He won't stop crying unless he's being held by me, preferably sleeping on one exposed boob, although at a push I can reclothe.

He is declining tuneless songs and cuddles from his siblings, and putting him down got me into a lot of trouble. Who needs words to shout?!

I can't find his warranty, and am not sure I could face returning him, collection was bad enough.

Any suggestions?

Willow2016 Grin at putting softwear away!

My 2013F model is currently attempting to wirelessly connect with other household devices- "Talk to me radio!" and "Look at my dress, television" are the commands it's using. Sadly this hasn't been successful yet but it's giving me a good giggle Grin

Lweji · 31/05/2016 11:25

You should really get a decent antivirus and firewall.
It's only a temporary self-limiting virus, though. Just put your equipment on stand by for a while.

HSMMaCM · 31/05/2016 11:36

I don't think plugging older models into electricity is a good way to reboot. Maybe just leave them to run down completely before trying to restart.

I know Leweji, I have no one to blame but myself.

I feel for the old 15 free hours childcare scam and it seems the malware was installed then.

So far it has led to activation of self-pity mode but has not disabled the run around like a loon app, the torment the 2015 model app or the shout at full volume app.

Luckily sleep mode is still functioning correctly.

If I did that it would never get to upgrading modules in time in the morning and I would be getting communications from the engineers there to say it was missing valuable input! Smile

HSMMaCM · 31/05/2016 12:34

I find sending mine in for upgrading while still in sleep mode seems to work.

CodyKing · 31/05/2016 12:35

It appears there are a few mother-bored issues here!

I don't think mother-boreds are covered under warranty - however if you remove them - soak in gin - they may restart slowly the next day.

They can still be temperamental - try instilling the Mary Andrews App - which sometime defaults to the Cruella De Ville App at bedtime - generally reboots the next day

passportmess · 31/05/2016 15:38

codyking Grin mother-bored! Brilliant!

Op are you a daily mail journalist? Your thread appears to be on the DM websiteGrin

Lweji · 31/05/2016 16:38

No chance. DM journos don't have the imagination.

Noooooooooooo! There is no tears of horror and rage emoticon for such a situation.

It can't be that slow a news week. (I should have cancelled the cheque. )

You know, I've heard that the vast majority of models that read and believe the daily fail have malfunctioned and need a system reset. I don't know if that's true or not...

Morifarty · 31/05/2016 18:12

bathsheba that's for both evil mode and hyper mode. Multifunctional.

tb · 31/05/2016 18:45

Our '97 model worked perfectly for some time - perhaps because we took out an extended 2-year warranty.

Slept through the night just before 6 weeks, even though putting into sleep mode in the evening was sometimes a little difficult. Evening malfunctions were much improved after 4-6weeks due to the local application of a fluid named 'gripe water' which helped a great deal.

Sadly, once the extra 2-year warranty expired all hell broke loose, and the product's gone to hell in a hand-cart. For the first 16-years we were held completely responsible for any collateral damage caused as the local terms and conditions require immediate and complete obediance to the proprietor(s). Our model seemed to be without this function.

Now the model is 18 years old, local interpretation of the warranty mean that the product is responsible for any damage caused to third parties (including the original proprietors), so if it tries to kill them (again) we can call the boys in blue - but they'll probably be engrossed by the footie 24/7 soon.

Unfortunately, we are responsible for all maintenance until it is 26 years old, unless it becomes financially self-maintaining, which, given it's inability to respect others/their property would seem to be somewhat problematic. There may or may not be an EU directive that covers this eventuality - however, I doubt it.

tb · 31/05/2016 18:47

Due to the rather (to put it mildly) tricky post-warranty period, we decided not to acquire a second model.

Even had we put an order in, the combination of untreated hypothroidism and some consequences of sarcoidosis would have snookered this ie the order would have been lost in the post.

momtothree · 31/05/2016 18:53

Multifunctional

has anyone found this in settings for the blue models? I checked "general" to no avail

loosechange · 31/05/2016 19:14

Not in my experience.

I think only the pink models were fitted with multifunctional? Although sometimes it seems to fry their circuits and they just shut down.

Does wandering around picking things up to put away with one hand while holding a phone in another, as it watches you tube vids, count as multifunctioning? I'll admit the 'function' bit is a bit of a misnomer as it gets half the job done in twice the length if time it should do it. I am sure there should be a more efficient 'task' programme in there somewhere but since it was about 6 I cannot access it.

OrlandaFuriosa · 31/05/2016 22:01

tb v sorry your model has so many additional complexities which I assume mean constant owner maintenance. Our same year model had a very very rare specification in its configuration that meant we had to visit six increasingly specialist repair outlets until we found one that couldn't reset but provided workarounds. It was exhausting. Sympathy.

PacificDogwod · 31/05/2016 22:06

Have you tried switching it off and on again?

Or switching it off, counting to 10, then switching it back on again??

I have to be honest, my 4 models all improved dramatically with increasing run-in time. Maybe it has not found it's proper calibration yet?

Is there a Haynes manual for your model? I find they are very clearly written.

Hello, I saw this posted as an article in the Daily Mail and had to reply. You have basically described my first child. She would only stop crying when held and even then not always. She cried constantly, especially when I put her down. This went on for thirteen miserable weeks, then a friend happened to mention in conversation "silent reflux", this is not like reflux, they are rarely sick with it. I googled it and she ticked every box, went to the docs and was prescribed infant gaviscon, put it in a feed, voila, like flicking a switch, I had a new baby! No more crying, unless of course she was hungry etc., but she didn't cry without reason unlike before. Google it and see if it may be causing trouble for your little one. X

Both my 2003 and 2007 Blue editions claim to be able to listen to YouTube videos, watch television and do homework simultaneously with no loss of performance. I don't believe them but have never quite been able to prove them wrong Sad
