Frogs / COD - I will bow to your wisdom. Need to catch up with DH tonight as he has picked her up from nursery and I'm still at work. Will report tomorrow on how today at nursery went and will take her to nursery tomorrow without a nappy.....

Question is - did all of your children get upset or even did you mind if your kids got upset by the whole process?

cod · 19/04/2006 18:12

no never minded mine
i gtritted my teeth
a re you streesssing them/

Easy for me to talk, though as children are staying at in-laws till sunday, where dd2 will be able to have her poo accidents on MIL's ridiculous but highly-prized pale-cream carpet. Arf arf. Have told dh that if MIL puts dd2 back into nappies I will not be responsible for my actions. And I have my spies, I will find out... Grin

Cod

Another excellent day with 6 stickers (5 wees and a poo) BUT she seems to poo once in the day then as soon as she goes to bed does another in her nappy (has happened twice this week) what do you suggest?

meysey · 19/04/2006 20:07

melsey - lol at the wiping bit (sorry couldn't help myself!!)

We are on Day 11 and no accidents today. But a lot of prompting from me. Nursery tomorrow for the first time since boot camp - not sure whether he'll get all confused. At least they are supportive "no pullups" they said when we discussed potty training at Easter.

cod · 19/04/2006 21:25

lol don ttell them you are on an online baby boot camp!

Back from Easter break.

All done...3 days and he got it. Thanks Cod I was dreading it but cold turkey on the nappy front was the way forward and since day 3 of 7 he has only had one accident and it was because we'd gone to a farm.

Now we're trying to get our heads round the using public toilets when out and about and plan to practice on our toilet to get him used to it.

He goes back to nursery tomorrow so fingers crossed that doesn't set him back.

cod · 20/04/2006 10:05

well done robin

puff · 20/04/2006 10:09

ds2 fine on wees at home - completely dry. Poos are sometimes in toilet, not always.

he went back to playgroup yesterday and is having wee accidents (and one huge poo one), but he'll get the hang of it, there are lots of distractions there!

Anyone out there? Smile

cod · 20/04/2006 12:51

are you stikign to the rules? re read them

fuzzlepelts · 20/04/2006 13:06

Yes! NO nappies except at night time/long journeys and I put her on potty or toilet about every 30-40 minutes and try to distract her into sitting there for a few mins. It can be difficult to get her to stay there and the accidents are usually with 10 minutes of trying! Soooo frustrating.
This is what happens at home and nursery (she goes mornings) are being really supportive and patient (offering stickers etc.) She just lacks concentration I think.

fuzzlepelts · 20/04/2006 13:37

Got to go and pick the wee machine up now - check in in the morning

wellsie · 20/04/2006 19:29

Hi Fuzzlepelts, DS is 2.3mths and we've been training since last Wednesday. He still isn't getting it, although as long as I remain vigilant we aren't haven't too many accidents. Am putting him on the potty every hour or so and he will go pretty much straight away. When he is having an accident he is aware of it and will either stop midflow or tell me where the mess is Smile
I too believe DS lacks concentration and just can't be bothered with the need to have to go on the potty to do a wee or poo. Lots of bribing has been involved and star stickers are all over the place!!
I've been following this thread but this is the first time I've put a posting on it. I too was hopeful that he might get it within the week but I think it just may take longer. Am not going to put him back into nappies or training pants so will just deal with the accidents as and when. Baby no2 is due at the end of June so I've got to soldier on.
Every child is different and even though ours are taking longer at potty training than some they'll get there.

cod · 20/04/2006 19:38

well done wellsie

fuzzlepelts · 21/04/2006 08:10

Thanks Wellsie - it's good to know I am not alone!! Having had a good moan yesterday morning, it got much better - only one accident and that was at nursery so I was very chuffed! I too am not going to give up - it's just tempting to throw the towel in when you're having a bad day.
Thanks for the support ladies Smile

Latz · 21/04/2006 18:59

Well a success story for you Cod, after the first 2 days with only one wee in the loo I was ready to give up. Now we haven't had an accident since last Friday.

The only thing is she woke me up at 1am wanting a wee (Still wearing nappies at night for now but I don't think much longer!)

Thanks for all the support folks :)

Passionflower · 21/04/2006 21:38

Not really a success story here. We are still having loads of accidents and apart from on one day during boot camp early on she is still only going on the potty when I tell her to. However it's not so bad that I'm not going to stick at it now.

Thanks coddy and everyone for your words of wisdom and support Smile

cod · 21/04/2006 21:48

carry ot elling pf

looneytune · 22/04/2006 08:44

Morning everyone.

So pleased to hear of your success stories, for those having problems, just stick at it, it WILL get better! :)

After a messy start, I'm sooooooo pleased to be able to say that ds hasn't had any accidents since last Saturday (day 8), poos in potty are now not a problem (no more sneaking to put a pull up on to poo in it WinkGrin) and yesterday we had the potty in the bathroom and he went up on his own for lots of wees and poos by himself then washed his own hands (just needed my help with wiping after poos and then of course to empty the potty!) - just shouted me after!

I've shut the stair gate this morning so that he actually has to ask me so I can try and switch to toilet rather than potty (although he's fine using it, has in public etc).

QUESTION

For those with boys, if they are using the toilet have you taught them sitting on it or standing up? It would be easier for me if ds could take himself to the toilet but he would only be able to do this standing up (as he sits on one of those softies and needs me to put him on the seat) HOWEVER, I worry about him getting infections due to germs as obviously his willy (sorry!) is likely to touch the toilet ifswim.

Advice?
