DD had her first dry day for me today but did poo in her pants. And remember the same issue with DS.

jnm I think your DH is projecting the issues you had with your DD onto your DS. Would you prefer to go no nappy? I assume so. I think you need to talk to him some more. Do you work full time?

Cod · 12/06/2006 22:29

no prob all well done YOu did it

Bozza · 12/06/2006 22:34

Right so cod the next issue if weaning off a chocolate mouse for each wee on the potty.....

still?
you are kidding

Cod · 12/06/2006 22:35

juliet mum
who si doing the training you or dh?

Bozza · 12/06/2006 22:36

She's only been going 10 days. And 3 of those at nursery. And the first one she didn't do any on the potty so only 6 days of mice.

Actually I am slightly kidding because I know I can manage it quite easily by the time honoured tradition of running out.

julienetmum · 12/06/2006 23:23

It would be both of us plus my mum and his mum.

Mondays we are both at home.
Tuesdays I work, dh works from home, sometimes he has ds sometimes my mum does.
Wednesdays we both work, my mum has ds.
Thursdays I am at home
Friday mornings we are both at home, Friday afternoons they go to my mum and stay overnight whilst we are at work.
Saturdays we are both at work, mil has ds
Sundays we are both at home.

PetitFilou1 · 13/06/2006 09:36

Is it too late to join this one? I've been potty training ds (2.4) since Saturday. Not many accidents but not many wees in the potty either. He seems to be able to go a long time in between probably as he isn't a big drinker. Also he has a very heavy nappy in the mornings so a lot is done overnight I think.
Yesterday he only had two accidents at nursery but that sounds better than it is as I don't think he did any wees on the potty either. However, he was in the bath last night when he said he needed a wee, I got him out and put him on and he did one (cue relief from me as I was worried he wasn't really ready). He waited for the bedtime nappy to go on before doing a poo - I was not at all surprised at that though.... We are doing full on pants and nappy at nap and bedtime only.

chocolatemummy · 13/06/2006 10:12

hello, new person if thats ok?
having a few probs with little girl potty training, had basically cracked it a couple of week ago but she seems to have gone backwards, just this mroning she has already done a wee on the floor and on the bloody table.
I know she is fine at the childminder, I puit her in pants and she always comes home mdry, at nursery she seems to just end up in nappies, all clothes wet etc, home 50% she uses toliet or potty 50% she just does it wherever she is !

Bozza · 13/06/2006 10:19

petitfilou I think you have to bear in mind how hot the weather has been - if he is not a big drinker (my children aren't generally) then he might not have had a lot of fluids left after sweating etc. Grin TBH he sounds like DD was - he is quite good at holding it but not so good at letting go but that will come with practice and bribery IMrecentE. Don't worry about the poos yet, concentrate on the wees.

chocolate mummy why is nursery putting her in nappies?

chocolatemummy · 13/06/2006 10:23

She just seems to wet herself there and go throiught all spare clothes sshe ends up in pull ups, I have resorted to it now which i know is bad but she keeps weeing everywhere, not sure what to do about it because its mixed mesages I know

Bozza · 13/06/2006 10:25

But she was doing well initially?

chocolatemummy · 13/06/2006 10:29

yeas, she seemed to have alomst cracked in about 8 days and I was really pleased. she has very heavy nappies in the morning, she takes them off now at home thought, doesnt seem to want one one but half the times forgets to go to the loo

Bozza · 13/06/2006 11:28

If she nearly cracked it then that means that she can do it. Personally I would take a hard line - by that I mean carry on. Are you bribing?

PetitFilou1 · 13/06/2006 15:01

Bozza Thanks - I was guessing that the hot weather had something to do with it. How long would you leave between reminders? And how long would you let him sit for? I've got him Thursday and Friday as usual - nursery are taking on the majority of the work at the moment Smile but after tomorrow I have to take a deep breath and prepare myself for being on my own doing it with dd in tow as well. I think nursery are reminding him every 15 minutes or so but if he's only going every couple of hours that's a lot isn't it?? What do people think?

