Hi everyone

Happy New Year! Fingers crossed for a busy 2009! I received a call from AK between Xmas and New Year and thought surely its not for a job.. and it wasnt! Just wanted to ensure we had updated our photos as Jan is apparently a busy time for babies - lets hope so!

lyndall · 05/01/2009 15:07

Happy New Year everyone!

JAZZ4494 · 05/01/2009 15:08

HI All

Well Im new to this and not a mum but a dad! Hope this is allowed on mumsnet!!!

My wife and I have a little boy of 2 and a baby on the way so all fun!

Our little boy won a local cuteist baby competition run by our local radio station recently and I thought of maybe contacting some agencies to see if we can get him into modelling (a completely different thing to local competitions I know!)

Anyway I've read a few posts and could really do with some help on what I should be looking out for who I should approach (we live in oxford so london is an hour from us) and what all the abbreviations you all type mean!!!

Any help/advice would be very welcome

Sequin1 · 06/01/2009 19:21

Hellfireanddamnation... do you still visit here? Need to pic your brains on the photo updates we need to do. Cheers!

pureeandpearls · 07/01/2009 20:01

HI all- glad you haven't all gone to the netmums thread. I couldn't get on with it at all.

Netmums- I'd direct you to one of the oldeer threads as they have all the abbreviations and model agency recommendations...I'm still really new to this. Good luck though.

lillylover · 08/01/2009 15:35

Hi there I've just sat ploughing through all the old modelling threads and am soooo glad I've researched this. I'm now avoiding models direct as they sound like a complete scam but I'd love to hear from anyone who has ever had any luck with baby modelling outside of London.

Is there really any demand elsewhere e.g for Dorset/Devon. I get the impression that nearly all baby modelling is in London only so perhaps I shouldn't bother registering with any agencies?

Any thoughts appreciated...x

Onthebeach · 08/01/2009 20:43

Hi, i prefer this site to netmums too, hope it keeps busy. Ds has a casting for john lewis nursery next week, any one else going?

Sequin1 · 09/01/2009 07:48

Onthebeach - thats great news, which agency are you with? Do you know what the casting is for?

Lilylover - most of the agencies are London based, I am still new to this but from what I can gather most of the castings/shoots are in London. I think Bizzykidz take on people nationwide so it might be worth giving them a call to see what the demand is. Alternatively you could look into a more local agency perhaps in the south west. There is a website alba model information which lists reputable agencies. hth x

HellFireandDamnation · 11/01/2009 14:09

Hi all belated Happy New year. Glad so many are still using this thread. Other site is good but it moves so quickly you lose track of who is doing what where here you can see the successes much better and it stays on track!! Don't be put off by the other one though it's very friendly and use it as a chat forum that talks about more than modellling!

Sequin 1 - hello! I got a cal same time to say that my details were incorrect! I had him down as 3 meteres high! Slight typo. Busy for babies huh? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm not herad anything. You?

Nezza - do look on the netmums thread - on a page which someone will tell you is a list of all the agencies that we are all with (I think just about everyone here too) with costs etc and check out the Alba website.

the southwest - no idea. Someone asked that a while back on the other thread and I think one name came up?

Anyone doing facebook? Finally got round to doing it!

lizzymouse69 · 11/01/2009 15:46

Hi

Just wondered if anyone has had any jobs with KK?

Thanks Lizzymouse

Sequin1 · 11/01/2009 19:33

Evening all!

Lizzymouse - we applied to KK as well, they are quite new but looking at there client list have got in with some of the big names. I am still quite new to this so perhaps some of the more experienced mums might be able to say if they have seen KK at castings.

HFD - I updated my DS's stats and it didnt record as they kept telling me I hadnt done it! When I spoke to the office they said they wanted all babies updated for 5th Jan as Jan is busy for babies, not heard anything tho! I also go back to work in a couple of weeks so knowing my luck if I do hear something it will be a day when I am working! I am on facebook, I love it, perhaps PM me on the other forum and I can add you...

Anyone else have any castings for next week or waiting to hear on castings from last week?

pureeandpearls · 11/01/2009 20:21

We had our first job last week, though in typical fashion babypearls came down with the lurgy during the day and gradually got more and more cranky until we all gave up. They got some good shots to start, I think but I felt quite bad. But I guess that's what it's like working with babies!! Apart from that, nothing, so January's obviously not so busy!!

HellFireandDamnation · 11/01/2009 20:24

Sequin 1 don't know who you are over there - but I have posted re facebook on there so pm me your details!!

lizzymouse69 · 11/01/2009 20:29

Hi

Thanks Sequin! Have a consultation with them on Wed and just wanted to make sure we are doing the right thing. They seem really nice.

Sequin1 · 11/01/2009 20:39

HFD - I am Sally O!

Sequin1 · 11/01/2009 20:40

Lizzymouse - good luck for your consultation. When I spoke to them they seemed lovely.

lizzymouse69 · 11/01/2009 21:32

Thanks Sequin

Nezza · 12/01/2009 07:04

Hi All

Thanks for your initial help, I'm slowly remembering all the abreviations etc!

One modelling agency which doesnt seem to get much of a mention is Childsplay anyone have any feedback about these? Its a company I mailed some pictures to who have recently come back asking for us to take our ds for some test shots.

Id like to get a bit of impartial advice on these before agreeing to anything.

Thanks again

Totallyfloaty35 · 12/01/2009 11:45

Childsplay been around for years, but i never see them at any jobs or consultations i have been to.Have seen TS,KL,AK,BK,U/A,B&B,MOT,ES,RASCALS and SW.
cHILDSPLAY HAVE HUGE FEES,WOULD TRY A FEW OTHER AGENTS FIRST IF I WERE YOU.

liahgen · 12/01/2009 13:08

Hiya,

Persoannly wouldn't bother with Childsplay. They seem to take on everyone that applies. Have absolutely loads of kids on their books, and you never see them at castings, jobs. Well, i never have and we've been doing this 13 yrs.

Nezza · 12/01/2009 15:16

Thanks for your thoughts I have applied to BK and BS and will try AK and KL
I missed the window to apply for UA so will have to wait for that
Anyone know about Rascals??

liahgen · 12/01/2009 15:24

they're well established but not as busy as some at the moment it seems. My friends teen dd is with them and hasn't had a call for anything in 4-5 mths.
