(not that there's anything wrong with her front I think)

francaghostohollywood · 21/10/2009 08:19

Hi, sorry I disappeared yesterday, I got distracted by episodes of la famiglia bradford on youtube

How old are your dc camo and sputnik? Are they just 5? I wouldn't worry about their writing. I know they are expected to in the English system and by all means help them with tracing etc (btw I do have lots of exercising books, sputnik I can make photocopies and send them to you)...
A combination of practicing and growing up is the answer
I think ds was classed as a desperate case in the UK. He is 7 now and his calligrafia is very good, especially in corsivo (but he still writes acqua without the c. grrrrrrrrrrrrr)

Let me know I can make thousands of photocopies.

Pippi, btw I still remember I promised to copy ds's reading book, but I realized it's a totally different method than what we did ourselves. Do you think it's useful anyway?

Morning all......
Glad Nanny is happy Penthe!
Eeek to Nick Griffin- how can a man physically resemble so closely what he is like he does, it's amazing....dontcha think???

Had huge mega trauma with dd over the last couple of days....I honestly have not recognised her as my child (was tempted to post under new name in one of the school sections but know there would be little point as no non-Italian could ever grasp the fecking "importance" of compiti etc......
In a nutshell, tantrums, kicking, screaming, doing compiti wrong "giusto per...." colouring like a 2 yr old....refusing to eat.....Monday afternoon she sat in front of a bowl of pasta e lenticchie (requested by her Monday morning) for 2 hrs refusing to eat them....then another 4 hrs doing rubbish compiti...was sent to her room more times than I can remember....Big Serious Talks ensued........ she hates me, she wishes she had been born in another family....(isn't this supposed to come when they are 15 and wear black all the time???)

Yesterday at lunch she told me she had been "sgridata" and put in "punizione" by the maestra who had also written in her book that she needs to work better.....Another Big Talk...then suddenly whoosh, she transforms into angelchild again....did her compiti perfectly, was sweetness and light.....This morning, the maestra called me over to say that dd doesn't want to try and do things she isn't sure of, she refuses to read words on the board "no lo so fare" and always has a "rispostina" ready..... I told maestra that she'd been the same at home and hopefully it was a combination of the impact of schoo/compiti/learning where the boundaries are (maestra looked at me with that Planet Zog face, having been teaching for 30 yrs and yet evidently knowing diddley-squat about the theory of education etc) She said she puts them in punizione near the wall but "non funziona" (ma va......???)

Was thinking also how mad this all is, these children are just 6, they are doing sodding "corsivo" for up to 5 hrs a day at school and then come home and are expected to do another 2 or 3 hrs.

Eeek to ginormous ranty mememememe post....

Just hope today the fact that the maestra said all this to me in front of dd doesn't make her "naughty" again......she had promised me she's going back to the "good little girl who works hard and never gets shouted at".

Pfffft.

Bucharest · 21/10/2009 09:07

PS Just been on phone to divorced-friend who is going into school for formal meeting with her maestra as the maestra has called her son "imbecile" because he did something wrong in his book and used as a question in class..."What does your mother do to conquer your father if she wants a new pellice?" If dd's teacher asked that dd would be completely lost- she knows vaguely I think that mummy thinks pellice are repulsive, but she also knows that if mummy wants something she is perfectly capable of buying it herself without having to conquer anyone!

Camomilla · 21/10/2009 10:35

Bucharest, we have this with ds nearly every w-end when he has homeworks to do, a lot better in the last month or so, but we had massive tantrum with 1 hour of "i'm dying" when put in naughty step after a lot of shouting and crying and being just a nightmare because he had to read.... tough not bad at school, the teacher said that she noticed him being more relaxed etc, now that he got used to new teacher/system, so maybe it's just that, she's just getting used to it, testing the boundaries (toys taken away from DS helped a lot too..)

