Ciao, hello, welcome!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 08:52

Sounds good to me. BS, has pippi got your email?

My connection is still playing up. I don't understand. Really irritating.

Have just started reading Stieg Larsson (after having read another fantastic novel by Nemirovsky) and I'm very

Gio, how's ds and his green poos? Hope is fine now

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/03/2009 09:50

which nemirovsy franca. I just bought one when in italy, and a simenon, and I'm deperate to start them both but still must get to the end of zeno . there's nothing for me of my day .

franca pass my email addr to bs anytime pls.

anything's good for me. I love coram fields so that's a great choice. but up to franca and her dc. if it's easier for you franca we can meet after lunch so you've got time to go to nat hist beforehand coram fields's on the picadilly line at russel sq so easy from south ken.(sorry if I'm trying to plan your day I just don't want your dc to be disappointed and think that coming to london just means meeting up with a couple of old witches ).

anyway stressed today as million things to do all the time and no time for me(so got cross with dd1, who was tired so I send her back to bed and no nursery).

sunflower sorry for being an idiot but when you say soft cheese do you mean phildelphia type?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/03/2009 09:52

franca your recipe was very good. what pastry is that though. sorry I seem to need an idiot guide to things today.

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 10:35

Ups sorry, no, I meant that I don't have BS's email, I thought you might have.
BS, have you got an email address you are ok posting on here?
Coram fields sounds good to me, perhaps we can meet right after lunch? Coffee for us and some running around for the kids?
Pippi, the Nemirovsky I just read is I doni della vita. Which Simenon have you bought? I love love love his novels. I heartily recommend Il testamento Donadieu. A perfect novel. (I also love the Maigret gialli btw)

The pasta you can buy nel reparto del freddo at sainsbo. I think short crust pastry?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/03/2009 10:39

yes I doni della vita here too.

simenon is le campane do bicetre'.

Oh when when when can I start and finish a book in the same week?

after lunch is perfect for us. I'll be praying for a sunny day.

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 10:41

Oh dd is home today as well, full of snot. She must be feeling miserable, as she usually wouldn't miss nursery school at any cost. She is now "reading" Hansel e Gretel.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/03/2009 10:42

Aren't you well written Franca that always always use the capital when you should. I never do. I cannot believe that I having children made me a slattern even on the thing I was more precious about, writing. If before I'd be so precious about spelling and grammar now I'm happy if I manage to get my point across and have a chat.

How sad... (pippi is having a feel-sorry-for-myself-for-no-reason-whatsoever-except-pms kinda day )

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 10:43

Until your dd2 is old enough (when you feel it's right, I mean) for a bit of nursery

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/03/2009 10:44

my dd1 wouldn;t miss nursery for anything either and when told her she would not go said sobbing 'mamma se io non vado a nursery tutti i bimbi piangono'.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/03/2009 10:46

Oh I feel is right already. But cannot justify it financially to send her regularly if I am at home with no money coming in just so that I can read a book. I mean I could if I had quite a lot of spare cash. If I get to some money Dd2 will be at childminder for 4 hours every morning from tomorrow!!

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 10:49

Nah, I'm not at all well written. Fact is that one of my best friend once (more than once actually) told me off for sending him emails without capital letters where they should have been. He is a snob pita !

Come here pippi, no worries. You can rant and feel sorry for yourself as much as you like. I feel crappola when pmsing.
You'll soon have more time for yourself, I promise. Tis hard with little ones... the lack of personal freedom is - at times - very hard to cope with (at least it was for me)

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 11:02

Dd started 2 mornings a week when she was around 10 months.
But we were lucky we could afford that. Plus we've always reckoned it was important for our family life to have some sort of external support. A less stressed wife, a less colpevolizzato husband

beforesunrise · 27/03/2009 11:15

pippi will cat you my email address

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 27/03/2009 11:34

yes that is certainly true and def rings a bell [see pippi nummerous rants about dh].

must go

gio71 · 27/03/2009 11:59

green poo better now franca thanks for asking. I realied what it was the other day. As he wouldnt eat the only thing he wanted was succo di pere. And so his poo was green . When he stopped having pear juice he was fine poo wise! Is still not well though. No febbre but has had a bit of a rash on his chest and a very blotchy/rashy face plus is knackered cos not sleeping well. He has had a real problem with wind and has been in real pain until manages to fart bless him. Took to paed yesterday who said influenza and prescibed a diet for him all of foods ds wont touch! Anyway he woke up this morning sobbing for milk and I though sod it, the child is losing weight, he's weak, he doesnt have a dodgy tummy anymore-he can have his bloody milk instead of the camomile he despises! And then he slept all morning, woke up and I found him eating raw tortelloni from the fridge!!And sobbed when I grabbed it off him. So I defied the paed once again and made him tortelloni. What a weak mother

