Morning all
September's thread was very long so thought best to start a new thread as Brooke77 suggested too!

Am off to London again tomorrow for DS1 has a tv show casting, anyone have anything coming up?

Any of you had contract's through from UAN yet?

jojosmaman · 06/10/2008 15:48

Hi! I still havent got my contract nor an email, I'll give Sarah a ring at the end of the week if I don't get anything!

Casting was ok today, short and sweet thankfully so was able to go on my lunchbreak. DS was great (apart from the bruise on his forehead from falling over this weekend, typical!) but I noticed when we arrived that he was by far the eldest (18mths) and then noticed on his photo card thing that they had his birthday year as 08 instead of 07 and so had him down as 8 months old!! I rang Sarah when I got back as I thought that I may have written it down wrong at the UAN casting and that he was too old but she said its correct and that they have prob just written it down wrong at m&p. She said the older ones were in the morning so not to worry.

So that's the first one down, I guess now its sit and wait! Do you normally get a call whatever the outcome or is it just if you are successful?

brooke77 · 06/10/2008 16:20

hi jojosmaman.. well done to u and your lo ! You'll only get a call if successful.. so good luck !!

julie4travel · 06/10/2008 17:04

jojosmaman- well done on your first casting. you normally only hear back if you are successful. i normally give it three days after a casting then presume its a no go if i havent heard anything by then. saying that we were booked for cbeebies 2 weeks afterwards and i was really shocked with that one!

bagism · 06/10/2008 17:37

Hi everyone, i'm thinking about this for my DD. We're in the midlands, could anyone reccommend an agency, what we have to do etc?
Thankyou!

puffling · 06/10/2008 17:56

jojosmaman - what happens at a casting?

MelodyDaisy · 06/10/2008 20:15

Hi all, jojosmaman- Pleased it went well, hopefully you'll hear back
My DS1 had 2 castings today and not long been back, so exhausted!
My DD has her first job tomorrow!! YAY!! Got a call today saying she's been confirmed for tomorrow, I didn't know anything about it! lol. It's for Tesco, anyone else going?

OP posts:
jojosmaman · 06/10/2008 20:49

Thanks for the info, no matter what happens it was a good first experience to see what how it all works and see how ds reacts to it.

Puffling- Today it was really easy, literally went in, waited about 2 or 3 mins and then ds had a couple of shots taken and that was it! We were in an out in about 10mins.

Well done Melody and good luck for tomorrow!

Bagism- sorry I can't be any help, I am new to this myself!

HellFireandDamnation · 06/10/2008 21:56

Sequin 1 - don't think anyone has answered you - but I asked a similar question a while back and I don't think anyone knows really! Babyshack is supposedly the baby part of Bizzykids I think but my 8 month old was rejected from bs and accepted by BK! Thought you were going with AK? I have just sent some photos through - loads I couldn't choose! Hope that doesn't annoy them! But I thought better to send a load for them to choose from than to keep sending ones no good!

Here's a question which is probably daft. But why do you need castings and then the job for photo shoots? Particularly with babies? Surely they can take all the photos they need on the one day and then choose which ones they want. Don't they run the high risk of a baby being horrible on the day?

Melody - brilliant! Let us know how it all goes and what we have to look out for when!

HellFireandDamnation · 06/10/2008 21:57

bagism - can't help - but look back at Spt thread and others as I know it's been covered.

MelodyDaisy · 06/10/2008 22:02

You can visit Alba Models site for info on agencies that are reputable within the midlands area, not sure myself though.

HFD-They do it so they can see them for themselve's and how they act in front of them camera for them etc. Some do go straight from picture's on website though, my DS1, DS2 and DD have now all had atleast one straight photographic job.

OP posts:
HellFireandDamnation · 06/10/2008 22:31

is a straight job from the agency photo or from them deciding at the first shoot?

HellFireandDamnation · 07/10/2008 14:07

AK should have received my photos today for website - how long now to wait for anything! I'm so impatient!

