New thread open for reports on local wildlife, the weather, gardening and domestic chores. Plus the never ending hunt for HBFs who stubbornly fail to materialise.

Evening wenches.

Back is improving. I’m making myself get up and move about at regular intervals. Walking round town this morning definitely helped. DS2 did come with me but then decided actually he didn’t want any clothes so we didn’t bother with that.

<squidge> re Fräsan Wicked. Her still behaving like a normal cat is good.

Definite win re not cooking Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/05/2026 21:20

Evening all.

Fingers crossed for Frasen continuing to be a happy normal cat for as long as possible. Quality of life is everything.

I didn't do the secret tour thing - it's next week. Fortunately I realised before I turned up. Grin That was why I went back to bed this morning, which meant I had no time to go into town before picking up DS. I'll have to do that tomorrow.

The weather has been warm all day, but it's cold outside now. I did do the chicken coop though, having checked the weather forecast. Tomorrow is cooler and cloudy.

Excellent result on not cooking Apricot - DS helped cook this evening Shock - it may have been a revision displacement activity.

<cwtches> ww Frasan is lucky to have you as her minion

Yay for realising before turning up Helen 😁 I love that sort of thing. It's clearly good hunting weather at the moment - when I had that headache last week, Chonk kindly bought me a small mouse.

You're right apricot 'new and improved' often isn't. Fingers crossed the ibuprofen will bring some benefit to MrA.

We should devise the Wench Method for exercise motivation letus, strategically placed attractions to encourage us to move around - have just watched an episode of Miranda and am thinking I'd walk quite a long way to see Tom Ellis 😁

Spent a very lazy day pottering around the house and garden. Put some support in for a couple of roses and managed to not get too scratched - count that as a win. New neighbours seem nice, there are more of them than have ever lived in that house - it's weird actually hearing noises. Not that they're loud, just that I've got used to almost complete silence over the years.

LetUsPrey · 10/05/2026 07:59

Morning wenches.

😁 at almost being a week early Helen

It’s very important to have a target to work towards Fancy. Can’t beat a bit of pottering.

Flapjacks are cooling and the ironing’s done. Usual Sunday ahead I hope.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/05/2026 08:00

Morning all. It's looking cloudy and rainy here, though that wasn't forecast yesterday. Rainfall radar shows a band of drizzle forecast over us this morning. Cloud cover is forecast to be pretty constant. (SportingCompetition is happening, so I'm checking for what to wear!)

KillerKitty had an uneaten rat stashed in his larder this morning - that got lobbed into the field next door. He's also been a lot better with the kittens for the pat few days - less aggressive and briefly in the sae room as him without incident. Baby steps...

Putting supports in for roses doesn't sound very lazy Fancy! Shock at actual noise from neighbours!

Hope every wench has a good day.

Afternoon. Quite a nice day. I went to post a birthday card in the postbox in the next road and it was a bit cooler but not too bad. They collect at 9.00am now so if you want something to get there on or before a certain day you have to post the day before you normally would, unless you're an early riser, which I'm not. Confused

Eeek at uneaten rat but good that he's getting used to the kittens.

Good that the neighbours are nice Fancy, it's always a bit of an apprehension when houses change hands.

<pinches flapjack> I must make some, I've still got your recipe somewhere LetUs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/05/2026 20:49

Evening all. I'm a bad human Sad I stepped back in the kitchen and trod on Slinky's paw. She squawked very loudly - understandably, but seems ok. maybe she'll stop sitting right behind me now

We've had a bit of drizzle, but otherwise, just cloud with a tiny bit of sun. I think there's rain forecast later in the week. It hasn't been very warm here either.

Flapjacks are a very good idea.

Evening wenches.

Hope SportingCompetition went well Helen. Second the eeek at the rat.

You should definitely make the flapjacks Apricot. If I can whip them up successfully, anywench can.

Usual Sunday. Back’s still troubling me so I might see if I can get into see physio next week when I’m off.

We’re trying a new programme called Prisoner. Okay so far.

