hi everyone, sorry to hear about all the poorly babies.

I thought I was better on sat, then my temp shot up on sat night, and the chills/aches start as soon as the tablets stop working. got a cough too, but don't know if it's pig flu. DD's got a cough too, but no temp, but we still spent over 2 hrs at A&E as she fell off the highchair just as I was trying to push some paracetamol tabs out of the box, banged her head and showered me 1.5 bottles of cheesy milk. so quick run to gp, where they told us to go to A&E, she seemed fine thank god, as they didn't see her til 2hrs later! only made us feel like abusive parents - ok, I did forgget to strap her in, but she can even get out of the strapps if she's really desperate to get out of it. as if I wasn't feeling a terrible mother already... anyway, they checked her over, but she's ok. and there was me hoping to sleep...

masseuse, tough one. When we moved here, I couldn't believe how we managed to survive without garden, but just this morning we were saying that if we could afford a big 3 bed flat in the new battersea complex, we'd go for it, because the park is just there and plenty for the kids to do, museums etc. but then, if it's all old poeple, don't know... and I love having the garden to hang the washing and sunbathe. couldn't you go for A, and then move after, once you've foiund your feet?

Rosa · 19/10/2009 14:23

Gio if the cough turns chesty then it is the same virus that we had up here just that dd managed to not shift it off her chest and got an infection.
Hope babies are better am having a VERY BAD DAY. ( minirosa was a rompe last night probably her cold.)
LOst my house keys had to get dh to come past and give me his . The ferramenta nearby no longer does copies of porta blindata. We were late for school. Washing machine broken and the bloody guarantee ran out 6 months ago We did an extension on the original. AM undecided if to call the 800 number or try a local person or say sod it and go buy another but somehow I need my washing out.....Minirosa took 1 hour to settle amongst screaming and more screaming . PLus she will not let me do anything round the house it is wearing me down........

poor Rosa, hope your day get better!!

francaghostohollywood · 19/10/2009 14:33

Rosa, what a disastrous morning. I'd get a tecnico asap. How old is your washing machine? Sadly it's often more convenient to buy a new one rather than fixing the old one, if that's old enough. It's convenient money wise, but not that green .

Camo gosh sounds like you have a vile influenza, you poor thing. And poor dd. Highchairs are evil btw.

Bucharest · 19/10/2009 14:34

Goodness everyone is in the wars! Hope everyone picks up soon!

Franca- yes, emicrania here, used to be much worse than they are now, it was monthly for years, now a couple of times a year. I have pills from the doc which seem to fight it off if I take them in time. ItalyDoc gives me them like packs of sweets, UKDoc moans about how much they cost all the time so I usually get them here!

Sputnik · 19/10/2009 14:37

I hope both of your days improve.
2 hours wait at A&E is ridiculous, do they not give children priority there?

Sputnik · 19/10/2009 14:39

If you're thinking of a new washing machine Rosa let me know. I'm good at shopping around for appliances and managed to get 20-30% off most of ours.

francaghostohollywood · 19/10/2009 14:43

Emicrania is awful Bucharest. I have various friends who suffer from it and they are always struggling with prescriptions and availability. They often can't manage to leave the bed for 2 days. Which also creates problems at work.

Camomilla · 19/10/2009 14:47

franca, it's the houdini-babies that are dangerous in them

Yes, sput, especially as it was a head + vomit thing. they have a separate paed unnit, but there was only 1 doc - actually, I saw 4, but one disappeared, two went in a room by the waiting room to talk, and there were only 2 kids there before us!! like to think that if she'd been "quiet" they'd seen her earlier.

Rosa · 19/10/2009 16:14

techno coming on Wed...Got the machine open everything is still swimming in it so its all in the bath !!!! Can't hang or lady downstairs will shoot me ..COuld do without it..maybe I will get to the bottom of teh ironing pile.
Camo I have this chair in the UK
chair

I want to get one here as well as honestly they cannot get out of it. YOu don't need to put the straps on even though they are there.
My proiblem is the kitchen chairs I have are not really suitable. Minriosa as well as being a rompe is houdini .......Hope that your dd is ok ...

look here!! I knew it was only a matter of time...

i think we've decided to go for option B... be gentle on me, it just felt like the right choice, hope i won't regret it...

