Does anyone else by their children designer clothes apart from me?

Hi my ds is 13m and i find it so hard buying nice things for him. Of course he has got a few bits from mothercare,next,marks and spencers and asda but occasionally i would like him to wear something different. These places never seem to offer anything different, they offer babies acting as old men in shirts and ripped jeans.
There are a few children shops near me and i just can't resist it. For ds first birthday he wore an adorable miniman outfit that was expensive but he looked beautiful.
What do you all think about designer baby clothes?

My DS is 13mo too and has never looked like an old man in a shirt and ripped jeans!

I cannot see the point of designer clothes, for babies or adults, personally.

I'd rather spend my money on decent food (and fun things to do) - after all, food becomes part of you in a way a designer shirt never will!

I buy some designer stuff for ds and mix it with normal stuff. He has quite a lot of timberland stuff and catmini. I love minman but tend to find it reaaaaaaalllllllyy expensive. Although bought a gorgeous Armani t shirt on ebay for £20 when its usually £70 had tags on etc...love ebay for that stuff..lol

Hunker i agree that there r better things to spend money on but I do prioritise i dont spend what i dont have. I also know that i will make money back [at least half cost] on ebay so its not that bad.

o they do look like old men , they look like 17 yr olds on a night out clubbing. I just prefer my baby to look lik a baby because i think he has all his life to wear shirts and stuff.
Of course i don't put ds in designer all of the time , he has £5 outfits from hennes , some of which look just as nice but designer stuff is different something you don't find with high street clothes.
I love ds timberland tracksuit , so comfy!

DD(3y 1m) has had some in the past - either children's designers or more well known fashion designers.

The first were mainly pretty dresses/outfits that great grandparents bought from little children's boutiques - as birthday/christmas presents. Looked beautiful, worn for special occasions - sold on later.

Others we have bought as we liked - again generally for special occasions coming up, but worn other times too afterwards.

We have a wide mix of clothes from H&M/Asda to Next/Gap to the odd designer/expensive make.

As you say - the times she has had them it has been because we wanted something a bit different for some particualr event or something.

Personally I wouldn't put DS in a tracksuit, but that's just me.

Sorry,just tittering madly to myself Hunker,at the thought of your ds kitted out....designer trainers,underwear showing over the top of his jeand,mega expensive sunglasses...not!!

Good god no,loulabelle!!! That way there'd be even less to spend on me! It's hand me downs and second hand shops in this family!

dd wears asda, tesco, even ethelaustin (if the cothes are nice at that time iykwim) also next,but i do occasionally buy designer clothes such as monsoon, cost £28 for a dress , but too gorgeous to not buy,also ducky beau, dd also had a couple of ecko tracksuits (off ebay), every month i tend to use the child benefit money to buy her clothes or shoes depending what she needs.

And obv DS is hugely uncomfortable every day - I make it my aim to ensure he is as uncomfy as possible - pmsl!

i would never buy clothes just because they are designer. i buy them because i think they are lovely . my first stop shopping is always next or mothercare ,marks and spencers or john lewis if all else fails head to expensive shop! It doesn't have to be a lot of money not everything in these places are expensive expensive but still dearer than other places

I don't see whats wrong with shirts and ripped jeans i think they look smart!

I would not put my son in a tracksuit either but thats just my tate and opinion.

I buy all sorts of clothes mostly next though as i think there clothes wash well and last

Personally, I hate the scruffy look that Next seem to have gone for, I hate a lot of the slogan T-shirts and things, plus anything camouflage (he's not a bloody soldier!) or anything with skull and crossbones on.

Dd has a baby Versace scarf and a Fiorucci (is that how you spell it?) top. Both were hand me downs from nephews gf's sister - thank you! Other than that, I wouldif they were in a charity shop (and even then they'd have to be reasonably priced). DD came home from hospital in a brand new Next jacket that cost me 29p in Help the Aged!

i just personally don't like 'that' look . No he doesn't have the matching trainers . He has just started walking and they r too hard and will ruin his tootsies!

Loulabelle,I'm sure the sight of my ds would horrify you-he only wears babygros and 12th hand cardigans at the moment as I just can't be arsed with anything more complex. (Day and night btw,and he's 10 1/2 mths)
If he feels chilly, I just wrap an old towel around him as no way am I spending good money on a coat that he'll grow out of in 6 months.

People often remark on how lovely my boys look - and when we kitted DS1 out after Christmas to go back to nursery, as he'd outgrown all his old stuff, lots of his friends mum's commented on how nice he looked - and asked where I bought some of his tops from as they really liked them.

I smiled happily (and smuggly - as my boys can wear ANYTHING and look good - unlike their mum LMAO) and told them Matalan

Like HM don't see the point in designer clothes for anyone, you can get just as good 'look a likes' for a fraction of the cost if you shop around.

But of course I do have BOTH boys dressed in their NIKE tracksuit, ARMANI boxer shorts and NIKE trainers whenever we're outside the house

i dont think jeans r uncomfortable...i do buy designer for special occasions like birthdays xmas etc. But will also buy ethel austins jeans with a timberland jumper...esp at 19mths cos i need hard wearing clothes but that im not too arse when he has fallen over for the 70th time in the garden.

Cant remember who said about next but i agree quality has gone down and if u look on ebay u can get designer stuff brand new for cheaper than next.
The timberland jumpers etc ds has were £5.99 on ebay with all tags etc on and they r lovely..so no not soft with designer but i do like the fact ds can wear some designer...suppose in a way im getting it out my system b4 he is old enough to be asking for it..pmsl

How many of you lot wear jeans???

I do - and I've never found them uncomfortable (apart from when I'm trying to squeeze into a pair that are really a size too small). Why should kids find them uncomfortable if adults don't?

tracksuits are perfect for ds around the house, just comfy. Most of the time he is in trousers (white,baby blue,navy) and a t-shirt. I do agree next to wash well. I bought my ds his first pair of jeans last week; didn;t want him to wear them till he could walk. They are just plain stonewash jeans from marks and spencers. They do look nice, but not for everyday. Make him look like he is about 2!
