Robin Sorry I'm not Cod but have you tried a chocolate button? Works for us but then ds doesn't get chocolate any other time.

robin3 · 14/06/2006 14:38

We rewarded initially with chocolate but now 2 months in I feel that we shouldn't have to give chocolate for every pee. He still gets lots of verbal praise.

Bozza · 15/06/2006 12:58

robin I think we are going to move from chocolate onto stickers when the current supply of white mice runs out.

mars we are in a similar position to you. DD is doing brilliantly with the wees - 3 dry days this week but poo in pants every day also.

Bozza DT1 has left you behind. [smug emoticon] She's cracked it. She takes herself off to her potty to wee and/or poo.

DT2 on the other hand........... sigh...................

Normsnockers · 16/06/2006 13:05

I'm hoping we have cracked the poo thing.

Realised that ds was about to poo in the bath the other night (the bubbles coming from his bottom and smell were a bit of a giveaway)
I snatched him out and plonked him, dripping wet, on the loo and seconds later there was a satisfying splash sound ! He looked stunned initially and asked to see his poo in the toilet.

I did a mad happy dance around the bathroom and hugged him so much and told him how clever he was and he beamed. Then we said goodbye to the poo and flushed it away. More rejoicing and promise of trip to toy shop but I slipped in a comment about how he needed to do all poos on the toilet now. Next day we told all the ladies at pre-school and they praised him too and lo and behold he took himself off to the loo and did a poo at the end of the day, just before I collected him.

I'm so hoping we have cracked it and that this isn't a false dawn. I know we'll still have accidents but the relief is fantastic.

Nursery consider him toilet trained as they have sent back his spare nappies as they said he no longer has a nappies and wipes basket with his name on it in the cupboard !

I think this is my proudest moment of parenting so far, even better tah when he gave up his dummy after only a few days of weaning off it.

Normsnockers · 16/06/2006 13:07

P.S take heart everyone, we started the "no going back to nappies regime" at the beginning of May.

Just need Cod's advice on when to start not having nappies at night time now.

He wees a lot in the night

PetitFilou1 · 16/06/2006 13:55

Normsknockers how old is your ds? I would have been as chuffed as you are in that situation! I think we're getting there with the wees but no chance on the poos yet. Also sometimes he says 'I need Noddy' when what he means is 'I need to sit on my potty and do a wee in front of the tv'..... ooops accidental conditioning there that I'm going to have to undo.

Normsnockers · 16/06/2006 14:26

Ds is 3 years and 2 months.

We were late starters in the potty training stakes Blush

We did have a couple of unsuccessful attempts last October and at Christmas but he just wasn;t ready then.

Prettyfull · 16/06/2006 15:36

Hi cod,

(hi petitfilou too :) thanks for advise on other thread)

Can i pleassssse join this boot camp lol!! Im going to start training dd after the weekend, who will be 2 in August.

Dd has been sitting on the potty/toilet from roughly a year old and has always done wee & poo but has had a long period where she will sit but not actually go!!

Not sure where i went wrong, think i confused her,...anyway,....she now hates having nappy on and as i know she can do wee & poo i really would love to try this summer, but need to know if u think shes ready for this???

Thanks :)

MarsLady · 16/06/2006 20:20

Yup! DT1 has very very definitely cracked it! Grin

Now to concentrate all my efforts and chocolate treats on DT2.

Ponka · 17/06/2006 16:20

Hi,

Please can I join you from Monday? Got pants, chocolate, pampers mats etc. and we are all good to go.

DS1 is just over 2 and is fascinated by doing wees in his potty so we've had a fair bit of sucess in our recent nappy off times.

Am a bit nervous about it but with the power of Mumsnet, it should be O.K. Smile You all sound like you are doing pretty well.

Cod · 17/06/2006 18:18

sorry boot camp shut ill end of term

MarsLady · 18/06/2006 12:20

Just sneaking in to say...........

DT2 wee-ed in his potty. Grin He stood over it and aimed. Clearly that's the way to crack it. He was on his own as I'd gone to make Sunday lunch. Oh yeah.............. he got it going on!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin

Cod · 18/06/2006 16:22

you make me larf

MarsLady · 18/06/2006 19:28

Yeah............? Well how's this then?

DT1 climbed onto the toilet, wee-ed, flushed then washed her hands.

Oh yeah! Oh yeah! We got it going on for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin

Ponka · 19/06/2006 15:02

Alright, never mind, Cod. I'll wing it alone. Managing to get by so far today with a bit of success but reckon I'm going to need to hire a carpet cleaning machine at the end of it all! [GRIN]

Good luck all of you. Especially Marslady. Can't imagine doing two!