JavierBardem · 19/10/2009 20:56

thank you MM for link, could not help going Heil Hitler at the Hando lady.

You must be so relieved to have made a choice! I am sure it will be great!

TheMysticMasseuse · 19/10/2009 20:59

yes i am relieved. now let's hope we get it...

francaghostohollywood · 19/10/2009 21:00

Oh there's been lots of threads on the subject . How uptight... e' tutta santaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I think you did the right thing following your heart, it's always the best choice ime (though the parisian flat by the park... I have a soft spot for that because I fell in love with a flat here in milan overlooking a park, in a palazzo d'epoca, which we can't afford )

Sputnik · 19/10/2009 21:18

Lol at the dirty foreigners peeing everywhere!
Good you have decided MM, is it january you move?

TheMysticMasseuse · 19/10/2009 21:27

yes january... franca i know but it somehow didn't feel us. i just think that a posh neighborood in one of the poshest cities in the world would be a bit too posh, and in the 'burbs we may actually get to meet nicer, more normal people... i think what clinched it for me was when the agent said that if we want to "entertain" a lot we should go for flat A, i suddenly had vision of MotherMystic 30 years ago having dinner parties for my dad's colleagues and that's one step too far towards stepfordification...

btw... london gals, do we know where we're meeting next week?

francaghostohollywood · 19/10/2009 21:31

I totally understand Masseuse, I would feel the same. I wouldn't want to live in the poshest area of a very rich city, you are right.

Camomilla · 19/10/2009 21:40

MM, was going to post that link earlier, conection went, but I knew a LI lady would spot it . glad you made a choice, and if you follow your heart, well, you won't have "what ifs".

DD's sat with DP. She's been fine and happy self all day, but didn't sleep - and still refuses to sleep. and tomorrow we need to get up earlier as we have school photos and need to be there at 8am to queue with DD to have one taken together with DS.

Yes, where are we meeting on Monday?

gio71 · 20/10/2009 10:10

Matchsticks please! Another awful night. Went to ped and ds has bronchitis . So done 2 aerosol so far-do your dcs go INSANE when you are trying to give them?
MM glad you picked flat you feel is right for you. Agree that if is so posh in A area then you are better with B. How are you feeling re the move now?
How are the other sick dcs?

Camomilla · 20/10/2009 10:15

poor DS, gio...

pippi, bigpippi ok? and the rest?

we had a coughing competition night, but DD's at least seems gone now.

gio71 · 20/10/2009 11:12

Camo how are you now? Meant to ask about you as well as the babies . Hate being ill when the kids are. I had ( a form of) sympathy from dp when I was ill on Sat until ds was ill on Sun and since then its like I don't exist!

francaghostohollywood · 20/10/2009 12:17

Hello! Gio sorry to hear ds is still ill. How are the other LI poorly children etc?

It's grey and cold here, how depressing. I might go and make a cake...

Rosa · 20/10/2009 13:30

Gio I am with you . Matchsticks at our end last night as well ( minirosa cold and temp)..... we had the same thing with dd1 a few weeks ago her nasty cough turned into a beast . Aerosol dd1 is ok we just turn up the cartoons . Minirosa has to pull the mask off , then try and eat the thing then jump up and down ...I try and do it when she is asleep and then I can get it under her nose ...We will be doing some later she has a temp again and is coldy . Dh taken her out ( DON'T TELL MIL) as she can't sleep in her cot despite raising the ends etc so she is wrapped up nice and warm and is being walked on a sunny fondamenta.
Saw that thread ...FGS
MM well doe on the choice hope it works out ok.
Wonder how big pippi is ?

Sputnik · 20/10/2009 13:39

Still lots of snot here but otherwise ok. In fact we should really get out the aerosol machine. Yes mine go wild with it too, actually DD has grown out of it thankfully but with DS I have to wait til he's asleep. When he was a baby he loved doing them.

francaghostohollywood · 20/10/2009 13:42

Oh I'd love to have a walk on the sunny fondamenta!

I hated the aerosol as a child. But when I got big enough to read I didn't mind doing it.