My worst nightmare though would be DS to be like my DB.... my poor mum spending every day hours sat next to him to do compiti (and on saturdays if he got off the schoolbus crying, she was in tears too as that meant poem to learn by monday (we were still old system, school 5 mornings a week)

but I'm so at the pellicce comment! I mean, I know there are backwards people where I'm from but never heard a more sexist materialistic comment! and from a teacher!! maybe your friend should ask her what did she (the teacher) do to get her job

Rosa · 21/10/2009 13:27

WTF Buch - what a totally silly question that would drive me insane and I would probably go headling in and say something stupid. Re dd hope the tantrums are passato and she can settle in happy.
Franca they are the suede boots with a wedge heel - very trendy for me but for £35 I will wobble walk round and enjoy them.
Minirosa seems a bit better today but she has a low febbre and will see if it goes up later.
Penthe glad your nanny is working out ok.
As for this corsiva writing I am dreading it to be honest in fact I am dreading this whole compiti thing but maybe it will finally be my chance to learn to write Italian properly so I should order 2 books when dd starts !!!
A girl from dd materna came up to me and showed me her quaderno for inglese ..aww bless I don't even know her !!!!

OP posts:
Camomilla · 21/10/2009 13:45

wow Rosa, you're already popular
hope DD's temp stays down

and wedge heel boots are great for not wobbling!

hope bigpippi's ok, pippi hasn't been on since.

so, who's getting the vaccine?

Bucharest · 21/10/2009 13:55

I love suede...should have been old enough in the 70s to wear suede patchwork skirts, I always hanker after them lol.

Boden winter catalogue just arrived, hmm, wish PON money would too, then I could go maaaaaaad....they keep telling me it's imminente....

I'm not having any vaccines.....(reminds me, must rimandare the varicella for next Monday- don't want dd going bonkers again...) My friend told me this morning that the reason she has been tantrumming is probably because I had given her eggs to eat at the same time as antibiotic treatment- apparently it's (another) life-threatening no-no I didn't know about. Her suocero the medico di famiglia says so.....(am wondering if she's confusing vaccines which contain egg products that may cause allergic reactions?????)

Off for the compiti nightmare....(although dd seems v calm and nice today and says she wasn't shouted at once.....)

Rosa · 21/10/2009 14:19

My 2 are having the normal flu one as paed suggested it and I have decided that I have to put my trust somewhere. As for piggy will wait and see by the time it gets here anyway we will probably have all had it!
Re the eggs - My MIl said that as well no eggs and no grasso - tipo proscuitto also if they have to have it 3 times a day then it has to be at 8 hr intervals so you have to wake them at midnight or whatever . No reasoning with her either so I just say yes.

OP posts:
Camomilla · 21/10/2009 14:24

hmm, didn't know about the eggs thing, but saying that, my ex manager (UK) who was a bit of a nutri-natural healing expert etc mentioned s.thing about eggs and antib... but can't remember what she said....

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/10/2009 19:04

Hello! Have not read thread: just a quick update in case you were wondering what had happened to us.
Bigpippi still with temp around 38.5 and horrid cough and cold . Seemed clear today and hoped for school tomorrow but not quite allright tonight. Might stay home tomorrow as well. ope she'll be okay for friday's hallowen party bless. Minipippi was well except for bad cough but tonight she showed some signs of temp as well.

I am going stir crazy locked in. The nights are also bad with both waking up at regular intervales because of the coughing.

Later if I have the energy or time.

francaghostohollywood · 21/10/2009 19:13

Oh Pippi, poor dds . There seems to be a flu going around (I wonder if it's the dreded suina) that drags on for days and days. I was talking to another mum at school and her small dd has been unwell since friday.
And I do know what it feels like being caged at home with 2 poorly dc

Rosa, I like the sound of your suede boots (I love suede too!), wear them with a big smile

Bucharest, I can't believe the pelliccia question I can't believe there are people like that still around, I thought they were all extinct!
As for your dd, I'm afraid to say, it's totally normal behaviour for a little one who's just started school. Poor thing, it is a big change and for some children more than others having to "deliver" can be quite stressful. I had/have the same from ds... who today has apparently got a negative note on his quaderno di italiano, because he made too many mistakes, because he is always chatting away. arghhhhhhhhh. What am I going to do with him?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/10/2009 19:45

Caught up with the thread now but I have got no energy to contribute in anyway. Please forgive me.

