Well done Red, that sounds fab!

ChuckNovice · 26/01/2015 18:33

I got a place. This uni is so much closer and two of its placement hospitals are 15 minutes away on the bus so I'm very pleased. Although, it's conditional of 'a favourable work reference, signed and on headed paper' - I haven't worked anywhere for 4 years and that was in a restaurant where everyone I worked with has left. So don't know what I'll do about that. Confused

Congratulations Chuck!

Thanks Mike. So are you going to accept Brighton? Do you live near there?

It's all very exciting isn't it? I spoke to NHS grants and they said I might get help with childcare but they can only tell you after you've applied but they do take rent/morgage into consideration using wages after tax/ni - so I might stand a chance of getting some help.

MikeTheShite · 27/01/2015 12:29

That's really good news!

I am going to accept and I'll stay on my course until September.
I'm about halfway between chichester and brighton so the commute should be manageable

RedButtonhole · 29/01/2015 00:25

Congratulations Chuck! That's fab news.

Still no word for me. A bit nervous now as a few others who applied at the same time as me have had word from the same uni, albeit a different campus.

MikeTheShite · 29/01/2015 14:12

I am wondering now when and how we apply for student finance and nhs bursaries

ChuckNovice · 29/01/2015 17:46

I think student finance opened to apply a few days ago and NHS bursary application open in March sometime.

MikeTheShite · 29/01/2015 17:55

Ahhhhhhh that's good I might wait to apply then

RedButtonhole · 05/02/2015 20:51

Hello! How is everyone?

I got an email today inviting me for the literacy and numeracy tests a week on Monday (16th).

If I am successful in those then I get an interview at a later date Grin.

I'm just so glad they didn't discard me after reading my personal statement!

MikeTheShite · 06/02/2015 08:33

Yay well done Red, you will do great!

I'm just stressing now because I want September to hurry up!

ChuckNovice · 06/02/2015 10:38

Well done Redbutton that's great news. Where's it for?

RedButtonhole · 07/02/2015 03:02

Thankyou! Smile

Its for University of the West of Scotland in Ayr. A few other girls in my college group have also been given dates to go in, but I'm first!

Not sure what to wear now!

RedButtonhole · 20/02/2015 16:16

I think everyone on here has disappeared, but I have no-one else to tell so thought I'd post anyway- I have an interview in 3 weeks time! Can't quite believe it, there are more than double the number of applicants as there are spaces, so I never expected to get this far!

Mixtape · 21/02/2015 07:13

Good luck Smile

Thankyou! Smile

I'm quite nervous, not sure what to expect or what they will ask. There is so much information.

bunnie1975 · 21/02/2015 15:05

I did Adult Nursing in Edinburgh, had to drop out after most of 1st year but looking to go back when my little boy starts school next year. Have you joined any forums? The Student Midwife forum is fab, lots of nursing students on there as well, they also have a shop and you can download a huge list of questions you might get asked, that way you can have a rough idea. Read a few nursing mags, look at whats happening in the NHS just now, write notes down you can look over before you go in. Smart casual is good, my interview there were a mix of jeans/suits and smart trousers. Be happy in what you wear though as if your un comfy in your clothing it can affect you.

ChuckNovice · 21/02/2015 15:25

Well done Redbutton! Good luck for your interview!

RedButtonhole · 21/02/2015 16:21

Thankyou Chuck and bunnie! My interview is on the 12th of march so I have a fair bit of time to prepare. I have been reading lots of nursing mags (Nursing Times and Standard) and paying plenty of attention to health news in the broad sheets so I will keep that up.

Good advice about the forum bunnie, I will look into that. Also glad to hear that smart casual will be acceptable- I have black trousers and a smart navy coloured top that I was going to wear with pumps and a cardi. I bought a book called getting into nursing which was reccommended by the uni to read before the interview as well.

My little boy started school in September bunnie so I have used this year to get some experience and qualifications, it was just impossible before he started school to think about anything else! I hope things go well for you this time around Thanks

RedButtonhole · 13/03/2015 06:22

Well I had my interview yesterday, not sure how it went really, my mind went blank and I didn't say half the stuff I wanted to say.

It could be the end of March before I hear anything, its going to be a long month!

ChuckNovice · 16/03/2015 19:42

Good luck RedButton. I hope you hear soon.

passthewineplz · 17/03/2015 20:38

I've got a conditional uni place for midwifery, to start in September.

But since I've found out I've become a nervous wreck, and worried I won't get the grades and I won't get my maths. Does anyone have any tip on how to remain focused and how I can pass my functional skills maths, as I keep failing the blooming thing as I keep running out of time! Sad

Coffeemonster1 · 30/03/2015 21:51

Hi I am new to this post. Is any one studying at Bucks new uni? I got an unconditional offer for child nursing :)

RedButtonhole · 31/03/2015 22:55

I still haven't heard anything. It has been almost three weeks and the last date for them sending anyone offers was meant to be today.

Mum is convinced this is a good thing and that rejections are sent out quickly but offers take longer. I am not so sure.
