it made me...

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:07

Obviously there are other reasons. But it's very clear on the 1-1 care that the under-3s should receive.

thought so, i read the research bythat other guy, also said the same, his research made us decide on the 1 to 1 as well...dribbling wreck i was too, all those years ago..

i am trying to remember the name of that guy...from the British School of Psychotherapy, do you know him???? would like to read-reread about babies, as it is the weirdest experience having a baby, even second time round...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:20

sorry about crap sentence construction, dd is pulling laptop (talk about 1 to 1!)

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:21

i love your dh! he sounds wonderfully interesting!

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:21

Do you mean Steve Biddulph?

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:22

He is wonderfully interesting. That is why I tolerate his imperfections!

It's like keeping an expensive, exotic pet.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:31

no, not biddulph, the one i am talking about is an academic and researcher..

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:42

it's JAY Belsky! Hurrah! His work so much influenced my way of bringing up ds and then i go and forget his bloody name.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:42

talking to myself again...back to my furniture websites...

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:44

Ah yes, Belsky. No, don't know him personally, but have heard of him.

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:45

Sorry, McCloud - can't find BLW book, but a quick google seems to suggest that liver is ok for babies.

www.bbk.ac.uk/psyc/staff/academic/jbelsky

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:47

thank you penthe! it must be liver and pregnant ladies....

better give some 1 to 1 to dd now before she destroys my laptop..

how is it going the search for a nanny? are you going through an agency or putting ads in places like The Lady? (not that i have read the Lady...)

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:47

Shexeee!

OP posts:
McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:47

what is your opinion of belsky?

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:48

Am going to post on gumtree and try word of mouth to begin with; then if we're not successful, I'll try an agency.

I'm waiting for a friend to get back from her hols in order to ask whether she'd like a nanny-share...

Good luck with lunch. I think we might have dhal today... Mess, here I come...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 12/05/2009 11:49

i know he is an older john stewart!!!!! hottie!

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 11:52

I like geeky men...

Not familiar enough with his work to comment, really. Isn't he an attachment theorist of sorts?

Sorry but I had to laugh at the Retrouvious site, "Would make interesting framed prints for the strong stomached" ho ho ho, and yes a lovely map of the Belgium textile industry at 100 quid a pop, I-ll take 3 please!

I can just see these people gleefully emptying the basements of old hospitals and schools, they-re probably paid to do it.

Rosa · 12/05/2009 13:07

We have a mercatino staring on monday its usually full of cleared out houses Brange send your dp up !!
Liver I thought in very small doses for little ones as all offal but then times change.
Humid here today.-
Penthe I usually start of saying I am going to buy something expensive for me but then I spend it on the dds . I cannot recall the last time I did do a spend on me for something I did not need just liked the look of!
DH has his new camera and when I googled it +I was at the cost and then he got a long lense to go with it ! What pissed him off even more is that I picked it up and did some superb pics straight away after having a little fiddle - He has now hidden the instructions incase I start really playing with it ....

Camomilla · 12/05/2009 14:27

lol at the spendaccioni! I'd be like that though if I wasn't on ML... actually, I haven't stopped looking and buying the odd nappy and am eyeing another wrap sling.... but I'm only using my paypal with what I'm selling... not far to go for that wrap but 3 months with no income will soon be here!

took DD to gp, nothing to worry about, gave me some piriton to see if that helps her breathing.
oh, and DP was all set to go but changed his mind at the last minute because of the weather (he needs his dad to help with jobs outside so if it rains it's a no no and FIL would go insane if he doesn;t have anything to do)

DP will prob go back to old job soon (his ex-manager saw him and asked him the other day), hopefully not before sept so he can finish all the little jobs around the house, but he'll go back p/time so DD will still have one to one of us all the time (I tell you, DD's already got him around her little finger, even worse than PFB!!)

francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2009 15:07

Have to go in 1 mins, but would like to point out that there are many parts of the world where this entirely anglo saxon theories about 1 to 1 care for the under 3 are not that popular.

Penthesileia · 12/05/2009 15:12

franca!

Brangelina · 12/05/2009 16:05

Agree with Franca. Didn't small children get raised by the whole tribe once upon a time?
