melodydaisy - i hardly get any feedback from mine! he enjoyed it apparently though! You never know with these ones unless its the odd casting where you get to go in with them (which is rare!), doubt we will hear on it

MelodyDaisy · 12/08/2008 11:07

brooke77, that's a shame you had to miss out, hopefully more will come when you are not away!

julie4travel-Glad I am not the only one who doesn't get an awful ot out of their DS's!! lol

Hi all,

my kids have been accepted by quite a few agencies, but I just don't know enough about the differences yet to know which to go for, can anyone help?? They have had a yes from BizzyKidz, Bubblegum (older DD), Rascals, Scallywags, Elisabeth Smith (DS), Kitsch Kids and Kids London - I know KL don't have charges so I am assuming they don't take all applicants - any advice would be great!! Thanks x

mummyshoneys · 13/08/2008 20:15

Oh, and a yes from Norrie Carr too

natnoonoo · 13/08/2008 21:09

im in similar situation,my dd been accepted by bk,rascals and scallywags and im waiting on reply from bruce + brown which i know could take a while as only posted pics mon.i got interview tom wiv r and also one next week with sw, but dont really want to go with one of them and pay around 300 then get accepted by bb which dont charge but then on otherhand dont want to not go wiv one of them and then not get accepted by bb.Also wondering between sw and r which would be the better of the 2, ive ruled out bk dont like the fact theyre willing to take on without meeting first seem they jus wanna get your cash regardless of if child being suited 4 the work

totallyfloaty35 · 13/08/2008 22:50

Lots of agents dont meet you first, and you as a parent know what your child is like with strangers or in front of a camera,so most agents would assume you would not have applied if your child was not happy in that situation.
KL have good rep and no charges, they do a lot of photographic(they do not meet you first). If your child is better in tv etc,R,SW,BK, and AK should be ok. NC pretty good agent and very selective,ES the same but very high charges

mummyshoneys · 14/08/2008 09:36

Thanks totallyfloaty35, can I ask if you have direct experience of KL? I would love to know what you, or anyone else in the know, thinks of them as an agency, and of Norrie Carr and ES too as I hear mixed opinion on these - thanks all, this is a great resource!

MelodyDaisy · 14/08/2008 10:55

I can tell you that ES are REALLY expensive and they themselve's said to me they get more work for the young, young one's so if your kids are 3 upward's then you may be better off going somewhere else.

I hear excellent reports on here of KL, BB and UA.

mummyshoneys kl is the best one imo out of the agencies you have had a yes from.
My ds is with B&B not KL but they are both very similar and both very good.

nappyaddict · 14/08/2008 18:31

ds didn't get accepted by UAN oh well.

MelodyDaisy · 14/08/2008 18:50

Oh dear, don't let it hold you back though, there are other agencies that also get the work

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 14/08/2008 18:52

yep but we are in the midlands so there isn't another one that we could use up here.

bogie · 14/08/2008 19:10

NA DKmodels.net
They are midlands they don't get huge amounts of work but the work they get is good my ds was with them first and did a great job for mamas and papas (there is a little pic of it in my profile he is in a santa suit with a teddy) he was in there catalouge loads and he was on a huge billboard type thing in the bullring.

nappyaddict · 14/08/2008 19:12

aren't there start up costs quite high though?

bogie · 14/08/2008 19:20

Not when we were with them I think they took £35 out of ds' first earnings for a website fee but I didn't pay anything to join them.

nappyaddict · 14/08/2008 19:22

ah that's not too bad. where are they based? just wondering if they might be too far to get to if they did offer us a consultation.

bogie · 14/08/2008 19:24

There in sheffield they don't do a consultation and the castings they sent us to were usally in leeds or york.

nappyaddict · 14/08/2008 19:25

oh it takes longer to get to leeds than it does to get to london anyway.

liahgen · 14/08/2008 21:17

hi,

Anyone heard of Stand out agency in Sheffield?

My niece has been asked by them and don't want her being taken for a ride. I've never heard of them.

bogie · 14/08/2008 21:35

I have heard of them but never seen them at castings or jobs and I don't know anyone who is withthem so I wouldn't pay to join an agency that isn't recommended by someone.

If she is after a sheffield agent try dkmodels.net my ds used to be with them they get work (not loads and loads but some.)

liahgen · 14/08/2008 21:44

thanks Bogie, my kids are with KL, nd have been for years. My niece lives up north and entered her baby into local paper comp. They contcted her re baby. I would always steer clear of being approached this way tbh.

thanks

CJMommy · 14/08/2008 22:50

NappyAddict - There is an agency that's recently (I think) started up in telford where I live called Chilli Models. i don't know anything about it but found it as it was mentioned previously on this thread. They have a website too but don't know the address, sorry.

I had an initial 'yes' from UA North but they said that they would let me know by the end of august if DS had been shortlisted.

Hi all. Just wanted to say that my DS1 only had his 1st ever casting on Monday where they'd had 6 day's of casting's and had a phone call today to say he is on 'standby' for TWO jobs!! He is 'apparently' the only standby for it so if someone doesn't make it, or for some reason a child doesn't work out then he is in! What an amazing first casting for someone who has no experience yet at all!! YAY!!