LetUsPrey · Yesterday 06:54

Morning wenches.

Oops at standing on Slinky. They do get in unfortunate places though.

Have woken up to rain. Very Monday. Weird dreams have weirded me out and I’m in a mood.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · Yesterday 09:54

Morning all. We've had a bit of rain, which is a relief for the water butts, though not for my washing, which I'll have to drape about indoors I think.

Urgh. KillerKitty stashed a full grown rabbit this time (so much for me worrying why he wasn't eating his food!) Messy though. In good news, he has now done cautious nose boops with both kittens (then scuttled off looking mildly freaked out).

Planning for an annual village event is causing stress due to unexpected parking issues (usual car park is not available). Sigh Sad I need to work.

Hope *LetUs's back is feeling better today.

ApricotCrush · Yesterday 16:29

Afternoon. Rain this morning but brightened up this afternoon. I went to the post office earlier and there’s a four-way traffic control up the road which took ages to get through. Couldn’t see any work taking place. Hmm

Poor Slinky, but they do get under your feet.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · Yesterday 20:34

Evening wenches.

Back seems better but then again I thought it had improved on Saturday. Have booked in with physio (so I’d better look up the exercises she gave me to do).

Had to revert to Big Coat today and was flipping glad I had when walking across work town this morning.

Awww at the nose boops 😊, although not at the rabbit. That does sound very stressful Helen re the parking.

I think I’d be more surprised if just one wench wasn’t experiencing roadworks.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · Yesterday 22:19

Evening. We have a 40 mph limit for no apparent reason near us. (I think they may be working out of sight under a bridge.)

Today has been mostly work. Weather wasn't great, but not actually much rain at all, so I got the heavier washing dried on the line to 'damp' rather than wet, which was handy.

I've managed not to step on the kittens today. So far. Little sods are still launching themselves up the back of my legs to reach my shoulder though. And my legs look like it. Fortunately the blood from scratches only soaks into the inside on my jeans and joggers - not through to the outside. 'Only'. Pfft. Little gits. I have wreaked my revenge by booking them into the vet for their jobs - see how they like it.

Morning wenches.

That seems a fair trade with the kittens Helen.

Not sure what’s going on with the weather today other than it looks quite blah currently.

I really can’t be bothered with today but apparently hiding under some yarn isn’t an option.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · Today 07:27

Morning all. The weather is blah here as well. The kittens are chaotic. KillerKitty is munching his way through his rabbit still, and the manshapes are in bed. I'm tiiiiiiiiiired.
Maybe talented wenches could knit and crochet clones for us to send off to work while we carry on snoozing?

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · Today 16:46

Afternoon. Nice day so I put the washing out. It started to drizzle so I fetched it in. It’s now sunny.

Lol at Helen’s revenge on the kittens.

We’ve been watching The Cage which was good. We’ll start on TB’s new drama tonight. We’re waiting for someone from Virgin Media to come and sort out the new box which is still causing trouble. They said some time between 4 and 7; it’ll probably be 7. I don’t know what to do about the evening meal. I can’t start cooking until after he’s gone as I don’t know how long he’ll be here. Confused

LetUsPrey · Today 19:51

Evening wenches.

Hope person turned up not long after you’d posted Apricot and everything’s sorted.

I’ve finished Ellis on Channel 5 which was as excellent as ever, This Is Not A Murder Mystery on U&Drama or U&Alibi which was very good and a bit bonkers in places, and Blanca on More4 or something which is in Italian with subtitles - also very good and even more bonkers. To top it all off, the new series of Panda has started (French with subtitles) which is one of my favourites 😁

I’ll get BigSis on to the knitted figures. My replicas would look like we’d had dodgy facial plastic surgery.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · Today 22:01

Evening all. We had a couple of showers this afternoon, and I think it may have been raining a bit this morning. I've lost track.

Hope that the box is working properly now Apricot, with minimal fuss and disruption. (I mean, it would be good if it had worked without having to call someone out!)
