I miss the italian cambio do stagione. Something pointless here. I wonder if you even have the expression here. at prospect of another rainy summer.

would love to make yogurt cake.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/04/2009 13:19

Bucharest · 09/04/2009 13:21

Rosa- I've got one.
1 pot white yoghurt
1 pot sunflower oil
1 pot cacao
1 pot sugar
1 and half pot of flour
lievito dolce stuff
2 eggs

Mix it all together....voila.

Rosa · 09/04/2009 13:34

Forno 180 x 30 / 35 mins ?????

Thank you - will have to dig out a small yoghurt pot from bin ( and wash of course ) as I only have the 500g pots which I think I would need a HUGE cake tin .
I have to do cambio di stagione as I have not enough space in wardrobes and it involves me crawling about under beds - piles of clothes and lots of swearing!

Bucharest · 09/04/2009 13:40

Forno- no idea- mine is kerputt and I have to do everything on the setting the oven decides! That usually means about 4 minutes for biscuits or they are black! 30 mins sounds about right.

My cambio di stagione will involve spending money I think as I feel very fuori moda....

Rosa · 09/04/2009 15:06

Moda ...no idea what that is .....

Rosa · 09/04/2009 19:02

we made it a fab cake to make with dd1 perfect for her she did just aboyut all the pouring in and stirring... Thank you !

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 09/04/2009 19:21

moda? no idea, just gave away 3 big bags of clothes that were tight when i was thin, no way i will be able to wear them now..

damon, you made me post on that bloody playdate thread!!!!! i will probably be banned from mumsnet now for saying that nobody likes other people;s children when they are a pain in the arse, infact not even one's own children.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 09/04/2009 19:22

what is lievito dolce stuff?

Rosa · 09/04/2009 21:06

In the Uk use 1 tea spoon of Bicarb and 3 of baking powder. In Italy its those packets of levito x dolce .....
All my clothes except 2 pairs of jeans and 2 t shirts don't fit me .... BUt I am hoping that I will one day get back into a few things ........... Right off to bed after feeding minirosa ( grande rompe today)

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 09/04/2009 21:08

lol at grande rompe!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/04/2009 22:09

McCloud !!!

Bucharest will make that cake too with my dd1. she LOOOves baking bless.

I cannot get rid of any old clothes that don;t fit me... I live in hope! I found a pair of horse riding trousers pre DH... they fit on ONE leg now!

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 09/04/2009 22:18

horse riding, ronfl! do you mean that 2 legs fit on one?

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 09/04/2009 22:19

i kept some tops that are soooo tiny and risque and used to wear at the peak of my love affair with dp - will give them to dd, but she will oonly be allowed to wear them in hte house, no way she can go clubbing dressed like a whore.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 09/04/2009 22:21

that thread made me steam with indignation!
i will probably be banned to mumsnet wilderness, sob.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 09/04/2009 22:22

wonder where penthe is....probably choosing the curtains for the manor house. off to bed, have finally foudn a book i can concentrate on..

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/04/2009 22:28

what is it? I'm ashamed to say but Zeno is still waiting by my bedside. Hopefully not for long. Unfortunately my friend brings me the magazines of the weekend papers so it's easier to read them.

went to gym this evening - did not do much, watched telly mostly and when about to fall asleep I sat on the bicycle - how pathetic.

I'm not going to comment on you know what McC.

I'm so tired I'm off to bed!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/04/2009 22:43

lievito vanigliato paneangeli McC btw. want me to get it for you from italian shop? You must have it. That is one of the strongest memory I've got of baking with my mum - looking at that bustina with the angels and the recipes etc. My dd started to do the same .

I love my dds to bits!!!!

night

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 09/04/2009 22:50

what's pasta frola in english? want to buy the ready made but don't want to make mistakes. puff pastry?

Brangelina · 09/04/2009 23:17

No, puff pastry is pasta sfoglia. I've no idea what pasta frolla is - it's almost like biscuit base, not shortcrust at all. Did you want to make a crostatina? I think you can adapt a shortcrust recipe adding sugar and a little ground almond. You'd have to make it though, I don't think they sell ready-made pasta frolla in the UK. Or at least I've never seen it.

Rosa, I did have a yogurt cake recipe, although Bucharest's seems much simpler and nicer. Also an easy yogurt ice cream using condensed milk as well although it's a pain because you keep having to take it out of the fridge to whisk it. I got lazy at some point and ended up with a solid block.

Was there a contentious playdate thread? I'm not going to look now, I'll never get to bed otherwise.

Brangelina · 09/04/2009 23:19

For the earthquake I donated money via the croce rossa. I asked about sending stuff but was told they didn't need items as such but money to feed people etc. Boh.

Brangelina · 09/04/2009 23:27

Pippi, try looking for Paté Sucrée, maybe they'll have that ready-made somewhere posh like Waitrose or M&S. That's the nearest thing to pasta frolla that I can remember, they used to sell it fresh in delis in London. Maybe everything's changed now. Probably.
Otherwise you'll have to make it. It's not difficult, just twice the amount of flour to butter (eg. 300g to 150 of butter) plus about a third of sugar (eg. 100g.) 2 yolks and scorza di limone. You can substitute a little of the flour with farina di mandorle, I find it improves the texture but it's not necessary. You have to leave the mixture in the fridge for about half an hour before rolling it out as well.

Off to bed now as still have to work tomorrow. All this Vatican meddling in stuff that is not their business yet they've never made a peep about the lack of religious holidays. Pah! Another reason not to donate the 8 per mille to them.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 10/04/2009 11:50

i also thought it was short crust, boh!

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 10/04/2009 11:52

can you get me some pane degli angeli please? will give you the money when i see you next. have some recipes i inherited from my mum, (ritagliate dalle riviste) - each one with pane dei bloody angelik i assumed it was lievito.
lots of to do today, i bet it will rain though.

Rosa · 10/04/2009 12:55

The cake is nice but its a bit oily might try melted butter next time or less oil - DD loved making it and has asked if we can do it again !
I got conned today by a 3 yr old FGS - we went to get her shoes as she has winter ones . I wanted a pair of gimnastica tipo - leggero and the lady bought out Naturino with butterflies on , pair of Puma ( scontato) Lelly Kelly, and some others . She loved the Naturino but they were like kickers alta over the ankle - I said no I could see a tantrum welling and she tried on the Puma and said Mamma voglio questi e questi.( Lelly Kelly) I said well how about 1 pair - Puma ( just what I wanted)she said yes but adesso mi tengo adosso questi ( lelly Kelly).. SO we have the flashing sunglasses that go with the Lelly Kelly and 2 pairs of shoes ! She is 3 and she is negotiating !
I think I might do a donation to te protezione civile as well they seem to be doing a stirling job!
