New thread open for reports on local wildlife, the weather, gardening and domestic chores. Plus the never ending hunt for HBFs who stubbornly fail to materialise.

Afternoon. Cloudy this morning but a lovely afternoon.

Nothing going on, just the usual house stuff. I sat outside this afternoon and did a couple of sudokus. DH still karchering.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 25/04/2026 19:19

Evening wenches.

Much much washing has been done.

Ran some errands this morning and have crocheted for a lot of the day. Sat outside too for a while, listening to some (quiet) soothing music, and also the world’s loudest pigeons.

Sitting outside with sudokus sounds perfect Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/04/2026 21:22

Evening all. I've only done one load of washing, but did a hot wash with soda crystals as well to try and get the machine all clean and shiny Hmm I'm not sure how much difference it's made. There's generally been a lot of hoovering and gardening. Currently sitting watching 'Living' on Channel 4 which is Bill Nighy being fab, and an side order of TB at some point.

Annoyingly, I seem to have lost a pair of glasses. I'm sure I put it them my pocket when I went out on my bike, and then weren't in my pocket when I went to get them out later. They were my 'bumbling about the house with a bit more magnification' glasses. Argh, etc. v. annoying.

I've heard the cuckoo in the last couple of days, and finally saw a swallow - they're been about for a week or so I think.

Morning wenches.

That’s annoying about losing your glasses Helen. Think I might see if I can download Living.

Flapjacks are done, ironing’s done. Don’t have enough for a wash(!).

Here’s to quiet days for all.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/04/2026 08:54

Morning all. It's nice and sunny outside. Plants have been watered and potted on. Livestock fed, etc etc.

Hope the pigeons have shut up LetUs and MrA has stopped being loud and annoying with his Karchering so Apricot can relax outside in peace and quiet.Grin Hope that Fanyc is enjoying the sun too and isn't working. Is Wicked in an M&S food coma?

ApricotCrush · 26/04/2026 16:33

Afternoon. Still warm, but fairly overcast, so no sitting outside. Karchering has finished but lawn mowing has taken place but I was inside so not annoying.

We watched Living ages ago and I can't remember what it was about, but remember enjoying it.

Hope Helen's glasses turned up and LetUs's noisy pigeons have gone away, although I doubt it.

Have a good evening all.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 26/04/2026 20:07

I have no idea what you are talking about, I only bought one or two things at M&S 😇Grin

Had a fab meet up with Fancy, being all cultural and playing "spot the cat" in the paintings Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 26/04/2026 20:11

Forgot the pics .....

The images are under review, a couple of photos of cats in paintings?

Oh, there they are, yay!

LetUsPrey · 26/04/2026 20:27

Evening wenches.

Quiet day hurrah! Except for the sodding pigeons 😁. Did sit outside for a bit and finished a blanket. Quite pleased with the result.

Spot the Cats in the paintings sounds an excellent game 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/04/2026 21:49

Speaking of 'Spot the cats' - Kittens are Go!!! They've been snoozing most of the evening, but just been pootling about in the kitchen, chasing ping pong balls and generally being ridiculously cute. IdiotKitty is a bit perplexed but not at all aggressive - no growling or hissing at all which has astonished me, given that he growls at anything he's not sure about usually. Though he hasn't met them outside of their cage yet.

The glasses haven't turned up and I suspect they're well and truly lost on the road on in the grass somewhere.

Also, spoke too soon re. IdiotKitty - he just came barrelling in from outside and proceeded to growl in outrage at the small furry things in his kitchen. ho hum...

LetUsPrey · 27/04/2026 07:05

Morning wenches.

Monday again is it. Ho hum.

Was just going to say what a good IdiotKitty but then got to the end of your post Helen. Perhaps he’ll soon lose interest in them? Although kittens being kittens they possibly won’t let him? Mind you, I’m no cat expert so pay no mind to me 😁

Forecast is iffy enough that I’m not risking putting outside the blanket I finished yesterday which needs to dry.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/04/2026 07:41

Morning all. High cloud today and a bit of sunshine. Kittens are kittenning all over the kitchen. IdiotKitty is v. GrumpyKitty and swearing at them through the glass door when he sees them <le sigh> They're not allowed in the same room unless the kittens are in their cage, in which case he mostly ignores them. What a fun time this will be... Hmm

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/04/2026 07:41

(DH, who wanted the kittens, if of course, asleep still.)

Morning, have been pottering in the garden for much of the weekend - today I need to finish cleaning the outside chairs and the patio. Haven't started yet 😁

Fingers crossed IdiotKitty gets bored of the hissing soon and squeeeee at kittens 😍 hurrah for more Tav cats! Although I think Floof may be half cat half St Bernard - he decided to sit on me for a cuddle on Saturday and was drooling - a proper long string of it like a bloody dog.

ApricotCrush · 27/04/2026 17:57

Afternoon. Sunny day, much washing done. I’ve been going through the filing cabinet and getting rid of a load of paperwork which we really don’t need any more and then had a sit outside this afternoon.

