right

  1. this is for any kid over hte age of 2
  2. imo the best age ie 2 - 2.5
  3. there is NO going bakc
do not start if oyu are going ot poof out
  1. remmeber it is hard work - hence hte training - yes life will be more difficult for a couple of weeks
  2. do NOT use pull ups for day time naps or anythin short of a 2 hour journey
  3. night training is a wholey seperate issue

a quick poll - who's starting with potty and who's gone straight to trainer seat. having thought for months that dd would prefer seat (odd sits on loo were always that, not potty), she now prefers potty. safer, lower and easier for herself i spose.

MadameDeMars · 10/04/2006 17:23

I do hope my darling coddy that you will be running a potty training boot camp in the summer as that will be when I shall train the DTs Smile

Flip · 10/04/2006 17:23

We do a mix of both depending on where he is. We have a look upstairs and downstairs but trainer seat is upstairs and potty and is downstairs.

I've found a good way of getting them on the toilet is to put one of those bloo loo things in and their reward is flushing and watching the bubbles. See how many bubbles they can make kinda thing. Although I recommend supervision. Ds2 tried to scoup the bubbles out with his hands and I had to throw up.

So, picked dd up from nursery. They told me shes been fantastic, 2 wees on toilet and dry all day. No poos. As I walk into the room she runs over and wees everywhere......... BUT its only one accident.
We walked home and when we got back I sat her on the potty, said she didn't need it and got up. Went to get changed out of my work clothes and walk back in to find a huge poo in her pants Sad

my dd seems to have wee-ed every hour this afternoon. this morning, until about 2 or 3 it was every coupl of hours then it's wee central.

got another total potty wee though. 3.5 out of 7!!!!!

Flip · 10/04/2006 18:22

Ds2 is doing it. Ds1 is seven and way past that. I'm going grey.

alittlebitshy · 10/04/2006 18:36

she's learning to manipulate... she seems to be doing a wee, holding it, then a few mins later doing more. ie multiple choccie buttons. got ton give her credit there. dh got her to keep sitting down, so he turned what she saw as 5 wees into just 1. lol.

we're now at over half today's wees were in potty. still no poo.

melsy · 10/04/2006 18:39

Do we have the same dd alittlbitshy, sounds so familiar today & choccy button(minstrels) dealings!!!!! well dobe you all for getting wees in potty , its a great feeling when they do, like wow must be doing something right.

melsy · 10/04/2006 18:40

well dobe !!!!!!!!!!!, me lost it today.

Latz · 10/04/2006 18:48

She's actually done a wee in the loo!!! :o

After holding it from about 1 o'clock, I ran the bath put her on the loo and just as she was struggling to get off I told her she could have a ball to play with in the bath and 'Bingo Stingo' (Sorry Cod!) she did one!!

Think the neighbours will be having me locked up though the noise I made.

Flip · 10/04/2006 18:49

Don't worry about the sweetie treats. We're on day six I think and they're just dwindled away. He doesn't even ask now. Although he knows there's a special treat if we get a poo correctly. Just had two wees on potty and told me each time once he was sat down.

alittlebitshy · 10/04/2006 19:26

this every hour (at least) business of this afternoon... well, i hope she learns to keep it in lol. how on earth do you do ANYHTHING if they're constantly on the potty!!!!

although right now i feel as if we'll never leave the house.

it feels so so odd to have a potty training dd. scary. as if having a child wasn't scary enough.

this eve she said nappies tmorrow. :( had to explain (again) that no, just knickers. only nappies at night!!!

blueteddy · 10/04/2006 19:31

Ok - do you have any advice on what to do with a now 3 year old, who I have been attempting to toilet train since Feburary, but who still needs constant reminders & has several accidents a day.
I can count on one hand how many poo's have actually made it to the potty/toilet rather than his pants or the bath!Angry
Getting very worn down with it now!

alittlebitshy · 10/04/2006 19:33

girl or boy?

no advice, just hoping i don't get the same.....

lots of sympathy though

BingoStingo · 10/04/2006 19:40
