I have just reread my message, sorry, it really sounds like a rambling sviolinata!

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 20:22

No, it doesn't mcc. It hurts to see a place you love getting worse and worse. Italian problems are so huge and depressing .

I'm a firm believer in tempo pieno though. I think it was a great feminist conquest (does this word exist? boh!). I thought that there weren't many resources for tempo pieno in the south.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 20:24

Don't think for this one as Mucca would chose for her. The other ones with his previous wife, stella and co, went to a local scondary comp to the of all.

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 20:32

stella went to local comp? Wow, I'm impressed! But linda was a compagna, wasn't she?

I love the beatles btw.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 20:33

franca is right it does sound a love song for a lost one. And it is true. Like I said I am not that knowledged about italian situation but what I see/hear when I go there shocks me.

A friend tries to educate me but I have got no time, or maybe I prefer playing struzzo and hide as it is so sad to see your 'home' getting buried by a mountain of spazzatura.

(talking of which, one of the effects gomorra had on me is that I am skeptical now of cheap fruit and veg coming from italy. I know similar things might happen everywhere but I'd rather buy cherry tomatoes from uk than from italy - ! they are good though as expensive.)

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 20:38

see what comes up when you google stella state school

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 20:41

I eat tomatoes from mil and the children orchard

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 20:43

franca. everytime you mention your PIL's house in the country I see the one we had, and spent all our summers, and want to weep...

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 20:48

Was it in Umbria as well? I can't begin to imagine how amazing it must have been!

We all seem to have idyllic memories of our childhood. I used to spend lots of time with my nonna in a tiny village in Piedmont... ooooh it was good. And we were free!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 20:48

to change the subject: Camo and McC could you tell me what a Parent Rep does? Do I want to be one or not?

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 20:48

(I meant: was your country house in Umbria as well...sorry)

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 20:53

Oh franca we are all still devastated and upset since GD sold it to spite my dad 20 years ago.
It was idyllic: it produced wine, flower, corn, oil etc and had the most amazing orchard and animals. Admittedly it could be a bit boring at times but it was so bonding for my brothers and I as we had all these adventures and read a lot.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 20:54

yes only 8 km from centre of town but in full on country side. imagine that.I could go there with motorino, mind you at 14 it felt in the middle of nowhere .

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 21:00

oh no . It must have been a great place to grow up. I can totally see why you are still devastated about it

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 21:02

Only 8 km? Gosh Umbria is amazing. Come on, lets be optimistic (about italy) for just 4 secs and admit that Umbria is f* marvellous!!!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 21:05

Talking to you made me want to see it again and so I've just google earth-ed it and I am full of nostalgia... I can see me at 6 .

Yes umbria is fantastic, shame for the people .

francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2009 21:13

. What's this thing about the Umbrians?
You know that in the little town in le Marche where I used to go as a child (with the other nonna) one of the most common "insults" was "A' peruginno". The other, mostly directed to me and my cousins who lived up "north" was "A' magnagnocchi" .

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 30/09/2009 21:17

LOL!

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 22:00

fiinally dd's gone to bed!! it's always a struggle lately, but dp is a bit stronger than me, and with him doing his first shift at ikea i gave in and kept her up til she looked tired enough (she still complianed though)- funny though he's the strict one when he comes to bedtime, when he won't consider nursery/childminder/nanny til she can talk and walk properly! BUT she's finally taking steps!! she did a few this morning, to begin with she hadn't realised, then she probably thought she could stretch to the door, so she walked, and then across the kitchen to try catch the phone! at the doctors then she tried to follow another little girl!

anyway, yes, agree with all you said re italy and class/school. and I too have the rose tinted glaases on when I think back. but kind of the other way - I grew up in the country really, but loved visiting mum's cousing in milan and gp in france

pippi, we;lll sort s.thing out, hopefully I'll have the house decent enough, or we can meet half way. can see you though in santa outfit and DD1 with little helper's outfit too!

sorry, don't know much about parents school stuff

McCloudsextoy · 30/09/2009 22:00

oh, my goodness today i googled earthed the village where we used to spend our summer hols as a child..

yes there is tempo pieno, but you see most women have shitty jobs, even the ones with degrees, so you end up having a job schifoso, to leave your kids in a posto schifoso, the bit of extra cash you earn is spent on roba schifosa....so tempo pieno becomes tempo schifoso..it would make a difference if there were interesting jobs, worthful (is that a word?)..this feminist point of view has been taken by our consumeristic male dominated society and made women and children slave

i would like a society where both men and women work less, contribute more to do the shitty jobs, children have time to do nothing, where we buy less useless crap...

i think the generation of our kids is going to miss out on those long summers, with books, playing outdoors, hardly any toys,
using imagination and fantasy...

McCloudsextoy · 30/09/2009 22:04

Oh, no, she is walking.

For the parent thingy, could be a pita, why don't you wait and see for this year? I think it is better not to jump into these school things head first, say you will help out with everything of course. Then you get a feel for it.

McCloudsextoy · 30/09/2009 22:05

Sorry awful English in long post. Brain sleepy tonight.

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 22:11

well said mcc, let's start utopia

spent our summers in swimming costumes building houses with my dad's cardboard boxes from work, no tv at all in summer, and can't remember wanting it either, db and I were allowed to chose one cartoon each (candy candy for me and mazinga or l'uomo tigre for db) anyway

Camomilla · 30/09/2009 22:12

I know, am happy and sad at the same time...

apologies for my typing too, tiny keyboard...