Bozza · 13/06/2006 15:06

Hmm I was like you. Nursery were doing Tues-Thurs and I had DS to contend with some of the rest of the time. Actually I am getting a bit cocky I might get home to find a huge bag of dirty washing! I started off doing the every 15 mins thing but DD was getting annoyed by it. So I then tried to leave it an hour after the last wee and then do the every 15 min thing. Although had to be careful there because she was having partial accidents so still needing to go. Also I found soon enough that I knew when she needed to go because she would start pacing the floor or climbing over me and get rather moody (like they sometimes do if they are very hungry).

Bozza · 13/06/2006 15:08

It started to click over the weekend though and she stopped being so resistant. So yesterday I found that I could just sit her on the potty every 2-3 hours and tell her to do a wee and she would. She did 4 yesterday I think plus a tiny one she squeezed out to keep pace with her friend who had the nerve (in DD's eyes) to borrow her potty. Grin

PetitFilou1 · 13/06/2006 15:16

LOL at borrowing the potty thing! I think ds is getting annoyed by being asked every 15 minutes as well so I'll try your suggestion. It would be SO nice if he'd wee on demand every two or three hours! I have a strong feeling he's going to be much harder to crack on the poo side but don't mind so much about that - it is horrible to clean up but at least it doesn't soak everything and leave a puddle..... He has a music class on Thursday morning which is held in a yoga studio -I'm dreading him weeing all over the floor. I think I've got to go though or I'll end up afraid to go out!

Bozza · 13/06/2006 15:35

Just go well prepared with spare clothes, cleaning stuff etc and be matter of fact about it. And if you are going in the car put one of those pampers care mats in the car seat. It took DD 10 days to get to the wee on demand stage as you put it - so looks like you have another week to sit it out. And read my posts further down - I was not such a positive little bunny this time last week!

PetitFilou1 · 13/06/2006 20:36

Bozza did your dd ever get constipated? Ds goes for a poo 2 x a day and today did a very small hard one on the way home from nursery in his pants (which I didn't notice until he got home Sad) but I did wonder why he seemed so upset on the way back and I couldn't distract him out of it. This may seem a bizarre thing to do but I put it in the potty and said it was ok but that was where it should go and he instantly calmed down. About 5 mins later he asked to go for a wee and did one. So far today two wees on potty/toilet at nursery and one accident, one accident on way home and one wee on potty at home. I think he's doing ok but I'm worried about his poor swollen belly! Any suggestions from you or anyone else reading this?

Bozza · 13/06/2006 22:14

My DD is slightly constipated but i think that is more to do with lack of fluids and fibre than potty issues TBH. My DS got himself dreadfully constipated and had a real issue with poos on the potty and I ended up getting him lactulose from the doctor.

MarsLady · 14/06/2006 08:21

I've only popped on briefly this morning as I am so inordinately proud of the fact that both of the DTs managed to do full wees in their potties first thing today. Normally I miss one of them, but not today!!!!!!!!!

Grin

Right.......... accidents are less and less in the day, we just need to crack the poos! Day time bladder control is fantastic. Haven't had an accident at playgroup for ages (so having said that I suppose that today's the day sigh...........)

Our final battle is getting knickers back on DT1 at night. So far it has been solved by putting knickers on top of her nappy.

PetitFilou1 · 14/06/2006 10:19

Hooray for Marslady!!!

Managed to get ds to do a wee first thing in the morning for the first time (we are on day 5)He also tried to use the toilet at nursery before he went up for breakfast. He's getting there I think.... Poor thing, when he did his wee this morning he asked to phone dh (who is away for the week) but got no answer as dh wasn't up yet. He was going 'hello, hello, I did a wee wee' and got no reply Sad my dh now feels really guilty he didn't answer the phone.

robin3 · 14/06/2006 13:29

Cod....DS in general is fine now with potty thing but we find (2 months on) that on days when he's at home and busy playing he doesn't bother or forgets to tell us he needs to go and wees away. We do try to put him on the potty when we think he needs to go but he absolutely refuses and I'm trying not to make it in to a negative. Any suggestions? Star chart maybe? Thanks in advance.
