Camomilla · 11/05/2009 11:23

oh, poor dd2. have a nice rest today, all of you!

2nd on the waiting school is not bad I think, fingers crossed

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 11:26

goodness, i would be worried too about breathing probs, especially if there is asthma in relatives...

i have realized today that dd has basically had a cold for about 8 weeks! i cannot remembger if it was the same with ds...boh!i suppose they build some immunity, but still....do wonder if it shows some sort of weakness as there is asthma in our family....

2nd on the list seems good! and this is the double entry school? in our school where there is lots of movement being inner city and all that, i think we had taken 2 children by the new year. i would start phoning the school on a weekly basis from the beg of term....she might move down the list if new kids move into area which is always a possibility...i am getting stressed for you!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/05/2009 11:30

No McC it's my favourite, the one with just one intake. she 14th on the other one which has 3 intakes ! Maybe because that is the one we applied later. WELL THE lea SAID IT IS VERY GOOD AND (sorry) that a lot changes from now till september. letters with new offers will be sent this week. will go to faith school now and check there.

I think they do have colds for a long time actually. mine did. But I do not pay much attention to colds.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 11:40

14th? lol - to be honest a one form entry school is so much sweeter....but the more entries the more potential friends....

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 11:47

Oh poor dd2 Pippi, che spavento!
Quite good news about the school, no? I really hope you'll get the place in your fav school.

Mccloud, that website you linked to... it's divine. Now I'm addicted.

Bucharest, good to see you

Brangelina, did you -like me- spend the whole Sunday evenng/night watching the Scamarcio marathon on Italia1?

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 11:49

www.castlegibson.com/furniture/ I have exactly the same chest (the white one) but not painted. Bought it nr exeter, much cheaper.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 11:57

really?
how much did you pay?
i think as pippi said, they slap a bit of paint on the furniture and sell it at silly prices...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/05/2009 12:14

well some furniture really are quirky and a hard find but other are really just smple pine with a lick of paint like this one which would look good in my house but not sure can justify for a pine thingy. don't you think?

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:15

I think around 150 pounds, but it was a few yrs ago. I love old furniture to mix up with more contemporary one, but have always doubt my abilities to understand whether I was paying the right price or not.
That chest of drawer is lovely.

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:18

It's beautiful though pippi, it'll look good in your study. Well yes, it feels overpriced, but those sorts of 1940 office furniture is very popular, at least here in Italy.
How good are you at diy? I suppose you could get a really scruffy one, sand it, and paint it... if you have the time

I've been meaning to paint a chest of drawers for at least 3 yrs now

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/05/2009 12:21

no not that one the colored one on page 5.

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:24

the blue and yellow one?

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:25

the blue and yellow one at 650 feels a bit like a presa per il c....

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/05/2009 12:26

esattamente!

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:29

That, you could diy with no probs and do a much better job. 650 they are taking the piss.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/05/2009 12:30

I've just made minestrina with formaggino for dd2 and have added a boiled sweet potato which was left over from yesterday. DEEEELICIOUS. McC try it. (sorry I do not address you franca because you are a fine cuoca not a principiante like me. No offence to you McC but I feel you are a bit like me: my food is delicious for english and foreigner - I can tell the italian think 'che miscuglio sciapo e' questo!'

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 12:32

yes, presa per il... had to laugh!
there are some charity shops around here where you find good stuff, well friends find good stuff, when i go i don't find anything, or find stuff that has been sold...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 12:33

sounds delish!

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:36

Lol at where friends find good stuff... . Yes, I have friends who always -apparently- find the most extraordinary bargains boh!

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 12:38

what do you think of the 19th century mirror? by distressed they mean ruined,no? would like it in my bedroom.....but at that price....

i think i am going to trail charity shops more often, today bought myself a green winter coat and a little 19th century framed print for ds; room, i actually thought it was an original print, but dp said it's a copy. , but it was only 3 quid.

dd and i are having pastina with tuna and corn, odd but very nice, and slices of grapefruit.

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:48

I love the industrial bed. What page is the distressed mirror?

Camomilla · 11/05/2009 12:48

McC, DD and I have had a cold since we've come back from italy. I thought it was 2 wks, then actually realised it's a lot more than that! she woke up again last night a few times with this odd old-woman type cough, as if she'd cough out l'anima, turning purple... was thinking of taking her to the gp tomorrow (mondays mean a loooong wait) but not sure if anything can be done really

DP's getting ready to drive up north tomorrow to pick FIL up ....... so will probably be very stressed from fiday when they're back... will have to put nice rug away, and basically follow him with cleaning cloth in hand.... so am planning a london trip next week, and tots groups and maybe swimming.... you'll hear me scream from time to time....

francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2009 12:59

Camo why do you need to clean after your fil?

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 13:03

is your fil not well?

camo, did take dd to gp as she was like yours, the gp said that they were glad i took her in, they want to see a baby who has a cough for more than a week, as the baby might have a bit of pneumonia...in our case she didn't, but gp was clear i had done the right thing...is there a long wait even for a baby? not here, thank goodness...get her checked, sure she is probably allright..

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/05/2009 13:04

camo, we put salt drops in dd's nose and that helped her a lot, also dp steamed her when she was coughing like a 70 year old smoker...