Spot the Cats sounds fun. Not so much fun though with the kitties <squee> and IdiotKitty. Hope he soon gets used to them.

Lol at drooling half-St Bernard Floof.

LetUsPrey · 27/04/2026 20:19

Evening wenches.

At the risk of sounding like Gerry from The Good Life, traffic over London Bridge home was awful.

<kicks MrHelen up the backside> deal with the kittens!

<snort> at part St Bernard Floof 😁

Could do with a filing cabinet here (then I can end up not filing stuff in it) but we don’t have room.

Have seen a post for a book club at my lovely bookshop I got to, but it’s not a read a certain book and discuss in a group <shudder>, it’s read what you want, chat about it if you want or just read quietly. For an hour. I think I’ll be having some of that thanks.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/04/2026 22:42

Evening all. Kitten chaos continues. IdiotKitty is beyond cross and has launched at them twice now - fortunately into the glass door between them. Tomorrow will be a trip to the vet for Feliway pheromone diffuser to try and chill him out Confused I can see them going back at this rate, which will be Not Good. Equally, IdiotKitty being so upset is also Not Good. <le sigh> Maybe I should have been the bad guy fro the start and said a hard no to kittens. (They're currently chasing their ping pong ball round the kitchen.)

I like the sound of your book club LetUs. There's a bookshop I used to follow on Twitter which did 'Page against the Machine', which was a similar idea I think.

LOL at Floof St Bernard - would he present lost mountaineers with a mouse? Grin

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 28/04/2026 06:49

Morning wenches.

😁 At mountain rescue mouse gift

That doesn’t sound fun for IdiotKitty or the kittens Helen, or you, particularly as you now seem landed at dealing with it all.

That’s an excellent bookshop name.

Come on then Tuesday, let’s get on with it.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/04/2026 13:54

Not-morning all. Rather chaotic start to the day what with there being quite a lot to deal with in the mornings... I'm trying a 'pet calming spray' to see if that help matters at all.

I have searched Twitter, and 'Page against the Machine' was run by the Book Hive, but looks like they don't do it any more. Unless they just don't post about it any more - also possible.

The weather is lovely and sunny, and I want chocolate. I'll bribe myself with another half hour of work first... Hope everyone's having a good day, and that Fancy has started cleaning the outside chairs and the patio at least!

ApricotCrush · 28/04/2026 17:39

Afternoon. Disappointing day, cloudy and not very warm. Tomorrow looks better. Have been continuing with the paperwork declutting. I was going through the DC and DGC memorabilia and an advert came on FB of someone doing exactly the same and sending it away to some company who put it all in a book. I know that phones listen to you, but I wasn’t talking and that seemed very creepy. Can phones see what you’re doing now? Confused

That book club sounds lovely LetUs.

Hope the pet-calming spray helps Helen, it all sounds rather stressful.

Have a good evening all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/04/2026 20:11

Evening all.

Well, IdiotKitty has been zonked pretty much all day, so either the calming spray worked well, or he was out on the razzle all night and is sleeping it off. Grin We'll see how any interaction goes this evening. The kittens are getting more active - aka into trouble. They found the tiniest gap and got behind the dishwasher and from there, under the kitchen cupboards. So have both had to be rescued at separate times. Slinky has warmed to me considerably since then, and Spot is just a cuddly purry little thing anyway. And now they're just chasing each other around the kitchen like little bats out of hell.

I need to make packed lunch for tomorrow, etc...

LetUsPrey · 28/04/2026 21:22

Evening wenches.

I will say nothing of traffic and work.

Similar weather here too Apricot. Actually very chilly this morning and I was half wishing I’d plumped for big coat. I feel like sometimes I can just think of something and it pops up on Facebook for example <adjusts tin foil hat>

Loving the idea of IdiotKitty ‘aving it laaaarrrge at night and sleeping it off. But fgs little kittens, stop getting yourselves stuck in places you shouldn’t be! Hopefully it’ll all calm down soon Helen.

I’m watching Sam and Ade Go Birding. Samuel West is taking Adrian Edmondson out to various places looking for birds. It’s all rather marvellous 😁

LetUsPrey · 29/04/2026 06:37

Morning wenches.

Sun is shining and it’s going to be sunny and warm for the next three days.

Short work day thank goodness.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/04/2026 07:48

Morning all. It's also sunny here, but I haven't seen a forecast to comment on the next few days. We did have a tiny bit of rain yesterday in the early hours, but nowhere near enough <sigh> So much for April Showers. Not here there weren't.

Kitten wrangling has been going on, but DH will have to be in charge today #BoringOfficeJob. IdiotKitty still hates them, but hasn't flung himself at the door so far, and has been reverting a bit more to normal routines of each, mooch, eat, sit on windowsill, go out window, come back in, eat, go upstairs...

Hope everywench has a good day!
