Kitty, did he have a 3 month check, because thats the norm.

Kittypickle · 24/01/2004 21:30

No 3 month check, so that explains it, thanks Bekki!

BekkiKay · 24/01/2004 21:34

Oh I see. Glad to help. Which tooth did he get

I was more obsessive with DS2 weight than DS1 which I suppose is abit odd really.
We had problems with DS2 pregnancy so I think I got him weigh so much just to make sure I was doing everything right and that there was nothing wrong. There wasn't BTW, he's a little horror but I don't think that show up on scans

Oddly enough when I compare all 3 red books they could be the same baby. At each weigh in there has been 1 or 2 oz between each of them as babies. The all started just above the average line (centile lines are a pain in the arse) and at about 15 weeks went (just)below it and continued to gain weight along that line. So many people have said much they look alike, but I doubt they realise just how similar they are. They're my 'Peas in a pod'

princesspeahead · 24/01/2004 21:51

teeth! wow... I'm not expecting any for a while (my other two were around 9 months when they produced their first) but I guess I should start checking every so often...
Miles fine, eating a lot, but beginning to drink much less milk (seems to drink about 4-5 oz, and then refuses the rest and looks for food! piglet!) and then wake in the night hungry.. hmmmm. Not sure what to do. I've been limiting the solids (lunch and supper) so that he DOESN'T drop his milk - maybe I should just let him eat whatever solids he likes? And put extra milk in his solids?
Sorry, rambling on. If anyone understands my previous para, I'd be grateful for your thoughts...

EmmaTMG, glad you have chilled about the weighing... I was feeling most inadequate for not weighing mine! But I did the other day - at a friends house (she has my baby scales) - 17lb 2oz. I think he is a bit of a porker - filling up 12mth clothes as well....

BekkiKay · 24/01/2004 21:59

Emma- I compared my two boys red books. DS1 at 12 weeks weighed 16lbs 4oz! DS2 at 14 weeks weighed 13lbs. I never realised itr was possible to have two such different children, personality and looks wise.
Pph- This is probably obvious btdt advice, but offer him milk before solids and after solids. I f he wakes in the night don't give him more in the day just give him his extra night feed, hes going through a growth spurt imo. HTH.
What foods have you all tried with your babes? What did they think of them?

emmatmg · 24/01/2004 22:12

PPH, James, as you all know couldn't care less about his milk so I ALWAYS mix his food with baby rice and extra milk. That way he only leaves a couple of ounces otherwise it would be about 4-5. As he gets older I will reduce the rice so that he real food gets 'stronger' and increase it's amount accordingly. Hope that makes sense.

17lb 2oz! I bet he's got loads of lovely wrinkles hasn't he

BekkiKay · 24/01/2004 22:22

Alex has finally put on enough weight to get those dimples on his knuckles. Hes also got that roll of fat around his wrist, so cute!

emmatmg · 24/01/2004 22:27

Oh, forgot to ask ....has anyone started rolling over yet? From back to front?

James has done it quite a few times now and I'm amazed as I'm sure the other two didn't do it this early. Have I got a genius on my hands...I doubt it but I'll enjoy the thought until you all say 'yes doing it for weeks'

BekkiKay · 24/01/2004 23:13

Sounds like a genius to me Emma! Alexander is carried for most of the day so I'm sure he will lag behind everyone else but he is fantastic with coping people. Yesterday dh was clapping and sticking his tongue out and amazingly Alex started doing the same. Well I thought it was amazing anyway

princesspeahead · 24/01/2004 23:18

thanks for that bekki- yes I have a feeling it may be a growth spurt so I'll humour him and feed him at night if he asks - he has been so good about sleeping 13 hour stretches though, it is tough to get woken again! I try and give him most of his milk before solids, which used to work, because he won't take any afterwards.
rolling emma - how advanced! no sign of that from my boy. but if you put him on his front and put a toy just out of his reach, he will get up on his knees with his chest still on the floor and push himself across to the toy on his chest. looks very funny, esp as he is usually naked after his bath when I subject him to this, and I love seeing his little bottom waggling in the air!

