APRIL PROCRATINATORS THREAD

winnybella · 16/03/2011 22:51

I thought I'll start this one as I am, without a doubt, the worst procratinator among you all (failed to submit the second tma on this course).

So...my next deadline is April 5th and it's on A Portrait of A Lady and A Woman in White.

How's everybody else getting on?

Proles Shock

You absolutely cannot give up now! Hand in whatever you have written and then concentrate on the last tma and eca.

I have to get 2 firsts to get pass 3 overall and I'm not giving up.

Don't waste the six months or so that you've already done.

Still reading POAL-well, not today as it's Wednesday so no school for DS. Going to the park in a sec. Am cautiously optimistic re:this assignment.

Haven't you been getting v.good marks anyway? I think if you're high 2.1 overall and do really well on ECA, they may bump you up to first.

In any case, as you say, it won't do any difference to your degree classification and if you quit now, you'll have to redo the year.

But one-off pass 3 tma (even though probably you'll get more) shouldn't matter that much- if you'll get a first for the next one and for the eca, then you'll still get first in ocas, right?

Get on with it!

OP posts:
winnybella · 30/03/2011 16:47

I mean if you'll get first for the next one for first for ocas as eca is the equivalent of exam, doh.

Well done for writing 600 words. Just think of the poor idiot (me) who didn't submit 2 assignments and now has to fight for a pass 3. Oh, the shame.

You can still get your distinction.

Oh, you'll get a half-decent mark I'm sure.

I've just had 3 drops of cognac (the last 3 drops of alcohol in the house) and am making tea and going to read James.

Btw, out of curiosity, how long would it take you to read 550 pp novel? Obv., if it was Marian Keyes, I would read it in a few hours, but I find I'm quite a slow reader otherwise-I like to savour every word and can't skim-read. And James's convoluted sentences don't make an easier task. I have to finish it by tomorrow so then have Fri and the weekend to write. I've only read about 70 pages Blush

OP posts:
winnybella · 30/03/2011 19:58

don't make it

Good luck Prolesworth I'm sure you'll do better than you expect.

Winny I have a tendency to read without taking anything in. I have found that reading aloud helps but my kids think I am mad.

I have done quite a bit of the TMA that is due tomorrow but my bum has gone numb.

OMG I need to join you all! I have read through this thread and my heart goes out to everyone who is struggling with workloads at the moment.

I am currently in the final year of my joint hons education and english literature degree and I am on the verge of either flunking out or defering, I just can't get my head around what I need to do and I appear to have lost the ability to write an essay!

So here is what I have to do and for when;

15min presentation on feminist theory using Zadie Smith's White teeth - 27th April

Prep for a PGCE interview including mini lesson - Interview date 28th April

9000 word dissertation -- May 13th (I will be starting a new thread for this as it has all just gone tits up)

3000 word essay on feminist theory -- May 24th

3000 word essay on educational ideology -- June 6th

Not much there then is there? Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!

madwomanintheattic · 04/04/2011 22:48

four days left a work! Grin

proles, my lovely, what are you up to? have you called your tutor and gone through everything?

at the end of the day, deferring isn't the end of the world, and it would all work out ok, but you need to be really certain. you've worked so hard , and have your next step lined up, so don't defer unless you really have to.

sometimes (as you know Wink) it is the only way though.

chin up.

Get on with it, Proles.
I have 250 pages of POAL to read tonight.

OP posts:
winnybella · 05/04/2011 11:33

POAL done (well, will need to search for quotes still)
Now little break, then 2-3 hrs for the course book and a couple of critics' essays.
Then a break, then write the essay.

Ouch, Jacqueline. That does seem like a lot. I'm sure you can do it-make a study plan and stick to it.

madwoman-so 4 days til you have to start studying?

Proles- as I said, get on with it- I've only finished the second novel today and still have to read lots and write the bloody thing as I have to submit it at 1 am.
If I will get a good grade for it (me being so lazy and having so little time to write it), won't it motivate you a bit to finish your essay? Btw, strange about your tutor not replying Confused

Right I have done nothing today. This is not good!

I'm thinking of taking a year out at the end of my degree (if I get through the next 2 months obviously). I feel under huge amounts of pressure and worrying about looming interviews etc is not helping.

Also my mind set has shifted over the past 2 months. Teaching is what I started back in education for and for 5 years I have worked towards becoming a teacher. However, I suddenly have a huge urge to become a social worker in fact the thought of working as a social worker excites me far more than teaching ever has.

So shall I take a year out to relax a little and get some really good work experience in at the same time to help my decisions? I have young 3 dc's at home I would like to spend a little more time with and DP begins his Uni course in September so it could be a very good time for me to just take it down a notch.

Not to mention I am supposed to be having an operation over the summer and getting married.

It's no wonder my brain wont work at the moment!

winnybella · 05/04/2011 20:33

Race against time begins! 3.5 hours til deadline...

Hour-and-a half...hope tutor won't mind if I'll submit it an hour late? He's a lovely guy.

Shit, shit, shit.

OP posts:
Jaquelinehyde · 05/04/2011 22:50

Oh my goodness Winny! What have you got left to do? Actually don't answer that, get of here and write, write, write!

winnybella · 05/04/2011 23:36

Still about 800 words. It's a stream of consciousness essay at the mo. I'm hoping to stick some quotes in to make the word count. Why, oh why, do I...fuck it, I won't say that again.

I never learn.

OP posts:
NormanTebbit · 05/04/2011 23:38

You are not alone. I have just written 2000 words of shit sparkling prose and am now trying to make sense of it refine it to make it legible brilliant.

winnybella · 05/04/2011 23:53

I'm not alone, yay Grin
But your deadline isn't in 8 minutes, is it?
Oh, God, this is the worst piece of shit I have ever produced. It's awful.

OP posts:
winnybella · 06/04/2011 03:31

I have finally submitted. 3 hours late. It's 4.30 am here. The essay's so so bad
