Gah! I've just typed a long message and lost it. FFS Mumsnet.

Start again. Afternoon. A lot of rain overnight, and it's been drizzling all day. I went to Sainsbury's this morning to do a top-up shop as we're going to the caravan tomorrow to put it to bed for the winter. We usually go earlier than this but have only just got round to it. The weather looks pretty awful, but it doesn't matter.

Can't remember what else I typed but hope everyone's had a good day.

Evening all. Dreary weather, but not cold. Work was workish, but busy due to one of those 'can you get me this information by midday' emails. <le sigh> 'This information' involved digging back into committee papers to pull together and audit trail. So that killed a couple of hours. In fact, by the tie I finished work, I'd done a grand total of one thing from my original 'to do 'list, and added two more.

Safe travels tomorrow Apricot <side-eyes> at Mn for eating your post!

LetUsPrey · 12/11/2025 21:00

Evening wenches.

It rained. Did a bit more birthday and Christmas shopping this morning.

Work happened, I came home, wrapped birthday presents, then had a bath. For a very low level cold I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself as I’m at the bunged up head banging face hurting stage. Woe.

Helen that sounds a bit like when people comment that NC and I deal with tasks when we get them - like you, we never know what could come up and be urgent. (That made sense in my head, however see previous paragraph).

Safe travels tomorrow Apricot.

LetUsPrey · 13/11/2025 06:49

Morning wenches.

Rubbish sleep and awake early. How is it “just a cold” can make you feel so crap? Seem to be at the end of it so there’s that. Hope so as we’re out for DS2’s birthday tea on Saturday. It’ll alllll be fine.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/11/2025 09:44

Morning all. We have actual sunshine today Shock. No sign of Northern Lights last night, though I did look, just in case.

Fingers crossed for your cold sodding off LetUs. Fancy - Dr Aramis says you need to stay off your feet and rest your knees, so just lie back and he'll take care of you. <ytl> <snerk>

Hope everyone has a good day. I have one of those days when you never feel like you get a solid block of time to get on with anything. <le sigh>

LetUsPrey · 13/11/2025 20:20

Evening wenches.

Forgot to look for the Northern Lights. Ah well.

Work was there, cold is lingering but nothing dreadful. What was dreadful was yet more fecking roadworks with temporary lights at a major junction which meant it took me two hours to get home. Ten miles. Bit tired now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/11/2025 22:19

OMG LetUs - 2 hours Shock That's proper shite Sad

Apparently there were Northern Lights last night, but it looks like they were the sort that aren't really visible other than through a camera. Certainly not going to be anything visible tonight - we have rain. We've also had power cuts so I'll keep it short.

Night all!

LetUsPrey · 14/11/2025 06:58

Morning wenches.

Power cuts do not sound fun Helen.

Am hoping that Friday traffic will be a bit lighter generally. No need to worry about next week just yet.

DS2 has had toothache for a few days which he decided to mention yesterday. Hopeful it’s a wisdom tooth coming through and nothing more serious but let’s just add that to the list <nto> of things to think about.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/11/2025 07:14

Morning all. Raaaaaaaain. Daaaaaaaaaark.I don't know if it's been raining all night - it was every time I woke up, but I haven't been outside to peer at the gauge - no point in try to feed the chickens if I can't see them yet!

Fingers crossed for Mini-LetUs' tooth and the traffic. DS will have to brave the weather and the traffic via bus this morning - mine should be fine I hope, unless there's flooding on route. Hope that the caravan is going to bed nicely, without requests for 'one more story' and glasses of water Grin

Weirdly bonkers dream about staying at Chateau Fancy with unfinished bathrooms and not knowing what room I was meant to be in. Also finding a body in next door's driveway while I was there walking a dog. Shock (I don't have a dog, or walk one Hmm )

Have a good day all!

ApricotCrush · 14/11/2025 16:05

Afternoon wenches. We arrived yesterday afternoon after a mostly uneventful journey except for roadworks and a few suicidal pheasants. Beautiful weather but today we have a howling gale and rain lashing down. I don’t think we’ll be going far.

Oh gosh LetUs, two hours, it didn’t take us much longer to get here!

Shock at finding a body while walking your dog Helen.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/11/2025 22:18

Evening all. It has rained and rained and rained. And then rained a bit more. Nothing torrential, just steady and quite heavy. There was 4cm by 1pm. Anyway. Um. Yes, traffic was foul this morning. Work was busy all day, and we have watched Taskmaster. The manshapes did not go out being sporty.

Nothing very exciting. Oh - there was a tree down in the village! It inconvenienced some dog walkers.

Hope that traffic has been ok for LetUs

LetUsPrey · 15/11/2025 07:48

Morning wenches.

Set off super early yesterday, still took an hour and a half to get to work. Marginally less to get home. Checked other routes and they were just as bad. Just keep telling myself it’s only another few days, for this lot of roadworks anyway. Work was the usual.

Wind and rain yesterday evening and night. Quite pleased DS2 said he wanted to give SportingActivity a miss, although not pleased it was because his tooth’s bothering him. If it gets no better, will have to give the dentist a ring next week.

Must see buttons on the baby cardigan so I can get a few things taken to the community tearoom. Might also make the effort to buy the family Christmas cards. Out for chippy tea tonight for early DS2 birthday celebrations.

Have super days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 15/11/2025 16:05

Afternoon. Terrible night with awful wind and rain. This morning the caravan was in the middle of a lake. It always floods round here because we’re close to an estuary but I think that’s the worst we’ve seen it. However today has been beautiful and I’ve been sunbathing in the lounge with the doors open. Crazy!

I wanted to look for Christmas cards while we were here, but we couldn’t go out yesterday and local big town is a nightmare to park on a Saturday so I’ll have to try somewhere else when we get back.