BekkiKay · 24/01/2004 23:26

13 hours! I think I'm missing out on alot of sleep by bf and not offering solids yet. Its very tempting, but no I don't think hes ready for food yet. Last night was the first night that Alex slept from midnight through till 7 for about three months. He normally wakes every 3 hours.
Everyones babies are so much more advanced than Alex. Is this a tinge of worry. I'm not going to compare, I'm not going to compare, I'm not.....

princesspeahead · 24/01/2004 23:35

bekkikay, don't think they are more advanced! My ds1 did this sort of bum in the air thing early, but was NINETEEN MONTHS before he took his first step LOL!! It really doesn't mean anything. And solids doesn't make them sleep (actually solids has stopped mine sleeping!), so do whatever is right for your little one. Mine is just huge and ravenous and practically put himself on solids.

Poor you with every three hours though, I'd be a wreck, I love my sleep. Better go and get some now. Night!

Beccarollover · 30/01/2004 20:21

we are quiet arent we!

Harvey has the beginnings of a tooth! Can just feel the sharp edge coming through now - Im really pleased the little blighter has appeared as H has been out of sorts for a few days, I was starting to worry my angel baby had gone for good!!!! He has been much better today feeding properly again, sleeping well and have high hopes for getting my 13 hours back again tonight (been waking last 2 nights)

How is everyone else doing?

suzywong · 30/01/2004 20:31

Can I please join?
It's a bit late but i have ds2 who came on 8th Sept.
No teeth but great big gummy grin.
Angel by day but wakes me up every 2 hours at night

princesspeahead · 30/01/2004 23:16

snap suzie! my ds2 was born at 10.40ish on 8 Sept. What a good day for it!
No teeth though, becca... mind you not expecting them for some time, my other two were 9mths+ when their first tooth came though.
Eating for England though. Huge bowl of food and then smaller bowl of pudding at lunch, big bowl of fruit and rice at suppertime. No breakfast yet... is Harvey on breakfast Becca?

Beccarollover · 30/01/2004 23:22

No but Im considering it

Not sure whether to give more at lunch and dinner or add a breakfast as he does seem to be extra hungry at the mo

How many oz is Miles taking at the mo PPH?

I wasnt expecting any teeth any time soon either, Megan was 11 months before her first!

princesspeahead · 30/01/2004 23:28

he has slowed down on the milk a bit. lets think - about 7oz twice a day, about 6 oz 3 times a day. what's that?
thinks very slowly
32 oz? sometimes I can slip a bit more into his food, so say between 32-35 oz a day at the mo I think.

I've upped lunch because he was hoovering it all down and asking for more - but haven't added breakfast because his morning milk feed seems to be enough to get him through to the next feed quite happily... sure that will change soon....

must go to bed, v tired, will catch up with you tomorrow becca, sleep well x

BekkiKay · 31/01/2004 00:17

I tried Alex on solids the other day he just wasn't at all interested. I thought he was ready because he likes to hold a spoon and copy us when we eat but he wouldn't open his mouth.
When you say your little ones are eating, are they actually eating or just licking it? I can't believe I've forgotten all of this stuff already!

Beccarollover · 31/01/2004 10:35

When harvey sees the spoon and bowl - he squeals with delight, opens his mouth gaping wide and starts kicing his legs 60 to the dozen generally very very excited!! He opens his mouth for each spoonful, sometimes slurping it off the spoon then eats it down - we get very little coming back out - all goes down.

emmatmg · 31/01/2004 11:40

Ditto about the food here. James gets sooooooooo excited when he sees the bowl.
He hates fruit though.....anything fruity in fact. Do you think it's okay if he has veg at lunch and dinner? He seems to like any veg I give him so if I vary it betwenn the meal, it should be okay, shouldn't it?

Blimey, I know what you mean about forgetting it all Bekki.

pie · 31/01/2004 11:42

Anyone know what's happened to Wiltshire?

Bekki · 31/01/2004 16:59

Oh I guess hes just not ready then. Nevermind its just one less thing for me to worry about for a while.
Wiltshire is about occasionally but she doesn't come here very often. Little Max is doing really well, hes on solids, sleeping through and he is now in the all clear form the hospital over the whole TB incident.

Bekki · 31/01/2004 17:00

Oh I got my name back! I've given up trying to understand how computers work.

Kittypickle · 31/01/2004 17:32

Joseph isn't really into solids, so I'm leaving it for a bit. He's much more excited about trying to drink a bit of water from a beaker. I think giving him veg at both meals sounds fine Emma. Having said that I didn't have a clue what I was doing last time round and am not much better this time so don't listen to me!
