Ciao, hello, welcome!

No idea either . Can you tell I'm not a gym kind of person? Maybe I should stick to pilates...

Brangelina · 25/03/2009 15:03

Oh I know, where you have to stand straight with your feet apart and your arms at 90°, with the manubrio a forma di Y. Is that it? You've probably just pulled a tricep. Try putting your arm above next to your head, bend it at the elbow and with the other hand push back gently and hold for 30 seconds. release and repeat. Also, arm across your throat, other hand at the elbow pushing it under your chin. Push and hold, first with arm straight then with arm bent at the elbow.

Don't force yourself but if you do these slowly you'l help re-lengthen the muscle and heal the tear.

Penthesileia · 25/03/2009 15:05

I like Pilates a lot. I'm hoping to take it up again when I can figure out how to get time away from my baby!

francagoestohollywood · 25/03/2009 15:05

Yes, it is!!!! Thanks Brange, will def try that out.

Have to go and collect d from school.

ciao!

Penthesileia · 25/03/2009 15:06

Ciao!

francagoestohollywood · 25/03/2009 15:09

You'll soon have Penthe. I think it is very difficult to find time for yourself in the first 12 months of motherhood, tbh. I sound pretty casual, but I felt ok leaving them just with the grandparents/aunties (who weren't around that much when we were in the UK). Nursery was a life saver for our family, tbh.
Have you started looking for a nanny yet?
Have to go, later!

Brangelina · 25/03/2009 15:10

Penthe, you can use your baby as a counterweight for lots of exercises, I saw it in a book once! Alas I never practised it so have no first hand experience. I'll see if I can find something on the net.

Penthesileia · 25/03/2009 15:16

Yes, we're looking, and have also applied to a lovely local nursery... We shall see...

I've heard about that, Brange! There's probably a book or DVD about it. DD is 10kg though, so she'd be a pretty hefty counterweight!

Rosa · 25/03/2009 15:17

Brange while you are looking can you find me any links to that Piscometria thing ???
As Tom she iwll be doing it again and if she has another outburts I would like to be prepared mentally at least to understand a bit more what they are doing !

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/03/2009 15:17

lol at unfit! i'm sure I wouldn't be able to move a thing if I'd done that franca!! but with dp now at home, i'll try and go to pilates after easter...

oh, those vacuum bags, the argos ones i had always inflated, but the one I used at my mum's was still the same 2 years and a plane journey later!

dd's smelly poo needs my attention before I pass out

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/03/2009 15:30

I've never had big muscly arms, but carrying DS all the time they got quite toned. I do "use" DD too now, so no bingo wings yet !

DP and DS back, kettle and tea pot time!

Brangelina · 25/03/2009 15:45

Here's info re using your baby for exercise Penthe, you lightweight, 10kg is nothing.

Rosa, there wasn't very much info in Italian, but I did find this in English (well, American). Got to dash and pick up DD, will look for more later on.

Ciao!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/03/2009 16:55

franca sorry but LOL at dreaming of JA arms for the summer.
I on the other hand dream of flat stomach and try to achieve that by MNing and eatinf lemon drizzle.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/03/2009 17:21

ah foolproof delicious tiramisu recipe anyone? no liqueur.

francagoestohollywood · 25/03/2009 17:41

Damon, my mum makes the most delicious tiramisu, I'll ask for recipe.

psicomotricita'

Pippi , for the summer I was thinking Jennifer Aniston arms, Giselle Bundchen (sp?) legs and kate moss fashion sense.

Have to dash. Have just got back from the giardinetti with ds and me and dh are going to prendere un aperitivo with friends !!!

francagoestohollywood · 25/03/2009 17:43

tiramisu:
imbevi savoiardi nel caffe'.
Mix 3 egg yolks with sugar (3 cucchiaioni)
beat egg white a neve consistente
3 etti mascarpone
mix
e poi fai gli strati
alla fine spolverata di cacao amaro
ciao

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/03/2009 17:50

for tiramisu', I use saiwa/petit type biscuits (I find lady's fingers too sugary) and use half mascarpone/half ricotta, so it's a lot lighter - always a success, especially in summer

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/03/2009 19:22

thank you dear friends.

franca my recipe is exactly the same as your mum. it is good. sometimes I've done it with pavesini instead of savioardi, also very good.

must say though that the idea of half ricotta sounds deelicious and worth of a gisele six pack . might try this one on sunday for friends. sunflower on your head be it !

beforesunrise · 25/03/2009 19:42

hello everyone! i have had a veeeery quick read and i am relieved that Pippi's dd doesn;t have morbillo- must say i was quite amazed at your nonchalance! also what exactly is lemon drizzle? sounds like something i should make!

need your collective advice. last night dh and i had a (rare) moment of intense intimacy, whcih i unexpectedly enjoyed rather loudly i suppose well anyway, we were sure dds were asleep, but then dh walked by dd1's room and he saw her with her eyes wide open... in a tiny voice she said "what were you doing papa?" to which the genius replied that we were singing a song (I mean, seriously, men!) she then requested i go to her and with her little face all serious asked me if i was hurt i assured her all was good and mummy and daddy love each other very much blah blah...

but- now i worry i have traumatised her forever, plus i wasn't ready for the sex talk at age 3!!! what would you have done??!!!

onto serious matters- there was talk of a meetup over easter... any developments there???

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/03/2009 20:19

BS first of all ROFL !

Did she see you or just heard? Col senno di poi I would have said we were playing a game or 'making theatre' etc. Maybe you can still swing it that way. I would not do any sex talk, personally don't think she'll get it and so there's no point.

with my dd is best to talk a lot about things and get them chewed up and digested.
has she mentioned it again today?

meet up on the 6th. not sure where yet. francaaaaa come back from that aperitif! is by the pirate boeat at hyde park any good for ya?

Sputnik · 25/03/2009 20:30

No advice really BS, but agree with Pippi that 3 is a bit young for the sex talk.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/03/2009 20:31

BS, haven't laughed so much in ages!! seriously, though, at 3 I don't think she needs the talk, if she asks again I'd just say you were playing a game.

Pippi, go for it! here I always make 500g ricotta, 500gmascarpone, 10 eggs (basically same as franca a part from the ricotta) so there's always a big one for dinner and a spare one in freezer for "just in case" (I fancy s.thing/I'm feeling down/etc)

I think the meet up is on mon 6th

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/03/2009 20:32

oops, took me so long to write .. x post

OP posts:
beforesunrise · 25/03/2009 20:37

6 could work for me if you want me there of course, depending on location a bit...

yes she hasnt mentioned anything about our song anymore... i just hope she didn't tell her nursery teacher or something!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/03/2009 20:48

BS I'm sure that if she did, you wouldn't be the first!! actually, does anyone remember that (OMG complete blank here!!) that program on sunday afternoon where kids used to sing? (talking about 20 years ago!!) what's her name, that blonde high-pitched voiced woman.... s.thing "dei piccoli"? where she asks a little girl what she does with her boyfriend (the girl was 5-6) and she replies "what mum does with uncle on the sofa"! what was that program!?!? now I won't be able to sleep til I remember!!