Took bigpippi to the doctor only because he had asked to see her when he heard she was given code for antiviral and said that it could be or not be, they won't know without swabbing, but that in majority of cases it should clear with paracetamol-ibuprufen. I'll have to contact him again if it persist for over 5 days, which might be the case . Obviously with minipippi will have to be more alert due to past breathing issues.

Thanks for Cuba Libre Franca, 'tis well needed. How I wish I had family around[miserable emoticon].

Rosa · 21/10/2009 19:55

Pippi you poor thing I think it sounds as if you will have to have the halloween party another day ( the streghe will never know). I feel for you as having just been though the 2 ill and sleepless nights sending you huge cyber support....It will get better and I hope soon for you all.
DD and I made a lemon meringue pie I now have a very sticky kitchen as she got a bit enthusiastic with the electric whisk... She normally holds in in the bowl but she lifted it..It was very funny as meringue went over her as well and she just calmly sat there and licked every bit off with her finger !!!

OP posts:
francaghostohollywood · 21/10/2009 20:05

I know my dear, Pippi, I know. I remember too well, what it was like . But you'll be fine, because you are a strong woman. By here's the cuba libre on your way ...

Rosa, a lemon meringue pie? How delicious! Recipe?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/10/2009 20:06

LOL Rosa thanks ! I shouldn't be so bloody miserable as you all have been through it and you are all on your own like me. If nothing else this has taught me a lesson - never moan about your daughter going to school - what was I thinking? Those few hours where silence reigned are now filled by "Maaaammmmaaaa ho il moccichinoooooo!" "Maaaammaaaaa mi prendi i coloriiiii" "Maaamaaaaaa mnipippi mi da fastidio.... " "[insert your own]".

Oh Rosa great news about teaching.

francaghostohollywood · 21/10/2009 20:15

Pippi, lol, yes... schools are great

Rosa · 21/10/2009 20:16

I know Dd1 has learnt to blow her nose - thankfully no green snot dripping I HATE that. But it is the moccoli - NOW bit. Minirosa just gets chased with a muslin square and you just aim for the nose and wipe as much as you can .Mind you now she sees it coming and tries to hide.
Lemon meringue you need cornflour not sure what you call it here- Tis sooo easy and Dh loves it he ate it from the dish [pig emotion]
lemon pie
ignore the pastry bit.Buy rotolo of pasta frolla - you need a dish that is about 5cm deep and grease it with butter so it doesn't stick.

As for lifting it out of the dish not a hope !!!

OP posts:
francaghostohollywood · 21/10/2009 20:21

Oh thanks my dear.
I feel like a sheet mother, as both my dc never actually blow their nose. They resist it, and tirano su and don't listen to me. Tis all my fault.

francaghostohollywood · 21/10/2009 20:23

Is it me or is it quite difficult to make it?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/10/2009 20:29

No mine both can, even minipippi. Problem is the big one is soooo lazy and queenlike she constantly sits on a throne and calls you for everything. The other one does everything by herself but at her age is more mess than gain.

yumi will try that!

today I have eaten some lovely things made with puffpastry filled with whickes egg whites, sugar, grated chocolate and walnuts!!! It was simple and deeeeelicious.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/10/2009 20:29

whisked, not whickes

francaghostohollywood · 21/10/2009 20:30

Mine can too, but can't be bothered doing it, especially ds. They are just so selvatici. My fault.

mmm that sounds delicious. I made a choc cake yesterday and it was crap.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/10/2009 20:31

Not sure if it is the way Delia explains it but it seems as if it is quite a faff that can go badly wrong if one of the children calls you at the wrong time. Rosa enlighten us pls!
