right

  1. this is for any kid over hte age of 2
  2. imo the best age ie 2 - 2.5
  3. there is NO going bakc
do not start if oyu are going ot poof out
  1. remmeber it is hard work - hence hte training - yes life will be more difficult for a couple of weeks
  2. do NOT use pull ups for day time naps or anythin short of a 2 hour journey
  3. night training is a wholey seperate issue

I have a slightly different problem to the rest of you but am hoping you will be able to help anyway.
dd was 2 on easter monday and for about the last month every time she goes to bed even in the afternoon for her nap she takes all her clothes and nappy off. yes, even when she's done a poo. i've tried everything and i am at my witts end. any suggestions which be gratefully appreciated.
thanks

put the nappy on backwards

tiggerpoohbear · 23/04/2006 19:47

do you really think that will work because even during the day as soon as you put a nappy on her she is starting to take it off.

waterfalls · 23/04/2006 19:48

tiggerpoohbear

I have exactly the same problem with dts, the only I found that stops them is to selotape their nappies on, a bit of a pain to take off, but it beats them painting the bedroom walls with the contents of their nappiesGrin

waterfalls · 23/04/2006 19:49

masking tapes good too

tiggerpoohbear · 23/04/2006 19:52

waterfalls and cod thanks for your suggestions, at the moment i will try anything. i was a bit worried about using sellotape in case she got it off and put it round her neck or something. but i will try anything. the amount of bedding she is going through you would not believe, and she thinks its funny {shock}

waterfalls · 23/04/2006 19:55

Masking tape is very very hard to get off the nappy, and even if she did, it rips very easy.

Passionflower · 23/04/2006 23:21

Wee has deffo clicked. We have had day two of no wee accidents. Poo is another matter though Grin. Luckily only one poo pants to deal with today.

moono · 24/04/2006 07:52

cod, cheers for the advice, it has spurred me to be firm and keep going with it.

Yesterday was day 5. He can hold it for ages but won't yet tell me when he needs to go - I have to watch discreetly and take him when I notice him fiddling or jiggling about. 2 accidents yesterday with poos in pants - does this take longer for them to get? He has also been dry at night for 2 mornings running - dare I yet leave the pull up off at night?

First day back at playgroup today and I am hoping they will not insist he wears a pull up - I will stick to my guns on this one as he is doing so well so far and don't want him to go backwards to wearing one.

Tip: ds always protests about going to the loo when I say it's time. I ignore it, stick him on the loo and tell him the grass is pink or that sheep say moo. That makes him laugh and forget about protesting and he then does a wee! Smile

cod · 24/04/2006 08:42

great work moonoo

irememeb with ds3 being able to relax when he had done his poo for that day!

i also found this quite funny - luckily

fuzzlepelts · 24/04/2006 11:41

Hooray - the penny has dropped - so to speak Grin. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday only 1 wee accident each day.

Tiggerpoohbear - I had this problem in January (I had a thread about it)and tried all these suggestions eventually bought some pop-up bodysuits from M&S (only place that does big enough ones!) and after a few weeks of wearing those she now no longer has any interest in taking the nappy off. You have my deepest sympathies though Grin

alittlebitshy · 24/04/2006 17:55

argh!!! another poo in the knickers. I am never in the room when it happens so i have no iodea if it is not registering or if she just does it cos it is easier.

grrr

who else is sorted totally wee wise but not there with poos????????

and how long does it effing take?

melsy · 24/04/2006 18:08

IM having exact same trouble alby , driving me looney , she did another in knickers today when sitting in friends garden , we got her to loo to finish off , but boy did she kick up a stink about it. ALL DAY ive been putting her on loo and to keep her there doing the grass is pink , sheep go moo song lol ,thanx moono ,keeps her amused but me AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

alittlebitshy · 24/04/2006 18:14

sympathy melsy!!!! i just can't tell when she's going to poo. no real pattern to it any more. never was as clockwork as some people (lucky lucky mums) say their los are!!!

I guess they get there eventaully. and although a poo is yuk yuk yuk (only 1 pair of pants been "disposed of" lol)i truly do feel the worst bit to get through was the getting them dry, so this is a small price to pay.

at home dd is mainly using loo seat (yay!!!!!)- you know, the unhygenic padded sort, but easier than a potty. when out I am taking it with us instead of potty and want to try to get her used to porta potty for those moments when you have NO CLUE ON EARTH where the nearest loo is lol.

anyone got tips on using porta potty or other advise for when out.

how is everyone else goin??

melsy · 24/04/2006 18:20

The only deffo poo time is 6:20 am BUMMERRRRR. Other than that its will she wont she ruin another pair of knickers(yes also binned a pair YUCKEROON) and when! DH had to deal wih that one , as it wasnt too good and I retch being pg ooh the shame Blush

moono · 24/04/2006 20:24

ds has had a completely dry day, at playgroup too! He still protests very loudly when I say it's time for a wee but with lots of distraction he does a wee. He still won't say when he needs to go - it is reliant on me watching for signs/the clock.

I have very bravely put him to bed without a nappy or pull up on as he didn't mention it when he went to bed He's been dry for 2 nights running so I thought it worth a try!

alittlebitshy · 24/04/2006 20:29

woooo. brave
dd has been dry for quite a few nights in a row now, but i think the security of nappy is nice (for her) at the moment. will deal with nights once poos are sorted, and once we've recoverd from this initial training lol

moono · 24/04/2006 20:35

hmmmmm, maybe a bit too brave. Might sneak up later and stick a pull up on him as I'm not so confident now I'm sitting here thinking about it! I have the waterproof caboodle on the bed so I'm not bothered from that pov but would hate him to wet the bed and get upset. Will think about it.....

alittlebitshy · 24/04/2006 20:41

wasn't trying to confuse you, just my view re my dd iyswim

Passionflower · 24/04/2006 21:09

alittlebitshy, we are totally sorted with wee but still no joy re poo. Likewise will do nights once poo sorted, but I don't think nights will take long cos nappy is dry most mornings - even when I have a lie in.

fuzzlepelts · 25/04/2006 09:33

Morning all, a question.... Whilst we are still down to only 1 accident a day max. at the moment -this is with me planting her on potty regularly and her producing something. How long might it take before she actually knows she needs to go and asks? Just wondered Smile

robin3 · 25/04/2006 09:48

Fuzzy...think it must be different for every child. After Day 3 DS never went when I asked him or put him on potty and sure enough back at nursery, where they have organised trips to the pottys, he's regressed. If I ask him because I can see the signs he says 'no' then 1 minute later he's announcing he does need to go and there's a massive giggly rush to said potty! He's stubborn like his Mum. Apparently DP has to have enimas when he was small because he refused to go for a poo for days on end! Amazing what you learn.

moono · 25/04/2006 12:46

alittlebitshy - I braved it and he was dry this morning - woohoo! He didn't protest too much when I put him on the loo either and he did a nice big wee. Very pleased so far.

fuzzlepelts - I was wondering the same as ds won't ask. He is taken and produces a wee. Means I can never totally relax as I am constantly watching discreetly for the signs. How old is your dd? My ds is 3.3 but has delayed speech which doesn't help matters.
