Crazy ex husbands GF

I'm not sure really where to post this, but here's my dilemma anyway.
Divorced for at least 6 years and remarried. Ex husband also in long term relationship with GF. GF has always had problem with me. I think because me and ex have 2 DDs together. 10 & 12. Ex has always been the weak kind. Not assertive.
Anyway they are due to take dds to Kos in summer hols, but gf has said they need to cut their hair. My dds have told me they don't want their hair cut. They are trying to grow it. So I text ex husband to say not to cut their hair and I get the text below back from the gf. I think she has a screw loose. What does one do with this ?

"That's fine. In which case I will need to cancel the holiday. Ask them if they are sure about this. As when this was discussed before the deposit was paid they were fine with shoulder length hair to swim everyday. Let me know by tomorrow morning at the latest. Only the deposit will be lost."

It's funny because it's that nuts! Is she sporting a short hair do? I don't even know what to say. Gin have this

redfairy · 04/05/2018 19:14

Bonkers!

gingergenius · 04/05/2018 19:23

That is, indeed utterly bonkers. Let her cancel. Do not, on any account cut your kids' hair. That is absolutely not ok and the gf has absolutely no right to impose that. She's bonkerballs

I don't/can't do hair, never been my thing and generally my hair has been short and easy to style with wax etc. DH has hardly any so is no help.

We have 2 DDs who have had long hair most of their lives, we coped, they learned fast how to manage it themselves and we have been on many holidays similar to a beach week in Kos without any issue. Just make sure you send them with a large bottle of conditioner, the usual comb/brush they use and plenty of hairbands

Lookatyourwatchnow · 04/05/2018 19:29

You can't reason with batshit. What the actual fuck is she thinking! Is this the first time she's behaved like such a loon?

Prettylovely · 04/05/2018 19:30

Wow she sounds really controlling, I would let her loose her deposit.

Sally2791 · 04/05/2018 19:32

Batshit. Not sure I'd want her looking after my kids whatever the hair length.

Staying · 04/05/2018 19:36

Adding to the chorus of absolutely not cutting their hair. Is she really willing not to go on holiday herself because her partner's daughters have slightly long hair? I'd rather go and comb than miss out on a holiday myself. She's nuts.

NannyOggsKnickers · 04/05/2018 19:38

I’ll also add that she can’t possibly like your DDs if she is willing to put this kind of emotional pressure on them. I’d be wary. What kind of adult puts kids in a position like this?

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 04/05/2018 19:38

She's absolutely crazy. My dd1 has extremely long hair, past her bum. She is quite hair sore too but likes the long hair so we keep on top of brushing and its in plaits 90% of the time. Dd2s hair is past her shoulders and its fine to manage really. Mine are only 5&3 so not doing it themselves but dd1 is learning to brush hers properly. Could your dds do each others hair whilst there? That or could you do their hair in quite a few small French plaits. That's kind of hairstyle lasts a while and can be washed in it.

She's still batshit though, absolutely. I'm a sm and she's just being a dick

BurpeesAreTheWorkOfTheDevil · 04/05/2018 19:39

Id be careful the girls weren't bullied into haircuts on their next visit OP

mzcracker · 04/05/2018 19:39

She's a crackpot. If she doesn't want the bother of drying long, wet hair she can pop it up in a bun. Job done.
She's a crank.

AuntLydia · 04/05/2018 19:43

I would remove the poor kids from this. Text her back and make it clear that you will not allow your children to be controlled and blackmailed like this so you've made an executive decision that they won't be going on holiday with them. Screenshot her texts to keep them. And start making a note of all this crap. She sounds abusive to be honest and I wouldn't want my kids exposed to that.

thetriangleisarealinstrument · 04/05/2018 19:44

that is fully crazy.
At your daughters age it is downright abusive to force haircuts on them unless there is a very serious reason.
Can they not have it braided into cornrows? I had hair down past my bum at that age and dealt with it on holiday to very hot places by having it braided into tiny plaits. Then you have to do nothing with it all holiday.

Even plaiting it into a large braid would be pretty easy for your daughters to do before going swimming.
Theres absolutely no reason for them to cut their hair off.

She really sounds insane and I would deffo call her bluff on this.

Id also be pretty worried about my daughters going somewhere that far away with someone that mental and controlling. Your poor daughters!

wormery · 04/05/2018 19:46

What a pathetic and controlling text, I'd tell exh to cancel holiday, its nothing to do with her what the girls do with their hair, I wouldn't want her near my kids.

YearOfYouRemember · 04/05/2018 19:50

Maybe she's hoping you won't let them go as she doesn't want them there.

flumpybear · 04/05/2018 19:50

If she's that vindictive and controlling then I'd be really reluctant to allow my children in her care - how bloody nasty if her! Why can't your husband brush their hair ffs

Snowman123 · 04/05/2018 19:51

I think you need to understand where she is coming from.

There have been incidents abroad, where hair had became trapped underwater in filters etc. Could this be her concern? Seems extreme.

I would politely ask her what her concerns are.

Lookatyourwatchnow · 04/05/2018 20:04

@Snowman123 best shave their heads then to be on the safe side Hmm

OldHag1 · 04/05/2018 20:07

Why has she responded and not your ex? How do you know it’s her? Can you respond as though you are speaking to the ex.... don’t be ridiculous Nigel a few inches of hair won’t make a difference.

Youaremysunshine2017 · 04/05/2018 20:10

Lookatyourwatchnow GrinGrin

Ladymadness · 04/05/2018 20:14

Call her bluff and tell her to go ahead and cancel the nasty cow. Btw if she forces your dds to get a haircut that is assault.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 04/05/2018 20:17

Completely nutty. Fuck that, think your DDs are better off not going in that holiday. Can’t their father take them on their own?

OldHag1 · 04/05/2018 20:17

What happens when your girls stay for the weekend who does their hair then?

I would ignore if you call her bluff she would just say that you said to cancel the holiday.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 04/05/2018 20:18

On HIS own!
