Morning all
September's thread was very long so thought best to start a new thread as Brooke77 suggested too!

Am off to London again tomorrow for DS1 has a tv show casting, anyone have anything coming up?

Any of you had contract's through from UAN yet?

Well he is 3 so had professional pics done with my other 2 kids, but I would alway's advise white, it's what the other kids headshots are like on the website. The full shot they can have different colours on them if you so wish though. Ideally just a simple round neck t-shirt works best.

Hi curlylox

How old is your DD? Iam in same postion but i have worked with SW and are good my DS had 3 jobs in 1 year. He came out of contract recently. They offered to represent him again but thought i would shop around. My DS has been accepted by ES,BK,KK and AK who i have an appointment with tommmorow. I also got the email from MOT saying they r not taken any junior models on today.

I was thinking ES but will see how tommorow goes with AK. The reason i am thinking ES as when i contacted companies her name was always mentioned but not meet anyone on hear currently with them.

AK has been mentioned alot and get alot of work and`also U/A are very liked.

Curlylox · 28/10/2008 20:39

Hi joflow

My DD is 4 how old is your DS? It seems I missed the opening of AK will have to apply in January now. Do you think I should apply anyway with AK?

joflow · 28/10/2008 20:43

Hi Curlylox

I would i only applied 1 week or so ago if they like them will make time. My DS is nearly 3.

ilovetochat · 28/10/2008 20:45

Curlylox · 28/10/2008 20:53

Hi Melody
Would value any advise you can offer....seems like you've been in the business for a wee while

liahGeneMutatedMonster · 28/10/2008 22:16

curly,

of the ones yu have mentioned that have said yes. First i would wait for ua to get back to you.

then sw
ak/bk
es
kk

prob in that order.

enjoy

MelodyDaisy · 28/10/2008 22:22

Curlylox- I only joined my DC with AK in August but have already had alot more castings/ jobs that it feels alot longer! lol
Saying that, my dd did modelling as a baby 4/5yrs ago.

She was with ES and had some nice jobs, but I chose not to put them with them now. Mainly because of the fees and I also feel that agents go to them for just mainly one thing, babies! PLUS, they don't even meet the children anymore and are just saying yes via email which I don't like, but they are still reputable.
I would still hold fire till you hear from UA, which is only a matter of days anyway and you also have to think about what you want from an agency. I chose AK as knew they get alot of tv work too which my DS's are particularly interested in, but get castings for alot of the photographic work too.
Have seen BK at 2 castings only, again, I don't like the fact they don't want to meet children to assess and make sure they are good enough.

ilovetochat-Someone who know's Rugeley, how funny!! Is it still full of just charity shops?! lol Where are you then, Lichfield?/Armitage?

grumpalumpa · 28/10/2008 22:41

Kids London and Bruce & Brown don't initially meet the kids they take on to "make sure they are good enough" yet they must get something right as they get their kids work!

HellFireandDamnation · 28/10/2008 23:01

Puree and Pearls - nightmare for photos! My lo was 9 mths ahe too was sick when he got over excited from laughing so much. But the delay on pressing the camera meant I kept missing it! Must have taken about 80! But that's why I'm not a professional photographer!!!!!!!!! It's a good sony 7.2 pixel camera but it kept doing grainy pics for AK! Don't know if this helps - but I was using picasa to try and improve the photos changing the light etc. Don't do that! Kimberley told me that the ones where I left well alone were better!

Forgotten who was asking about Tesco - going there tomorrow - ours is a massive one will look for the red party dress!

Totally - should get pc back tomorrow evening from the menders!! On it is the favourites so will be able to get back to netmums and will post asking you to pm me! Sorry forgotten who you are but brain cells all died when I gave birth!!! Will give you lots of pointers of what to look for in nursery!!

Off for a week I bet ds would have been offerred work!

HellFireandDamnation · 28/10/2008 23:43

Melody! Did you know your child is on the AK main site?!! Fantastic! Must be al the work he's getting they've put him on the big pages!! Fabulous!

