natnoonoo · 16/08/2008 18:45

hi everyone, does anyone know much about rascals? anyone with them if so have they had much work and how are you finding them?

totallyfloaty35 · 16/08/2008 23:22

they are an agency with a good rep, they have kids that work, however, your child can be with the best agent and not work at all or work every week. Some agents are better for some types of work eg.fashion or tv. Your best bet is to pick an agent you click with.I find some agents like KL a bit abrupt and not very approachable. But they are very good,my child was with them but she is not high fashion and so i moved her.
Some agents get very stroppy if you turn down castings and threaton to remove you from their books, some agents are great with feedback and some you can send updates etc in every week and they never get round to changing your childs details.Choose an agent you as the parent like, give them at least 6months as getting off to a flying start is actually quite rare.If you dont think they are for you after that time then start considering somewhere else goodluck with your choice.

natnoonoo · 17/08/2008 09:38

thanks for the advice totallyfloaty, signed up with rascals now so will see how we get on

brooke77 · 17/08/2008 09:45

hi natnoonoo.. my dd is with rascals.. she's doing ok so far.. they definitey get the work and i've found them fine to deal with.. good luck for your children !

natnoonoo · 17/08/2008 14:18

thanks brooke77. just out of curiosity how long did it take before you got your first casting. i know these things can take time and sometimes never for some children but it is quite exiting at first wondering when something might pop up. Also what kind of work has your dd done?

julie4travel · 17/08/2008 15:43

natnoonoo - our experience has been 8 weeks wait for a casting from changing agents, obv you are very lucky if you get one straight away!

natnoonoo · 17/08/2008 16:58

julie4travel- What agent did you leave and how come you left, also who you with now? hope you dont mind me being nosy just trying to learn a bit more about it all.

brooke77 · 17/08/2008 18:21

yes, similar to julie.. couple of months after joining before 1st casting.. can really happen anytime though.. as did for melody's ds last week !! probably not the norm, but you never know !!!!

natnoonoo · 17/08/2008 20:35

thats ok then, well i will be sure to let everyone know when my dd gets her first casting x

julie4travel · 17/08/2008 21:37

natnoonoo - we went with bb and got our casting after 8 weeks joining them
we were with ts and after 6 weeks of being with them got our first casting
have also been with sw yet we only had 1 straight job in a year - no other castings hence leaving them - plus the renewal fees increased so i wanted a low fee agent.
i do see rascals at quite a few castings actually so def get the work. hope you dont wait too long for your first casting!

MelodyDaisy · 18/08/2008 16:47

I have only just joined my DS1 into an agency ( 9 days ago) and he was given a casting before I had even signed and sent the papers!! They only received them a week ago today and so far he's had 2 castings and one possible tv job(on standby) and he has ANOTHER job on Wednesday!! So I guess we have been very lucky to have 3 castings within one week!!

Let us know how you get on! x

melodydaisy- wow that is brilliant.my dd pictures went up today on their website, sounds silly but feel so proud jus to see them had to tell everyone. fingers x it wont be 2 long. well done 2 your ds let us know how it all goes x

MelodyDaisy · 18/08/2008 18:41

Bet it was great to see the pics up! Normally it can take a while to get a casting so don't be disheartened if it doesn't happen straight away, but also be prepared if it happen's very quickly too!! :0)

Have also joined my DD and DS2 as well but they have not had one yet, so I shall make a mental note of how long it is before they do.

melodydaisy - good luck your ds is on a roll

MelodyDaisy · 19/08/2008 00:06

Anyone else got any casting job's coming up this week? Josh has a straight job on Wednesday, was nice not having to pay twice to get into London I must admit!! Am looking forward to meeting some of you in the future :0)

OP posts:
Onthebeach · 19/08/2008 08:20

Melody daisy, wow your ds has had such a great start, you must be really pleased, what is the job for on Wednesday? Straight jobs are great if you are outside London, we are too, but have been lucky and had more straight jobs than ones with a casting first.

MelodyDaisy · 19/08/2008 11:51

Hi Onthebeach and thanks. I am still completely overwhelmed and just can't stop laughing about how much of a great start he's had, gobsmacked!!
It's for Sainsbury's 'fresh idea's' magazine. Do you have anything coming up soon? Whereabouts do you live then?

scottishAnnie · 19/08/2008 15:00

My son has been accepted by ES and TS. Not much ever mentioned about TS on this forum...Are they okay. I know I have to pay around £275 to get started but do they get jobs etc

Just starting in all this finding it a bit of a minefield.

MelodyDaisy · 19/08/2008 15:13

Whereabouts do you live? Have you tried some other, smaller fee charging agencie's? Even if you aren't accepted into bb, kl,mot with no fees, there are still cheaper one's than ES! How old is your DS?

OP posts:
brooke77 · 19/08/2008 15:18

hi scottishannie.. my dd did a job with a girl from ts and i've seen them at other castings too.. good luck !

scottishAnnie · 19/08/2008 15:49

Don't be confused by the name....I live in Surrey.

I got a 'no' from BB and KL and these are the only ones I've tried (along with TS and ES). I suppose I should try others. He is 3 and half. Is this a bad age ? I suppose its neither school age or toddler, a bit in between.

MelodyDaisy · 19/08/2008 17:48

Can't think who TS are?! lol
just make sure you look around/go see some to see what suits you before you pay alot of money out.
My DS2 is also 3, I think it will be a tricky age but he's only just joined not even 2 weeks ago so who knows, others on here can probably give a better answer to that :0)
