Hi. Just wanted to say that my DS1 has a casting on Monday already and only went to see AK 2 weeks ago!!

Anyone else got castings/jobs coming up?

Hi Ladies

Just come across this thread and was hoping someone may be able to give me some advice I have applied to 3 modelling agencies in manchester for my daughter (age4)we had an interview at Nemesis last week and they said they would take her on and want us to go for photos mid sept, we have and interview with urban Angels next sun and one with Boss in Oct.
Is any one with any of these agencies? any advice as to which is best? Any opinions on whether i should go with Nemesis or hold out for one of the others?
Any replies will be very gratefully received!!

That is fab you have got an assessment with them, they are starting up UAN so sure to be a good one to get involved in as their reputation is very highly regarded. I think the other 2 are okay as well, but would think UAN first

Siobhan your little on is so gorgeous, I think you will be ok with BK and im sure that he will get work.

Steph I woul hold out for UAN for now then Boss, havn't heard of Nemesis, good luck for UAN.

Wow, you girls are quick,lol! thanks for the advice, its so hard to know which to go with when you have no experience of them. I have found plenty of advice on agencies to steer clear of, but few recommendations!
My only concern about Urban Angels is that they said the office will be in Newcastle and i live in Manchester, they did say most of the work will be manchester, do you think it will be problem? dont want to have to trek to Newcastle!

Shouldn't imagine it would be a problem, they have to put a base down somewhere and should imagine myself that majority of work would be in Manchester. They would not want people on their books that lived that far away from where the majority of work will be either

Anyone still not heard from UAN? DD is 2.Have they asked for the 2 yr olds yet?

both mine have been called, ds1 is nearly 5, and ds2 is 2 1/2. i wud contact them and ask if they have missed u out.....

Just registered my 5 year old daughter with BK about 3 weeks ago. Had phone call on Friday confirming a casting tomorrow in London for a government TV commercial to do with stop smoking helpline. Thought that was quick.

puffling UAN are still calling people, today and tommorrow, so don't worry there's still time to hear from them. Will keep my fingers crossed for you and your dd.

Steph - I would also wait to see what happens with UAN. For those up north my niece is with Boss and they're happy with them, according to my sil they don't get as much work as here in London but she said she's done a fair bit and mostly straight jobs.

Melody - Mine are with KL (dd) and UA (ds).

How was the photo shoot for AK? Fingers crossed for your ds for this possible job.

Ichef- AK shoot was exhausting with all 3 kids in the muggy heat we had on Saturday!! lol. Just got back from a casting, went well I think. He's pencilled for the Wall's sausage's job so fingers crossed on that one and he's doing the Disney shoot tomorrow AND another casting at 5-30pm if Disney will let us finish early enough to make it!

Here's hoping everything comes together for all of us

Melody - I have to be honest with you I never thought AK had so much work, very happy for you if not slightly lol maybe I should have considered them when they offered us a place oh well it's too late now let's just hope my dc start getting more castings soon. Good luck tomorrow at the Disney shoot hope it goes well.

ichef - we have seen ak at most of the commercial castings we have been to this year. they seem to get voiceover work too. we filmed the other day and the production company did rate ak for providing a good service etc. they do seem to be a good agent. well done melody! good luck for filming tommorow

Steph8880 - My DD with Nemesis and to be honest only had 1 job this year. Been told by a few people that adults are their priority. My DD has an appointment with UAN and if taken on will leave Nemesis. Boss are apparently best agency in Manchester for kids and have an appointment with them end of Oct (but will see how get on with UAN) Typical though as about 6 spots have appeared on DD's forehead - she has never had any before so hope they go before Sat.

Ichef-LOL!! You are with very good agencie's so no doubt your DC will get more and more work. I guess my DS1 has just been very lucky and I am under no illusion that this is going to continue in this way all the time, it could well just be beginners luck and not have anything for a few months after this week, you just never know with this industry do you? Make sure you let me know ASAP when you get another casting, have you heard back from the others you did yet? Will keep fingers crossed

has any body children worked with scally wags bizzy kids or elisabeth smith, my children have been accepted by them it seems a lot of money to join and tay take a high percentage is it worth it?

1978 - imo No it isnt worth the fees. I didnt make anything like the fees I had to pay up front. Try and go with one that takes a % fees straight from the money you earn, much fairer and obviously makes them push for more work

Christabel - thanks for the advice, to be honest when we went to Nemesis the woman (Sam) who we saw said they stopped doing kids a while ago cos they were too much hastle and too much paper work but started again a couple of years ago when they realised the kids and the agency were missing out!! it did put me off a bit.Think i am going to cancel our photo session with them and hope for a yes from UAN or Boss.

Our apt with UAN is Sunday morning, is anyone else going then?

Boss is 27th Oct, anyone going then?

If you get accepted by UAN would you go with them, or is anyone prefering Boss??
