Sorry, didn't mean I hope you have a dodgy disc, just that they find the cause and can then do something about it.
I'm off to Ikea this morning to buy DS1 a new mattress. I just realised he's been sleeping on the same foam mattress since he first went into a bed from his cot, so about 5 years. It's a little on the thin side now (poor neglected DS). His front tooth fell out last night so he's all gappy. My little boy is growing up!

oggsfrog · 13/10/2009 10:08

Happy mattress hunting Lyra! We had to buy dd a mattress topper because her mattress springs were poking into her.

When is your MRI Berrie? It's not odd to fear that they find nothing! The best result would be that they find something physical that is the cause. Then they can do somthing about it.

Want a weight loss buddy?
I know we weren't very successful last time but I really need to address it. I'm even considering Weight Watchers which is a BIG step for me. I hate all that group thing and it would mean travelling over ten miles each way. Still... if it worked.
I'm also considering monetary rewards... a couple of quid in a jar for each lb I lose.

Yup can we start after my holiday though?

DD is on the cot mattress that Ds first used. I've put corks on broken bed springs in the past! Beware of Ikea matresses. Ds's is very uncomfortable.

Berrie · 13/10/2009 13:22

DD has a cold. I didn't send her to Preschool on Monday. She is fine in herself, playing normally though complaining of a headache now and then. She's not coughing, sneezing or streaming snot. She's not really eating much though. I've got work tomorrow and she'd usually go for a morning but I don't know whether to take her. I am heaviliy influenced by the fact she keeps saying she's too poorly to go to Preschool, she'd rather stay with her Mummy!

LyraSilvertongue · 13/10/2009 13:48

Bought the mattress. A proper sprung one this time, no more foam. I've added DS1's old foam one to DS2's to make it double thickness so they should both be comfier.
I had to get it from Ikea because they've both got extendable Ikea beds so need the extendable mattresses. DS2 is still on the smallest setting and DS1 on the middle setting.
What will you do with DD while you're working if she doesn't go to pre-school? I'd send her if I were you. It's only a couple of hours. A spoon of Calpol should see her through it.

Berrie · 13/10/2009 14:06

I won't work that's all. It's only an hour tomorrow so I can pick her up after my lesson if necessary. I probably will send her. I just need to make her have some breakfast or I will feel bad.

Ds's mattress was the very cheapest one which is probably why it's bad.

MRI appointment to be sent Oggs.

Oh yeah. What do you do with 27 chicken's eggs?

oggsfrog · 13/10/2009 20:37

I don't know. What do you do with 27 chicken's eggs?

I'd suggest ... ... eating them.

oggsfrog · 13/10/2009 20:39

Pfft. Bloody computer.

Ho, Ho, Ho

OP posts:
Berrie · 14/10/2009 07:37

You said a week or two ago you had 27 chickens (or similar amount) I've been wondering ever since!

LyraSilvertongue · 14/10/2009 09:17

Ah, not 27 eggs, but the eggs of 27 chickens. Misplaced apostrophe caused the confusion

Berrie · 14/10/2009 09:26

Berrie huffs back down to check her punctuation....Oh yes you are right - call myself a teacher!

Berrie · 14/10/2009 09:29

DD got out of bed twice last night. We intercepted her on the stairs and on the landing and put her back into bed. Do you have experience of sleepwalking? I was terrified she'd fall doen the stairs. (DH's Uncle was found dead at the bottom of the stairs.)
I took her up to Preschool only for my work to ring and cancel the lesson. Poor DD!

oggsfrog · 14/10/2009 09:47

Only have 23 chickens now. Mr Sodding Fox had 4 of this years chicks.
Of the 23, 15 are this years lot so they are a mix of cockerels and hens and are not laying yet anyway.
1 is the cockerel and one is an old lady chicken who doesn't lay anymore.
Of the remaining 6, a couple are moulting so are not laying.
The ones that are layiing are laying variously in the horses stable, under brashings and in the hay barn, so we don't always find the eggs.
So in summation, we don't have an excess of eggs despite spending a blody fortune on mixed grain

My db used to sleepwalk. I think he almost made it out of the house on a number of occasions.
By far the most frightening was when we were staying at a hotel once. Mum and Dad had gone down to the bar leaving us in the room with a monitor and with regular checks being made by the childcare service (as you did in the 70's) (I think we were about 9 and 10).
Db managed to climb out of the bathroom window and was discovered standing on the windowsill leaning out towards a drainpipe as if to try and climb down it!

He just grew out of the walking but also used to suffer from night terrors which were scary.

Could you use a gate at the top of the stairs if you are worried?

You've probably googled it anyway, but here

OP posts:
Berrie · 14/10/2009 11:15

Thanks Oggs. I hadn't googled it yet...I think I'm hoping it was a one off. Am going to read it now however!
Time for some chicken stew I think!

Berrie · 14/10/2009 11:21

That's really useful. She has been poorly so it could be that but also she has been picky with her food recently so I'll look into a multi vitamin. My brother has Narcolepsy so there are sleep disorders in the family.

What a terrifying story about your brother.

Berrie · 14/10/2009 12:11

Mmmm just remembered my other brother sed to sleepwalk too...I remeber he'd come to the landing by my attic bedroom and wee!

LyraSilvertongue · 14/10/2009 17:43

Hmm. Perhaps a stairgate is the answer. And a high-up bolt on the front door, just in case.

oggsfrog · 14/10/2009 18:48

You could always tie her to the bed .
Hope she sleeps more peacefully tonight.

OP posts:
Berrie · 14/10/2009 19:27

Hope so too. I thought I'd done with bloody stairgates! Good idea about the bolt. We'll see how it goes.
Just been to parents evening. She told us DS sat through singing without opening his mouth. It was all good though which feels a bit...boring? Am I twisted? I am, how stupid.

LyraSilvertongue · 14/10/2009 23:46

All good is, erm good isn't it?
Do you guys think pizza is a nutritious breakfast for DC aged 5 and 7?