Hope everyone’s had a good day. Oh, and have a lovely evening out LetUs.

FancyFancy · 15/11/2025 16:16

Afternoon - very gloomy here, but at least it's not still chucking it down. I did remember to check for the Northern Lights, but it's been pretty cloudy here most nights, so don't think there would have been much to see.

Safe travels apricot & fingers crossed for your cols & DS's toothache buggering off.

Well at last that bonkers dream had some tenuous connection to reality helen - the bathroom bit, not the dead body bit Grin. The bathrooms are very nearly done though - chap arrived this morning to do the last bits on his list, I'm still waiting for today's delivery of the new unit mind <side eyes Evri> I also still haven't decided on blinds <procrastinates> and the shower can't be used for a few days while the sealant fully dries out.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/11/2025 18:57

Evening all. The rain has mostly stopped now, through it's still a bit mizzly. Just as well, since I went on a spur of the moment theatre trip to LocalCity which turned out to be full, and I did a full circuit of the inner ringroad before parking bloody miles away and having to hotfoot it to the theatre. I was too late to get in and I had to watch on a TV in the foyer until there was a break they were happy to let me (and several other disguntled-and-swearing-about-traffic) people in. theatre was good though, I'm glad I went. <side-eyes at manshapes who didn't want to go>

Everything is still very wet, though no floods fortunately. Shock at Apricot's marooned caravan, perched in a lake!

Hurrah for nearly-finished bathrooms Fancy. <pinches chip from LetUs> Hope that Wicked is having a good weekend.

LetUsPrey · 16/11/2025 07:18

Morning wenches.

The flooding at the caravan sounds awful Apricot, but then sunbathing the following days sounds lovely!

Bet the new bathroom looks ace Fancy, even without the final bits.

That traffic sounds especially crappy Helen. Pleased theatre was good when you got to go in.

Chippy tea was delicious but I could DS2 was a bit fed up because of his tooth. Poor thing, although he did say at one point he thought it was getting better. I don’t remember my wisdom teeth coming through, so I don’t know what that says 😁

Usual Sunday with added birthday celebrations so it should be a lovely day.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/11/2025 09:21

Morning all. It's grey outside, but dry - hurrah! No plans - I feel a bit sore, presumably from yesterday's unexpected running about. DH was complaining last night about aching from SportingActivity, so I suspect it will be a day of doing as little as possible while we hobble about the house wincing! I ought to prep more apples.

I hope MiniLetUs's tooth calms down for him. My wisdom teeth were taken out under general anaesthetic because there wasn't enough room for them, DH has one that grumbles from time to time - I think I had the better deal.

LetUsPrey · 16/11/2025 19:06

Evening wenches.

A lovely usual Sunday with added bath’n’book. DS2’s had a good day (with a bit of a grumpy wobble in the middle). We’ve said we’ll do his cake after dinner but I’m well stuffed with pizza so I won’t be having any until later

I shall make sure the cupboards are properly stocked with various ointments and lotions for you Helen. I’m afraid MrHelen will have to go elsewhere.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/11/2025 21:01

Evening. My little legs are tiiiiiired. Quads and shins are protesting. I think the ointments etc need a properly qualified HBF to apply them as well - I'm sure there'll be one in the Tav somewhere. Grin

I made a tiny dent in the apples, and then DH brought a load more windfalls in - FFS. I was leaving the rest of them for the birds - there were four blackbirds on one of the trees this morning.

What sort of cake is that then LetUs? <eyes-up cake>

I might head off for a soak in the bath.

LetUsPrey · 17/11/2025 06:58

Morning wenches.

It was chocolate fudge cake Helen. There’s a bit left, I’ll leave it on the bar.

Hope the soak helped.

Cars are apparently iced over but I can’t see outside properly yet to check.

Suppose I’d better get on with the day.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/11/2025 07:19

Morning. Chocolate fudge cake for breakfast - yum!

It's mostly clear skies and a few large clouds zooming about. I'm not sure we call this a 'moderate breeze' given that it caught a window I'd opened for IdiotKitty and pushed it wide open, but as long as it stays dry the washing should get dried (and cold).

Couldn't get to sleep last night, so I may be whinging about a headache later.

Best crack on, have a good day all. <pours Brew all round>

ApricotCrush · 17/11/2025 15:42

Afternoon. We came back yesterday evening with piles of washing and all the stuff we bring back at the end of the season. It’s a lovely day today but very cold. There was a frost overnight. First wash load is done and hopefully drying.

Yay for nearly finished bathrooms Fancy.

Hope DS2’s toothache is improving LetUs. DGS has just had braces fitted and he’s in pain and having trouble eating at the moment. My wisdom teeth never came through. There are two at the bottom in the gums but I haven’t got any at the top. Confused

Hope everyone’s had a good day and Helen didn’t get a headache.

<pinches chocolate fudge cake>

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/11/2025 18:10

OMG! Chocolate fudge cake! I really want some cake now <drools>

Been busy planning upcoming London trip, downloading apps, looking for restaurants etc. I love looking at Google Maps in an area to see what kind of restaurants or cafés they have in the neighbourhood.

Boo for lack of sleep Helen Sad

Yikes at flooded caravan site Apes Shock

Glad the bathroom is nearly done Fancy Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/11/2025 19:04

Evening all. I did not get a headache Shock despite feeling rough as when I got up. I have worked and stuff. I am now eating chocolate.

DS has self diagnosed himself with asthma because at tonight's sporting activity he was tired after being made to run laps as a warm-up. I tried not to laugh too much and pointed out that he's not got asthma, he's just got no cardio fitness levels since most of his sporting stuff doesn't involve running. He won't be told of course.

I got two loads of washing through the machine in the end, which is mostly dry-to-damp. Speaking of which, it hasn't all be hung up to air...
