Morning everyone
Just received a copy of DS1's Disney commercials he did, is really funny seeing him on tv and having words to say too! lol

DS1 has a tv casting on Wednesday, anyone else got anything coming up? We have officially had a whole week off from a casting now and I have really enjoyed it!!

Hello everyone - looks like everyone is busy. Just to let you know babyshak and Scallywags have come back and offer a place for my son. Just wanted to know what the photo shoot at scallywags are like? and is it worth registering with them - they charge £175.00 for thier web fees!!!

MelodyDaisy · 25/11/2008 14:28

IMPO I would probably go with SW, have you heard back from any others with lower fees?

Well that will be a no then! Didn't want his milk as expected and wouldn't stop smiling and they didn't want them smiling! Change from the last two professional photographers! Typical. Also, they wanted us standing with baby feeding him. How stupid! Who feeds a baby standing up?! So they wouldn't be getting "real" pics from anyone. Oh well, he didn't hate it and loved seeing otehr kids.

Mind you sat in awe for a few seconds. The John Lewis baby was there!!

On the beach - what agency are you with? Babies every five minutes all day long and seemed all ages, colours sizes and both boys and girls. AK (us) there and Babyshack.

Totallyfloaty35 · 25/11/2008 15:12

gdluck with all your castings everyone.
Pilchard lots of people waiting to hear from u/a, you are not alone

Sequin1 · 25/11/2008 15:16

Hi HFD, well done on your first casting, and by the sounds of it you didnt get lost! So were there was lots of babies there, were they all ages etc?

At least you have got your first one under your belt and by the sounds of it your LO enjoyed it and hey you never know!

christabel · 25/11/2008 16:36

Still not heard when UAN / UA site up and running. Was told it would be probably last Friday. Anyone heard anything???

Sequin1 · 25/11/2008 17:02

Hi there

LO has been asked to go for a casting with Daniel Pangbourne, he is a childrens photographer and it is for his portfolio. Apparently he has worked with a lot of the big brands, is the name familiar to anyone?

liahgen · 25/11/2008 17:11

yeah daniel is huge in baby modelling. Does lote for mother and baby and such like. He did the early learning catalogue this year.

We've done stuff for photographers portfoloios, sometimes they'll give you a couple of the pics so thats always nice.

HFD, wouldn't say never, sometimes the ones you think you think you'll never hear from again, are the ones you get.

Sequin1 · 25/11/2008 17:21

Thanks, ooh quite exciting then as this is our first casting! They said that we would get copies of photos before xmas so will make great pressies eh!

dreadlocks · 25/11/2008 17:37

haveabreak- Sw photoshoots are good fun- the photographer is great with the children.takes about half an hour. We have been with them 3 years and been very happy.
My ds is the one mentioned on the breaking news section of their website ,second one down (J) so as you can see they have come up trumps for us.
Pm me if you want more details.
HFandd glad you found the casting OK- fingers crossed.
H

HellFireandDamnation · 25/11/2008 19:24

small miracle actually didn't get lost. Another small miracle I didn't need to use the pushchair as a weapon. I've known Oxford street much busier, seemed quiet to me and I've not been for years. That said I wouldn't want to be doing rush hour or the 2hrs either side.

Sequin1 - that sounds great! Lucky you fab presents that would normally have cost a lot too!!

This is probably another stupid question - but why would a photographer need to pay for his photos? Why wouldn't he just use his jobs?

Thanks for the positivity ladies and I know this was our first go but it was definitely a no! I would be stunned if it was a yes and panicking 'cos he wouldn't take a bottle anyway!

One of the agencies I applied to, Bubblegum told me we were succesful toda! I applied three months ago! Anyone ever heard of them? Not that I'm going with them now obvioulsy but how stupid, who waits that long? I took nearly a month to decide I think! It's a one off admin charge of £25 so one of the cheapest. Never heard from Scallywags.

Sequin1 · 25/11/2008 19:29

Yeah HFD I did wonder but looking forward to the experience. Funny you say about bubblegum as I too applied to them about 3 months ago and got an email today as well saying they were posting out registration forms.

So with your casting did you have to wait long, did they have babies all waiting in like a reception area then you get called in? Did you have to ring AK to say how you got on?