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 12:07

gio. I'm impressed by your ds's appetite btw . And yes, I remember that dd once had temp/cold etc and then a bit of rash on her stomach. I took her to gp and she said it was a virus.
It is very difficult with the milk, as often it's the only thing they want when unwell, but it is also the first thing to avoid in case of bad tummy or too much snot!

Pippi, when ds was around 9 months, dh offered to look after him one morning a week. He soon decided that spending money on nursery was a good investment. Men.

Rosa · 27/03/2009 13:07

LOL at the succo di pera Gio - but glad he is on the mend though .
DD1 decided to throw up this morning. She woke at 5 and did a tiny bit and insisted I took her into the bath room and put a cold flannel on her forehead as she had seen this at nursery !! She got back into bed with dh and seemed fine. He gave her milk at round 7 ish despite me saying at 5am give her water with a drop of milk in for colour and yes she threw it all up. I take dd and tell dh hot water and sapone over the divano and rug. I get dd sorted out changed and washed and cuddled and go into soggiorno and dh said all done - he had used carta and jif spray ( the anti grasso one) SO I had to get the bucket and brush out and scrub. FGS! Sent him out with minrosa and dd and I had a shower then she found some of those magic towels so she was happily inflating them in the shower making a huge mess and dh calls saying MIL is coming SH**T. Got dd dry and dressed and MIL came and put the brodo on and insisted on taking dd temp and checking her hair was dry. I managed to hide the salt in time before she emptied the container in.
Anyway dd ate some riso in brodo but there were 4 away from school today so something going round I guess. She seems ok inherself but will be avoiding yoghut and milk for a bit ..It stinks in vomit !!
Well done on muffins sounds yummy like the sound of cheese in icing as well .now I could do some with dd this pm ...Maybe not no eggs !

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 13:19

Oh dear rosa, poor dd . And poor you, having to clean the vomit ... and being visited by MIL . I take it that she's recovered well from her broken femore?

And lol, dd had minestrina too today

Rosa · 27/03/2009 13:23

SHe has recovered ok doc says she can live life as normal but I think she is a bit scared of doing too much or falling again. I don't blame her as it was a long recovery.
I have my cleaner coming in this pm so between us we can scrub the place again as I can still smell it!
How is your shoulder ?
DD will be having minestrina but with stelline sta sera

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 13:28

. Dd had stelline in hers at lunchtime as well (with bits of chicken!)

Shoulder/elbow a bit better today, thanks

beforesunrise · 27/03/2009 13:40

hi everyobe. need your help with italian internet shopping. my grandmother is turning 90 and i want to give her a dvd player so she can watch Doris Day, Cary Grant and Dallas repeats

do you know a good website for electronic stuff?

thanks!!!

beforesunrise · 27/03/2009 13:42

sorry earlier message a bit 'brusco' but trying to do many things at once (well, grocery shopping online, mainly)...

as usual, very impressed with everyone's literary taste AND practice... i must confess that i have been completely gripped by the Twilight series much to DH's disgust and amusement, the books are truly rubbish but sooooo addictive, anyone else has any secret literary sins they want to fess up to?

francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2009 13:49

Oh. SIL was telling me of her addiction to Twilight. Her excuse is to get "closer" to her pupils (she's a high school teacher)... ... and she was also a fan of the O.C. !

Haven't read it myself, but yes, I have far too many guilty secrets... Virginia Andrews (in my teens, I must say), Minette Walters, Dean Koontz (spelling?), the shopaholic saga, Kay Scarpetta etc etc etc. And as a teenager I also enjoyed the odd Harmony...

I don't buy from Italian websites, but try Euronics or Darty.

Have to go to work, ciao!

Rosa · 27/03/2009 13:52

bs not sure if Amazon post Electronics overseas but we have bought a few things from them in the UK.
Or try the ebay it stores as you might find what you want there.

beforesunrise · 27/03/2009 13:56

i have absolutely no excuse for being addicted to Twilight, other than when i was 18 i was reading "La cognizione del dolore" and similar, so i must have exhausted all my serious reading potential and am now regressing to teenage tastes and intellect....
