reach fruits is definitely more an option...
We have aloud DD to help herself with fruits anytime (she is only 2yrs old). THe summer fruits and oranges are usually messy, but I still prefer having the mess and to know she is eating healthy and lots of pure vitamins...We don't have snack time at home and don't give her biscuits at all... As children and growing up with a fruit and vegetable garden, I always remembered us eating cherry tomatoes, peaches, cherries out of the trees all day long during the summer and it never stopped us eating lunch or diner!!! And I don't remember my parents having any biscuits at home... so i am following that step!!!!
I think stealing would be when DD take money out of my purse and buy herself the snacks

i can see the argument re: MINI FRIDGE between DD and DH... No it is for my snack, No it is for daddy's beers

mine have free reign in the kitchen tbh.

i try to keep only healthy 'nsack' food around so its not really a problem. dp keeps buying less healthy food mind, drives me nuts, but its fine now and then, obv. just dont want them eating crisps and cookies all day every day really.
