Ciao, hello, welcome!

I think we need to correct our rose tinted view of childhood. They are megalomaniacs, they have addictive personalities and are prone to hysterical meltdowns/or euphoria.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 31/03/2009 21:39

oh, yes, early uk hours are the only way to sruvive sahdom.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/03/2009 21:45

DS has just come downstairs for the 3rd time! "can't sleep and I need daddy to rub my leg.."

PENTHEEEEEEEEE!!! that is just gorgeous!! you know, that's around the area we've been looking, though we've looked at cheaper farmhouses, like in waterbeach etc, so will have to have a chat about the whole area when we eventually book a w-end up there for some viewings!

viggo, you might not "lose" weight, but that'd be because muscle is heavier than fat

Rosa, I'd be !!

and hello to brange and gio and congratulations to the sputniks!

feel for your DD pippi, I sucked my thumb til I was 9 and only stopped as I had to wear those contraptions...

I send mine to bed at 8, but 7 has always really scared me. Our bioritmo's always been too Italian. We can't have dinner before 7 o'clock.

francagoestohollywood · 31/03/2009 21:48

bioritmo's why did I write 's?

francagoestohollywood · 31/03/2009 21:49

I like the "rub my leg" excuse

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/03/2009 21:52

last week he was screaming, we ran upstairs and all he said was "my tummy is hurting, here daddy, I meade you some space, you need to rub my tummy"

che furbastro!

I'm off to bed, good night.

Pippi, hope dd is fast asleep now

Sputnik · 31/03/2009 22:00

As long as it's Daddy he wants I wouldn't worry!

ciao

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 31/03/2009 22:54

hope she has gone to sleep, probalby the pm nap upset her system....

ohhh, for a farmhouse i might be tempted to move out of london, or maybe not...

francagoestohollywood · 01/04/2009 10:52

Oh pippi, I hope she had a good night sleep at the end. It is so frustrating for them not being able to fall asleep

But Pippi, I've just come back home full of excitement, as wanting to share this with you (as I know you appreciate ). There is a shop selling old magazines, old cinema posters, old comic books.... it has all the copies of Candy Candy magazine . It's expensive though, 15 euros per issue . I saw the one where terence plays romeo and juliet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God, I love candy candy

As for our meeting, would 2.30/3ish be a good time for you? Dh is determined to take us to the NHM, and is as cocciuto as a mulo.

Brangelina · 01/04/2009 10:57

Poor Pippi DD. we're having similar problmes with bedtime, albeit without the added thumbsucking stress. It now seems to take us hours to get DD to bed, she just faffs the whole time instead of putting her pyjamas on or whatever she's supposed to be doing, then when she is finally in bed she calls me about 50 times. Aaargh! She used to be so good at going to sleep. I now let her by herself with the little light on just so I can get away.

Lol at the early bedtime in SAHMdom. My sister (SAHM) puts hers to bed at 6.30 and thinks I'm a loon for putting mine to bed at 8.30. That's just because I'm disorganised though, I can't get it together to have dinner ready before 7/7.30. It was easier when she was smaller and had separate meals. Oh well, we'll get there in the end.

Has anyone read La Solitudine dei numeri primi? I'm not sure whether to buy it or not, it just screams mattone at me.

Brangelina · 01/04/2009 10:58

read by herself.

Why oh why don't I preview?

francagoestohollywood · 01/04/2009 11:41

6.30? blimey, your dd is a uber sahm . What time do they wake up? I think it's horses for courses, I dread waking up too early, so I tried to figure out a bed time that guaranteed the dc a sufficient amount of sleep and not too early wake ups for us . It took me ages though with ds.

I can lend you the solitudine dei numeri primi if you want, I think it's an ok book, nothing incredibile, really.

francagoestohollywood · 01/04/2009 11:42

your dd? sister

Brangelina · 01/04/2009 11:57

Lol! Her dcs wake up at dawn, but apparently it doesn't make a difference what time they go to bed. They seem to have inherited the farmer-who-gets-up-with-the-cockcrows gene, fortunately sadly lacking iin our family.

Brangelina · 01/04/2009 11:59

That would be great, I'm not yearning to read it, just feel I ought to because everyone raves about it. I hope it's not like that Tamaro book!

Got to dash, have lunch appointment. a dopo!

francagoestohollywood · 01/04/2009 12:12

No, much better than the Tamaro.

gio71 · 01/04/2009 12:27

6.30 bedtime!!!! How??? If I can get ds in bed by 9.30 I feel like I have achieved something! He does sleep til 8 though so suits me as we tend to get up at that time. We never eat before 8 either. I have never really got to grips with strict routine, am crap, disorganised mother.
Speaking of disorganised the bloody lists still arent out re iscrizione for scuola materna......I just want to know! End of March we were told, went to school today and was told "boh! dopo pasqua forse." All said with la solita gentilezza!

beforesunrise · 01/04/2009 12:35

solitudine dei numeri primi is not such a mattone, but a gun does the job much better- it is absolutely the msot depressing book ever, and it's all a bit, well, depressing for its own sake iyswim?

have you read "spingendo la notte piu' in la"? non-fiction, it's by Calabresi's son, beautiful book, really moving. the mother shines through, she's my hero now.

meet-up- i can get places by 3.30/4 assuming dds play ball with their naps. so if you think you will still be there (where? have we all agreed on coram fields? btw you know there is great shopping nearby at the brunswick centre:-)) by then, can i plan on join you?

ok i am meant to be at work, so better go...

francagoestohollywood · 01/04/2009 12:36

Oh yes, they tend to be late with those lists. Do you know that I haven't received yet the bollettini to pay for ds's mensa scolastica? It's april !

Nah, you are not crap, disorganized mother. And people eat at a later time in central Italy, anyway.

Have to go to take dd to swimming lessons.

francagoestohollywood · 01/04/2009 12:38

Totally agree with the definition "depressing for its own sake" BS. Spot on.

BS, fine by me. I'll email you my english mobile number, btw, for last minute info.

have to gooooooooooooooooo

gio71 · 01/04/2009 12:44