Onthebeach · 25/11/2008 20:23

HFD, sounds like it went well, at least he was smiling not screaming. My ds wasn't too interested in drinking the milk, he just wanted to play with the bottle at the time, but he did do a really cute little smile for the camera, however I am not expecting to hear back either. At least we won't be kept in suspense as he person who gets it will be notifyed by thurs.
I found it difficult to feed ds standing too, he is such a heavy lump!, I don't think it looked very natural!
Babies from es, nca, and ts when we were there, they were on number thirty something at about 2.30-3ish. Quite a small casting for a commercial I thought.

liahgen · 25/11/2008 20:44

Bubblegum are a very highly respected agency that are about 10 yrs old now. They used to be run by Heather and Emma, (heather used to work for Norrie Carr) but tragically Heather passed away at 41 to breast cancer a couple of years ago. Her partner Ian now owns it.

They wre very slow for a long time but Ian has got it back to where Heather would be proud of him. She was very well respected in the business and clients are VERY loyAL TO HER, THEY GET ALOT OF FILM AND TV WORK (sod it caps)photographic, and her kids have been know to travel the world doing jobs. (my best mates dd was one of them and more than one occasion.)

I was very good friends with Heather aND MY DC'S WERE WITH HER UNTIL DD1 AND BEST MATE STARTDE GETTING COMPETITIVE AND UPSET OVER MISSED JOBS SO WE MOVED.

I would reccomend them highly.

HellFireandDamnation · 25/11/2008 21:31

In and out very quikly they were very efficient.

Liaghen - sorry, I remember you saying now, must have asked at the time of applying to places. Oh well with AK now.

Onthebeach - wow - that's small? Looks like a lot of people were saying baby wouldn't take the bottle. Maybe they'll just take whoever took the bottle, then s/he won't take it at the shoot! Ridiculous to take the shots standing up as there's no way you would be doing that in the advert surely?

Two model mums were there so don't know why they asked if we would be interested, they didn't ask and I certainly didn't offer. The models were lovely!

Onthebeach · 25/11/2008 22:07

HFD, small for a commercial I think, I think normally they cast loads for tv.
When we went in they took a few pics of ds then one of him with me in, which probably ruined his chances completely! lol.
Then they took a few with me giving (or more like trying to give him) the bottle.
I really can't see them using me, if I had a 'model mum' look i would be one!

HellFireandDamnation · 25/11/2008 22:13

they didn't take any of him on his own. Surprised I didn't break the camera!
What agency are you with? Have you done lots?

Onthebeach · 25/11/2008 22:25

He is with ts, he has had a few bits.
When I say on his own, i do mean whilst I was holding him, but just of his face.

HellFireandDamnation · 25/11/2008 22:31

oh that was observant of you! I didn't realy look at the camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MelodyDaisy · 25/11/2008 22:36

Good luck to both of you, do you know how many babies they are looking for? Just one or a group?

scampadoodle · 26/11/2008 13:42

Hi everyone. I'm very new to the child modelling lark. DS2 is with Bruce & Brown & I just sent the bumf back on Monday & they rang today with a casting! I had to turn them down though (I know, I know!) as I really wasn't expecting it so soon & I've got a friend of DS1'S coming over, DS2 is going to a friend's house & anyway his hair is a mess...

What I want to ask is, does anyone have any advice as to how to cope with last-minute castings? What should I have at the ready? Can I never schedule a playdate again?! And is it really frowned upon to take a sibling to a casting? (not for consideration of course)

TIA!

julie4travel · 27/11/2008 08:02

Sequin1 - daniel is a really good photographer, truly scrumptious use him for their model book shoots, my dd loves him and always asks if daniel is her photographer. she did a magazine shoot with him, he did a elc casting she went to to.

on the beach are you in the new group?

scampadoodle - its fine to take a sibling to a casting, just not the job. i always have stuff on the ready to go last minute such as cartons juice for train etc and ironed clothes ready to grab to change kiddie in to
well done on getting took on with bb

HFD - my friend is with bubblegum and hasnt had much work from them the past couple years. saying that she used to get lots when the original owner was alive

Sequin1 · 27/11/2008 08:55

Thanks Julie4travel, its good to know, we are about to set off soon , quite exciting being our first casting and all that!!

scampadoodle · 27/11/2008 09:18

Thanks Julie - great advice.

Onthebeach · 27/11/2008 10:16

Hi Julie, I am in new group, finding it bit hard to get used to though.

Sequin1, I have taken siblings to castings before, one resulted in the other sibling getting a job out of it which was a bonus. Good luck for casting, im sure your lo will do really well with bb. I have also had to take my youngest (8 months) to all my other ds's jobs with me as I have been breastfeeding up until a couple of weeks ago, no seemed to mind at all, I don't bring my older ds though as he would prob get bored waiting around.