Tinkerbel6 · 29/10/2008 10:11

Grumpalumpa B&B do see the children before they decide whether they take them on or not, it might be different with babies but the agencies like to see how they act in front of a camera and away from the parents, you can never tell just from a photo.

tinkerbellchelle · 29/10/2008 10:23

I got my UAN pictures this morning, in one DS is smiling just a little bit but more of a serious face but in the other he is laughing with this huge smile Really pleased with them
Did any UAN mummies get there's?

Puree - if your camera isn't that great, you could try an outdoors shot (OK, not best idea today as it's pigging cold!) but the light is more forgiving - sometimes it's the flash/artificial light that makes your LO look a bit drained. Find a white/pale wall, or pin a sheet to the wall or a shed. (Neighbours might think you're mad, of course...)

Re t-shirt colours, Norrie Carr and Bruce&Brown always use coloured tops (DD2 had her model book shots Monday, we had to take a selection of different plain coloured tops - the ones they didn't use went straight back to H&M/Zara/Primark on the way home). Yellow is not a good colour for photos, choose one that flatters your child's colour.

HFD - it was me asking re Tesco - went to the big one at Camberley and they had the other outfit on the blond girl (who DD3 always seems to be working with - it's really cute when they keep meeting up at shoots as they are only weeks apart in age)

Shoot in a field sounds mucky but fun! Bet you're glad it wasn't this week!

Grumpalumpa - B&B did see my DD2 before taking her on even though she had already been with NC for 2 years.

ilovetochat · 29/10/2008 13:54

hi melody, brownhills near burntwood but my friend is a pc at rugeley and there are charity shops and pound shops everywhere round here.
do the agencies take lots of different types of children? DD is quite shy with strangers so i'm thinking she would be no good?

Housemum · 29/10/2008 15:51

ilovetochat - kids do need to be pretty confident, particularly with castings where they form their opinion from first impressions. DD2 used to go in the creche at local gym/pool quite often, that built up confidence at separaation etc

ilovetochat · 29/10/2008 18:09

i am a sahm so i don't really leave dd but i have left her at a creche while at an exercise class and with my mom. She is more than happy in a room full of kids but if an adult tried to pick her up she goes off on one. She loves attention and cameras though.

brooke77 · 29/10/2008 18:24

hi ilovetochat.. how old is your dd? they dont take younger children off by themselves at castings... you would always be with her if she is small.

dreadlocks · 29/10/2008 19:40

ilovetochat
Often children on modelling jobs and commercials have their "pretend"parents who might have to pick them up/ hug/feed them them etc your little one whould have to be comfortable in this situation.

ilovetochat · 29/10/2008 19:58

she is 15 months and has to know people before they can get near so maybe she is not suitable. only started thinking about it because of this thread really and her having pictures taken Monday which she loved but they were alone or with us.

christabel · 29/10/2008 20:37

Tinkerbellechelle

I got my DD's photos and to be honest thought they were the best photos anyone has ever taken of her so really pleased. Can't wait for Saturday when website goes live and hopefully phone starts ringing soon.

christabel · 29/10/2008 20:38

My DD on Halloween packaging of some of halloween goodies in Tescos. Get a bit emotional when you go in store and see your little ones on packaging (might be just me being a bit soft!!!!)

HellFireandDamnation · 29/10/2008 22:53

Christabel - wow what a buzz! Congrats - what is she on?

MelodyDaisy · 29/10/2008 23:12

ilovetochat-You can only know when you perhap's go and meet with an agency, so you really do need to seek an agency where they want to meet the child first before handing over any money!
Have not long been back from visiting family in Stafford, I used to go to Brownhills market quite alot, alway's enjoyed having some donuts from there

Christabel-Aww bless, it's lovely isn't it? My DS1's first print came out the other week and I found it really bizarre! lol

OP posts:
Housemum · 30/10/2008 08:26

Christabel - it's v wciting - don't you just want to stand and shout, "look at my baby!"
