I don’t recall the fiancé (he was jolly nice obviously) and DH does not know 😁. We were all sitting round a table on a balcony at a cafe overlooking a bay, beautifully sunny day. Dream brain decided it was Italy because Emilia Fox stars in Signora Volpe.

Back from book club. I’ve started Normal Women. Fought the urge to mutter “William I what a pillock” or to whoop at the stories of the women I’ve read so far. Think I’ll intersperse it with reading a novel too because it’s quite a hefty book.

Morning all. More rain overnight, and I had an annoying 'my bag has been stolen with all my money and my phone' dream. So that wasn't very relaxing. I woke up at 5am and was very grumpy about it. Stupid dreams!

'Pillock' is very polite LetUs I think I was seething a lot muttering 'Bastards!' when I was reading it.

Am working from home today - finally removed TCFKAC's collar yesterday & thought it would be a good day to be around to make sure he didn't overwash the scar.

Work is....work. Would much rather be outside where it is lovely & sunny, would be a perfect day for a walk.

Glad to hear there were no big side effects from the flu jab apricot - mine's next week & hope it's the same for me.

Evening all. The evening catch-up was fun, though interrupted by calls from Elk postponing the visit, DH booking concert tickets, and my brother for a general catch-up. Also the cafe shut around us because we thought it was open later than it was. Much disorganisation!

Afternoon all. I have today off since Elk was visiting. So even if we have no visitor now, I'm just entitled to faff around and do nothing very productive. That's my position and I'm sticking to it.

v. windy outside, but not much rain - we've had about half an inch of rain since Wednesday, and need to move some of the new wood undercover. <sigh>

Oh - I've finished those bloody awful 4x4 sudokus. Never want to do one of those again, my brain can't cope with 1-16 as possibilities - the number of squares I had marked up as a possible number that turned out to be in that block already...., Ugh.

Afternoon. Rain on and off all day, more like April than October. I went to the village-up-the-road to post a package and the post office was shut until 12 noon, so I did Sainsbury's and some other stuff and went back at 12.02. The queue was out of the door, must have been 15 people. Honestly, a village of over 10,000 people has only one post office counter which shuts at random times. There used to be three until the shop was sold to Morrisons. I left and went to another one 3 miles away. All that for a £5 eBay package which wasn't even for me, it was for DS. Ah well, it keeps me busy.

Your evening sounds a bit chaotic Helen, shame about Elk's visit. I don't think I would attempt one of those sudokus, the 12-square ones are enough.

Evening all. Wind, rain, sun... I went outside in a fleece and coat this afternoon, and ended up in just a T-shirt. The weather is mad. More wood has been split and stacked, and I did a bit of general tidying but that's about it. Bit of a 'meh' day really.

DS had one job to do, and did nothing about it. <sigh>

I’ve just had a thought re my impending nuptials - wench bridesmaids! And seeing as I got engaged in Italy, might as well have the wedding there too 😁

NearbyVillage is getting bigger and bigger but the amenities and infrastructure are not, and in some ways they’re getting smaller.

Afternoon. Quite a nice day but I went outside earlier and it's definitely colder. I think sitting in the garden is finished now until next year. DH is doing some electrical job at DD's so I took a leaf out of MrHelen's book and made a list of some small jobs around the house that have been annoying me, and I've done them, so a list does help.

Yes, LetUs, this is the trouble with building new houses. They've just built over 200 up the road but there are no new shops, doctors, dentists, schools etc. and still only two roads out of the village. Last week there were roadworks on both of them, and the village was gridlocked. It didn't affect us but the traffic on the main road is definitely worse. Happy birthday to LetUsDS1.

I print my own labels but as you say Fancy it's so annoying if you get someone with a bag full of parcels searching for the correct QR code on their phone for each one.

That’s been happening in NearbyVillage with the traffic already Apricot, and the houses aren’t even all built yet. It just took a couple of sets of roadworks and it was chaos.
