Afternoon. It started off sunny but clouded over mid-morning. I went for a routine blood test and did a top-up food shop while I was out.

Similar weather here Apricot. I’m already planning ahead for the week’s good weather. Have told DS2 I’d like him to get the beds stripped tomorrow and then make his own. Might even - if the excitement levels can stand it - wash some dressing gowns!

Traffic wasn’t too bad really. I shan’t get complacent though.

Evening all. We've had a mix of sunny and cloudy. Warm when the sun's out, but cold otherwise. Washing got mostly dried on the line, and then I didn't quite get it in before we had a shower. Le sigh, etc. Excited to hear we might have good weather ahead though.

Today has mostly been work. Since LetUs was busy seething on my behalf, I was able to forget about/be too busy to either grouch about kittens, or do anything about house prep for them. So hurrah for not being a martyr. I forgot about making banana cake though. Bother.

Hope that Wicked's travels home go smoothly and that Apricot's blood test was painfree, and Fancy has had a good day.

Morning all. Sunny here, but cold still. Did a tiny bit of kitten prep last night before bed, and pointed out to DS that I need his help with it or his stuff will end up wherever I put it - not where he wants it. It may have sunk in. Or it may not.

Exercise and work call. (Actually, already done a bit of work, so that's a bonus.)

Afternoon. Nice day, but there’s still a cold wind. I’ve been deadheading the hydrangeas as it’s bin day tomorrow, and giving the pampas a hair cut. It’s got quite out of hand and DH wants to set fire to it, which is a thing, but I’m a bit nervous as it’s quite close to the house.

As a result of my blood test my GP phoned this morning to tell me my thyroid levels are borderline. I told him that they have been for the last 16 years and I think my foot problems are due to this. To be fair, I’ve never reported this to them, because of side-effects of the medication, so it’s my own fault really. He suggested I give it a try, so that’s another one added to the list. Everything else was normal.

Had a fab mini meet up with ww, we were cultural and had scones - perfect way to spend a Monday. Sadly, back to work today. It was fairly dull.

Will finish The Other Bennet Sister this evening, it's not stellar, but is very pleasant watching and has entertained me well.

DS has gone all out into a frenzy of tidying and done a very good job of it. My expectations are raised to unrealistic levels. I can see floor that hasn't seen the light of day in a looong time. Of course, the problem is that since he's tidying, everyone else is expected to stop what they were doing and help/decide where things should live, etc... <sigh> Still, he's gone up to bed now, so I'm safe to sit down at the laptop again.

It's been sunny today but really cold in the shade and wind. Work has been done.

Apricot, at MrA's pyromaniac tendencies and the potential for setting the house on fire! Definitely not a good idea. Glad to hear that test results didn't flag up any issues that you didn't already know about. Hopefully the extra drugs help though. I did enjoy TOBS Fancy, despite it's utter predictability After all, we know better than to question the plot of something that's fun to watch. Mr Collins was actually a rather sympathetic character, and Darcy's brief appearances towards the end made me laugh.

Did house stuff etc when I got in, had dinner, and then lost track of time doing a jigsaw.

Hurrah for cultural and scones meet up with Wicked Fancy! Agree with Helen re Mr Collins and Darcy. I did shout at the tv a few times at Mrs Bennet.

Crikey MiniHelen! Well done on the tidying, I know exactly what you mean though with having to help etc. DS2 stripped and remade his bed so that was good.

I’ve put a wash out already this morning and gosh it was rather chilly. Still windy too which I wasn’t expecting. We’re forecast 21° on Saturday! We shall see.

Work was very worky. Spied some temporary lights on the way home either being set up or put away. Have everything crossed for the latter.

I checked the roadworks. The lights were being set up and they’re there for a week. Ah well, can’t do anything about it.

Today I mostly cannot be bothered. ('So what's new?' I hear you ask!) So I'm plugging away at work with no enthusiasm and a mild headache, and fantasising about a warm spa break with no responsibilities.

DS has been burbling at me about one of his x-box games called Elden Ring. As far as I've seen it seem to involve him killing eldritch monstery things. Apparently it's being made into a film with TB in it. I wasn't aware there was any plot to it, but DS insists that there is.

We're currently giggling at Bill Bailey which we recorded yonks ago.

I think I saw a headline about a game being made into a film, this one with Ben Whishaw in it. Didn’t click on it though so no idea what it’s about.

Roadworks can piss off but I shall try to be more relaxed about them as they’re unavoidable.

Bright and sunny but apparently only 1° at the moment. It’ll be quite a bit warmer later today though.

Set washing to finish at 6. At that point it still had about 40 minutes go. Am hoping for human error rather than a problem with the machine.

Morning. It's bright and sunny here too, and we had a fairly hard ground frost overnight, which was a bit 'eek' because I forgot to bring in the runner bean seedlings last night. Fortunately they're sheltered enough that I don't think they got caught.

Wenches! <flings open door dramatically> DS has a date!!! Tonight! (He was all stressy and pacing last night and I guessed correctly that he'd asked someone out. v. exciting. I also had to start up my laptop and book them bowling, and then got utterly distracted by a live stream on FB of a foal being born - which is worth going to the the emojis to find this reaction - 😍😍😍

In worse news, I just walked past the freezer and something smells suspiciously hot

Work has been particularly hectic today- last minute change of plans & haven't even started on the one thing that absolutely has to be done <wibbles>

Roadworks letus? Are they like the ones round here, where there is no actual work happening on the road, but somewhere to the side? If at all. Particularly infuriating.

Beautiful day but I didn’t have a full wash load so feel I wasted it. I went into town this morning to stock up on stuff.

Oooooo at date for MiniHelen and awwww at foal Helen. I follow a Scottish farm on FB who have sheep, donkeys, horses, cows and even llamas and it’s fascinating watching the births. They just put their arms in and pull the babies out, and if they’re not coming out feet first, they push them back in and turn them round. If it’s triplets they have 12 legs to deal with and have to match them up. It’s all a bit messy but very entertaining.

Hope washing machines and freezers are behaving themselves.

OMG, the failing, the faffing. To be fair to DS, he hasn't had a 'first date' before - the last girlfriend was part of a friendship group and their first few 'dates' were just as part of a group get-together - not an outing with just the two of them. Still, he's out the door so fingers crossed it all goes well.

The hot smell has vanished and the freezer seems fine (fingers crossed)

We have roadworks here too, but they say 'high speed broadband'. If we can get an average download speed of over 10mbps as a result, I'll forgive them the disruption...

To be fair I’ve seen lots of hi-vis activity at the roadworks but gosh it’s just all the bloody time. In a couple of places it’s not two minutes since they last had the bloody road up. Made the mistake of looking at roadworks in the next three months.

There was a lot of FFS just do your bloody job, and also (a different person) stop making such a drama out of it, it’s fine.

However, I am back from collecting DS2 from SportingActivity and now have a pink vodka.

The sun is shining, the washing is ongoing, some house jobs have been done. Going to have a quiet breakfast and then hopefully have a quiet day.

Hope MiniHelen’s date went well. DS1 either kept this to himself (doubtful) or waited until he was at university. The moping when he came home for Christmas gave it away though 😁
