do not start if oyu are going ot poof out
  1. remmeber it is hard work - hence hte training - yes life will be more difficult for a couple of weeks
  2. do NOT use pull ups for day time naps or anythin short of a 2 hour journey
  3. night training is a wholey seperate issue

wow!

feel as if life is only behing these doors forom now on thouhg. will we ever take steps outside???

alittlebitshy · 10/04/2006 20:04

lol melsy!!!!

blueteddy · 10/04/2006 20:05

I don't remember DS1 being this much of a nightmare to toilet train, but I had the whole of the summer holiday to tackle it in (work in a school), this time I started in half term & then had to hand it to my Mum & MIL when I went back to work. MIL often put him back in a pull up after a couple of accidents despite me asking her not to & I think this may have set him back a bit.
He now almost seems to wait for me to put his pull up on for bed before pooing!

Rhubarb · 10/04/2006 20:14

Wow, we have some very advanced 2 year olds on here!
If I told my ds to choose his own pants (24 months) he would just look at me stupidly, he wouldn't have the foggiest what I was on about! Ditto if I 'explained' to him about using the potty for pee-pees!

If you don't want accidents, may I recommend my own method that I have yet to try, securing a small drinks bottle to your child's willy (course this only works with boys). When he wees it will make a lovely sound alerting him and you! No more hidden puddles on the floor!

I may market this product!

TopBanana · 10/04/2006 20:20

Dd says she doesn't want a nappy on for bed...
What shall I do?

Donbean · 10/04/2006 20:26

DID IT!!!
it worked thanks Cod!
Went cold turkey, no nappy, no pull ups, half hourly toiletting at first and we did it in about a week.
You were right, pull ups ARE the work of the devil, complete waste of time and money and completely confusing.

Going to leave it a month or so before tackling night time training.
LISTEN TO THE FISH SHE KNOWS.....

meysey · 10/04/2006 20:28

DS seems to be weeing every 30-40 minutes - is this normal or does it mean he has too little bladder control to be potty trained??

Day 2 today, better than yesterday. about half wees were caught, and half in pants. red bucket in garden made it all more exciting as did sweets.

wessexgirl · 10/04/2006 20:29

Day 4 and the weeing thing is sorted, she couldn't care less about getting stickers and sweeties for it now, but we did nearly have a 'poo incident' when she went back to her old ways of running behind the curtains to do it. Luckily I caught on in time and it hadn't quite come out yet - was able to bundle her on the potty. Phew.

Doesn't help that I have had mastitis and am cream crackered, whilst dh is doing the dying flippin swan on the sofa with 'mild' tonsillitis (dr's opinion, obviously not dh's...).

Pruni · 10/04/2006 20:34

Right am joining this thread as of Tuesday.
DS alerted to the fact that there will be NO nappies tomorrow.
New pants today.
Supply of choc eggs.
Have prepared big basket of pants/trousers/socks for accidents.
No going out tomorrow.
Or the next day.
Or the day after that.
Cod there is a present for you in this if you keep me going.

alittlebitshy · 10/04/2006 20:39

welcome pruni.
argh!!!!!! think am more nervous for day 2 than i was day 1

Pruni · 10/04/2006 20:42

melsy · 10/04/2006 20:43

hello pruni , did u go on the retreat ?

melsy · 10/04/2006 20:44

your made of tougher stuff than me Pruni , Im lightweight being pg.

Latz · 10/04/2006 20:57

Phew so glad today is over and dreading tomorrow - but maybe she will wee in the loo at least once!!!

GeordieVik · 10/04/2006 21:05

Hi girls, I started day one today, haven't looked at this thread before now though. I lost thew will to live when DS came running in for the 4th time saying 'wee-wee' after already having 'gone' in his pants. We got through 10 pairs of pants today, not one wee or poo in the potty.

I don't know whether to continue tomorrow or give up for a few months. Should I persevere?

He's 2 at the end of April.

Passionflower · 10/04/2006 21:10

Okey dokey, tally for day 1 in casa Passionflower:

Wees in pants 3
Poo on floor 1 (was bum out in desperate pant saving measure)

DH was just starting to huff and puff about DD3 not being ready when (she was playing on him with bum out) she said wee, got on the pot and weed in it!

All three DD's got a treat so now DD's 1 & 2 are helping with the potty training. They keep asking DD3 if she needs the pot in a hopefull voice. They will do anything for a M&S jelly baby.Grin

Flip · 10/04/2006 21:25

Well all is quiet in the house of Flip and no more presents being left in ds1's room by piddling ds2. Still no poo which I expected and I think dh put him in a nappy for bed. Not sure. Had gone to neighbours for a well deserved coffee.

Will continue tomorrow as much as possible but outlaws are having him for the day and I will insist that they continue as I have or else they're not taking him.

I think boys pooing in pants is a nightmare situation. I know that ds1 was doing it up until aged six. A couple of times a month I'd get called into school to deal with his soiled clothes. And yes, I threw up everytime. Maybe it was me chucking up that he enjoyed and that's why he did it. Must try and have a stronger stomach with ds2. Although not winning so far. Just emptying wee out of potty into toilet and I'm wretching.

Pruni · 10/04/2006 21:49

Hi Melsy! no I didn't...(go on the retreat)
