In the times today

except that I wouldn't bother to explain why I was screaming.

Wow - tolerant as well as peace loving, olive oil! I want to be in your gang :-)

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:02

don't worry, I'm northern working class so most of you won't ever have to come into contact with me or my spawn!

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 14:03

Cascara where did thatcome from?

Oliveoil, no-one WANTS to destroy their kids toys but, contrary to what Iceland would have us believe, mums aren't heroes, we're human. And can be under a hell of a lot of pressures - job, family, health, finance, relationship. Sometimes that misbehaving child is quite simply the last straw. The pressure has to be relieved someone and chucking a toy is better than hurting a child.

Mog · 07/06/2007 14:04

Enid - I take it you're joking???? If not, what a horribly smug person you are.

Enid · 07/06/2007 14:05

No, sorry. Not joking! And, almost unbelievably I know, not smug either.

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:06

Twas in response to Enid and Olive oil!

malmaman · 07/06/2007 14:06

Dont tell olive but I once, in a fit of pique, threw a manky old sticker book in the bin as well - and THERE WERE STICKERS LEFT IN IT! So toy basher and wilfully depriving my dd - of crafting materials admittedly - too. The shame!

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:07

I did actually post about my own mentalness further down in case anyone missed it.

And I also put an exclamation mark after spawn in case Enid was joking, but also if she wasn't joing it was to signify I wasn't that bothered!

Enid · 07/06/2007 14:07

lol cascara, now if you want to bring class and geographical location into it, be my guest!

RubberDuck · 07/06/2007 14:08

Having, five minutes before reading this link, just confessed to a friend that today I really hate my 3 year old in a tearful I'm-beyond-redemption way... this was really really really timely. Thank you for posting.

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:08

or did you mean the northern working class thing?

LoveAngel · 07/06/2007 14:09

Enid - smugness (like beauty) is in the eye of the beholder.

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 14:09

No I meant the northern working class thing. I actually didn't see the northern reference?

soapbox · 07/06/2007 14:09

LOL - wait 'till OO sees Cascara's post!

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:09

Shouldn't geographical location and class always come into it?! I was about to mention formula and breastfeeding next!!

Or did I get the Unwritten Rules of MN wrong!?

chocolatedot · 07/06/2007 14:10

You may not be sumg but you are judgmental and lacking in emapathy Enid. You seem to be implying that your kids are well behaved and you never lose your temper with them because you treat them with respect. The natural implication being that those of us whose children occassionally behave badly do not treat them with respect. Your turn will come.

Enid · 07/06/2007 14:10

Don't forget Madeleine McCann and BLW

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:10

A real explanation. It was just cos most posters appear to be southern and middle class, it was just a little joke! My apologies!

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 14:11

I have been here for year and never discussed formula or breastfeeding.

Have mentioned by class and location in passing!

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 14:11

for years.

Enid · 07/06/2007 14:12

chocolatedot I have been at great pains to say that I do have a temper, and I do lose it occasionally with my children. They behave appallingly on occasion.

I am judgemental sometimes though I'll give you that

oliveoil · 07/06/2007 14:12

OI

who are you calling southern and middle class????

I'll av you no I wuz brort up on a council estate

twinsetandpearls · 07/06/2007 14:12

I am certainly not southern and don't think I can be pigeoned hole into a class although I come from a very rough southern family but have since moved up north and gained airsand graces if that helps.

soapbox · 07/06/2007 14:13

And while I am on this thread - I do find it rather perplexing to find that some people seem to be reveling in how awful they are as parents!

Is bashing the hell out of your child's soft toy something we should be aspiring to? Or screaming like a banshee at them?

What I fail to understand is that when a mother screams like a banshee, she has 'lost it' and instantly forgives herself, but if a child screams like a banshee then it is a 'temper tantrum' which results in time out, smacking, screaming like a banshee from mummy (bizarre) and a host of other punishments. Why is it okay for a mother to lose it, but not for a 3 year old?
