Some of you will have read my threads on my neighbours but we are pushing to get moved, having the housing manager coming out tomorrow and I want to get out of here. My SIL is in Bolton and I have expressed an inerested in 2 houses up there. Homeless won't help because the police can't give me a letter, council want to me to start the eviction process (ie complain and get them to sort it out or face eviction) but I can't do that as I know it will make things worse. Now I need some help to get us moved, I have 2 disabled kids and they can't live like this, and I have to go out a lot for appointments etc and its so scary going out. Please help me.

Council lady just been, she wants us to go down the eviction route, I knew it, she said that we would be low prioty to be rehoused as this house is perfect for us. She can't understand why the police are saying we are lying.

Hi Sparkly. What do you mean - she wants you to provide evidence so they can evict the nasty neighbour rather than move you ?

nutcracker · 03/06/2005 15:32

Sm even with all the evdicence you have against the neighbour it is hihgly unlikely that they will be evicted and even if they are it takes ages and ages.

Wethere they are evicted or not is not the point here. You home is unsuitable anyway isn't it ???

Have just got back in but will have a think if there is anything else you can try and get back to you.

expatinscotland · 03/06/2005 15:35

Nutcracker
If her sad council or association is anything like ours, they'll try eviction before they move a tenant for whom they've made adaptions on the house. Those greedy gits don't care, all they think about it the money they've spent and what they'll have to spend if they move a tenant who needs adaptions.

Best of luck! I'd start filming these 'neigbhours' in action and hope the thug son goes back to jail soon.

nutcracker · 03/06/2005 15:39

Yep your right expat. When i was waiting to ne rehoused a 3 bed house became empty and it had rails inside and outside and a stair lift.

They told me that they were giving to a single women who needed the stair lift. I was gobsmacked, they could of easily given her a 1 bed ground floor flat.

When i asked them about it they said that there was no way they would remove the stair lift so the single woman got it.

Have to say it burnt to the ground a few months later.

nutcracker · 03/06/2005 15:41

The prob is though that eviction takes agggggggggges, and if sm's council are anything like my h/a they think it's all blown over when ever it goes quiet and then have to start the whole thing from scrath.

Anyway i thought the house was unsuitable even without the neighbour probs.

expatinscotland · 03/06/2005 15:47

It's ridiculous, isn't it, nut? Stuff like that happens all the time here.

In this area, we have a lot of people who do burn their place in order to get rehoused. Pitiful.

misdee · 03/06/2005 16:01

the house isnt pefect for you, fgs!! its adapted for ONE disbaled person, not two.

nutcracker · 03/06/2005 16:04

I would be very tempted to go to the papers, not about the neighbours but about the house not being adapted for 2 disabled kids.

Magscat · 03/06/2005 16:18

Sparkly - where are you? You ok?

It's good that the Councilor is coming - that'll put pressure on the Housing team. Get ready for her visit by listing ANY reason why the house isn't perfect (apart from the neighbour) so you can dispute the Housing Officer's argument about the house being "perfect".

If you can't argue against the house being 'perfect' then maybe say something like:
we understand why the Council wants to go for evction but given the serious risk to the family's safety they should move us first & then evict. We don't have time to wait for the legal process to take effect and we don't feel we would be safe even after the neighbour is evicted.

Have to go out now but will check back in this evening.

misdee · 03/06/2005 16:19

nutcracker · 03/06/2005 16:20
