APRIL PROCRATINATORS THREAD

I thought I'll start this one as I am, without a doubt, the worst procratinator among you all (failed to submit the second tma on this course).

So...my next deadline is April 5th and it's on A Portrait of A Lady and A Woman in White.

How's everybody else getting on?

Nope Blush

Tutor told me today to call the regional centre to ask for a late submission and to send him whatever I have written.

But then I would have to lie to them-I don't suppose "I couldn't get my shit together' is a reasonable excuse?

So now I haven't got a chance of even 2.1 Shock. Unless I do well on the exam and they bump me up.

Weird. I did well on my previous course and in a way it was a more difficult one.

He has already given me a maximum extension-he isn't allowed to give me more time.

I've been reading the material, writing a bit here and there for weeks now...it's crap, not finished and I can't bear to look at it anymore.

Pathetic, I know.

I still have 4 more modules to do for my degree, so a shitty result for this one shouldn't really affect the final outcome, but ffs. I can't figure it out, either.

When's your due?

That's sweet of you to say that Smile No, I won't drop it, and I hope a 2.2 for OCAS will shake me up a bit iyswim. Even DP agreed that I might need that.

What are doing being awake before 6am, though???

Shock

Poor you, what a nightmare. Are you bruised all over as well?

I'm feeling a bit more optimistic today. Reading's going well, so I'm hoping to start on the tma in a few days time.

I am feeling all misery - should I just jack it all in, I am not bright enough, I am too old to remember things the 18 yr olds remember in a flick of a finger etc etc.

And Proles - re the perfectionist sabotage - with you on that one. And my own personal ego fav - "gutted I am not the smartest" bit also.

I have done an OK job on my essay yet I know it could be better and I hate that I am not motivated enough to improve it but expect a top mark!! aggh. Oh and to top it all, the sun is shining and it is BEAUTIFUL outside.

winnybella · 19/03/2011 11:22

Which course are you doing, MUS?

OP posts:
wildstrawberryplace · 19/03/2011 12:49

winnybella are you doing the OU 19 century lit course? I'm thinking of that for my next one. How do you rate it?

wildstrawberryplace · 19/03/2011 12:52

proles just seen your post about your fall! Bloody hell. Hope you're OK. What a fright.

oh I hope things go well Proles - LLB Law part time Winny - I found OU v hard - my hat goes off to anyone getting a degree on the OU. You are better people than me!

ilythia · 19/03/2011 19:31

evening ladies.
Current situation, I have a presentation due on april 8th and then 2 research projects due beginning of may and june, which means I need to start doing the investigations for them...er....next week

What is massive pita is I have to plan lessons as well as all this, so I have 12 lessons to plan for next week, which means I have no time to do my essays.

winnybella · 19/03/2011 22:52

wildstrawberryplace-it's pretty good. Lots of critical esssays to get through,though- I found it much more demanding than A210-obv. though, as that one was level 2.

I would definitely recommend it.

Proles- you'll be fine, just do all the reading you can now, while you're recuperating.

MUS- I would imagine law is quite boring tough- I doubt I could do it, tbh. How have you been doing so far wrt marks?

OP posts:

2:1 and it is my first year. It is REALLY HARD. You have to remember SO much, ie cases and precedents and my brain is not as fast or able to retain information as it could 30 years ago. However, I love it and I do believe that all degree subjects (apart from the one in caligraphy which my daughter saw whilst looking for Uni's for her degree)are hard hard work.

And OU is hard anyway because it is distance learning. I did OU for a year and then switched to Uni - I sucked on OU and admire anyone doing the OU.

winnybella · 21/03/2011 07:40

2:1 is great Smile

Personally, I think it would be as hard for me to work consistently at the brick university as it is at the OU at the mo, tbh. But then I take the art of procrastination to a new level.

Right, I have 2 novels to read before the tutorial on Sunday and then a week to write the tma.

OP posts:
webwiz · 21/03/2011 14:26

Hope you're ok Prolesworth.

I haven't got any April deadlines but I've got an exam at the beginning of May so I'm going back through the course at the moment trying to make sense of the bits I had to rush through. I have spent the morning looking through a chapter that I have no recollection of ever seeing or reading before. I have a nice set notes on it that I obviously made at some point though as evidence that I have read it before!

dinasaw · 22/03/2011 10:26

TMA 02 is due on 15th April for AA100. It is a reflective assignment where we have to re-write part of TMA01. Of course I have not got TMA01 back yet so can't get started. So I have a reason for procrastinating right now! I'm sure when I do get TMA 01 back I will find something else to do instead!