Sequin1 · 07/10/2008 14:09

Hi Hellfire

Yeah I was going to go with AK but I am having a right mare with the photos getting them to be exactly what they are after, I sent some in on Friday never heard anything so I chased them and they said they were too close up or blurry :-(

I am pleased that you managed to send off a selection!

dreadlocks · 07/10/2008 15:19

HFandD , yes straight jobs come when the agent has sent the photos of all the kids that match the clients brief, generally you do not know this has happened . The client may just pick a child or produce a short list.
At this point you may get an "availability check" to make sure you can do the shoot dates. Then if picked you will get a call with all the details.
I know the only ad we have done with a baby they had a "spare" in case the first one didn't perform (she didn't) so the spare did the shoot, the first baby would have got the filming fee but not the buyout which is the large amount of money.
some companies just don't seem to do castings and others do for the smallest things.
I love it when the phone rings for a straight job, one less trip into London!
Actually at the moment i would just like the phone to ring.......

christabel · 07/10/2008 16:37

HOORAY - UAN Contract arrived - do you have to send GP letter to UAN or keep to send with council. Need to ring agency DD with tomorrow and not looking forward to that as they never seem that approachable. Like UAN already, they communicate well as received a few emails this week.

Luce2006 · 07/10/2008 18:32

For those of you with UA: how long do they take to update your children's details?
Do they even do that?
I am asking because I emailed them a while ago with my ds's new mesurements ( he's grown 5 cm since June and gone up a size and a half in shoes )but on his webpage there are still the old ones [hmmm]

geminimummy · 07/10/2008 18:41

Just wondering if anyone could recomend a good agency for my son. I sent his stuff off to Kids London but he wasnt accepted 1st time he hasnt been accepted by an agency, so a bit gutted, but i want to try some other agencies. Thanks

marymay · 07/10/2008 19:16

Luce2006..Normally they do them the same day or day after.Did they reply to your email ? maybe they didnt get it.
I would do one of them .Im sorry to trouble you ,i know you are busy kind of emails.

Luce2006 · 07/10/2008 19:27

Thanks marymay. No,they didn't reply to the last three emails I sent them about holidays and mesurements.
gonna send another one tomorrow am

HellFireandDamnation · 07/10/2008 19:56

what's a buyout?
Geminimummy - google the following: Alaphabet Kids, Babyshak Bizzykids, MOT, Scallywags, Bruce and Brown, Elisabth Smith - they are the biggies.

Sequin 1 - sent off a load but don't know if they were any good - nightmae taking the shots - may phone tomorrow and see if they got them but don't want to sound pushy! Anyone know how long to wait before chasing?? I so want to get started - well at least started on thei books and info being sent out!

Melody - how did the job go?

Sequin1 · 07/10/2008 20:01

Hi hellfire

I managed to take a few more and sent them off today but like you have not heard back... like you just wana get started!

MelodyDaisy · 07/10/2008 20:19

Hi HFD- Shoot went okay, were shooting for 5 hours! Quite a long day for a 5 yr old! We left home at 7am and got home at 6.15pm! lol So I am shattered, DD fine though and ate soo much food today. The shoot was outside on farm land with a little log cabin thing to sit in, soo pleased weather wasn't too bad as they had no coats!

Just send another email asking if the photo's you sent were okay!

OP posts:
HellFireandDamnation · 07/10/2008 20:31

Don't want to appear like I'm pestering tho! s they have new website where you upload all the details and Kimbeley said to upload any photos and then send photos to her. I sent too many I know I did! Sent an email saying had uplodaed stuff and photos would follow - asking for details about contract and not heard anything to that email and then nothing about these photos but how long should I give?!

What's a buyout?

HellFireandDamnation · 07/10/2008 20:51

Melody - what's the situation with licences and AK?

dreadlocks · 07/10/2008 20:57

HFandD
With commercials you get a lump sum in addition to the fee you child gets for the actual shoot this is a "buyout". The amount depends on how long the commercial is going to be on tv and the countries it is going to be shown in. For a commercial shown say only over one weekend the buyout is about 450.00 but if it is a long term commercial it can be into four figures,if the useage is then extended you get the buyout again! We had one where it was only to be shown in Britain but the was shown twice in Rep of Ireland so ds got another cheque for over 200.00 which was a very nice surprise. However if they film your child but then do not use them in the end commercail you do not get the buyout.
Md glad your DD had a good day, sounds long but exciting.
