<drums fingers> still waiting for Saturday's delivery. My apologies to Evri, it's actually Yodel. My delivery slot was 3.30 to 5.30. At 5.15 the van was 5 miles away with 19 deliveries ahead of mine. In the 4 hours since it has travelled a couple of miles the other side of me and delivered 12 items. I am not hopeful of a delivery tonight, the fuckers.

Yikes at the flooding apricot, that must be a bit scary!

LetUsPrey · 18/11/2025 06:50

Morning wenches.

Flipping cold yesterday, especially the wind. Going to have to get a scarf out.

<glares> at lack of delivery at Fancy’s.

Oh MiniHelen 😊 at self-diagnosis of asthma. Listen to your mother, she is wise.

I did a wash but it went on the heated airer.

Sounds very exciting Wicked!

Traffic still quite shit, but it seemed like a bit of a dream to get home in an hour and a quarter last night!

DS2’s tooth seems better, but he and DH both have my cold.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/11/2025 15:39

Afternoon all. It's we had the overnight frost, and then an orange ball of sun looking very scenic when it rose. It's clouded over now, but still cold.

Trip planning is always fun Wicked - more so when you're planning your trip and not having to plan the family holiday that no-one can agree on Hmm I always want to do fun stuff in London but never seem to get round to it. Walking tours and such like.

Hope that Yodel have eventually turned up at Fancy's house with the delivery intact, and that LetUs's manshapes aren't being drama queens over the cold.

ApricotCrush · 18/11/2025 16:54

Afternoon. Nice day but very cold. My car went in for its service today. It had to be there for 9 o'clock which meant we hit all the traffic (not literally). Also a shock to the system having to get up so early. Hmm

This afternoon we have been peeling, coring and stewing apples again. This time I've made some apple muffins for DH to take for the golfers and a small apple cake for us. Same mixture but diffferent containers. Also a bowl of apples so we're alright for puddings for a while.

Love the way WW appears at the mention of chocolate fudge cake. Grin Very exciting planning your trip.

Very annoying having to wait in for a delivery that doesn't come Fancy, hope it's arrived now.

Also hope FamilyLetUs's colds aren't too bad and MiniHelen's 'asthma' has gone away.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/11/2025 22:23

Evening all. Coooooooooooold. And also my computer is being an arse and the touch pad is completely erratic. FFS.

Hope the car didn't need much work Apricot

I have made apple cake <sticks cake tin on the bar>

LetUsPrey · 19/11/2025 07:24

Morning wenches.

<puts Weetabix back in the tin>
<reaches for an apple muffin and a slice of apple cake>
Fruit for breakfast is very healthy.

To their credit, DH and DS2 were not at all dramatic and just carried on. Their colds seem much improved so that’s good.

Hope all went well with the car service Apricot.

Exciting evening here last night watching the international football 😁 which went well for a change for DH

Supposed to be last day of the mega delay-inducing roadworks. I’m quite excited really 😁

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/11/2025 07:40

Morning all. Fingers crossed for no overrunning roadworks LetUs!

We have rain and cloud - none of the snow that the radio is getting excited about. (Good.) Running a bit late though - have a lovely day all!

ApricotCrush · 19/11/2025 17:16

Afternoon. Lovely day here, but cold. No snow, in spite of the headline that the UK is going to be 'blanketed' in it and the MET office has issued an amber warning. I don't know why they have to be so dramatic about the weather, it happens every year. Confused

Nothing had to be done to the car, although they did say that the clutch is worn, so that will be another expense in the not too distant future.

Hope your roadworks have gone tomorrow LetUs.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 19/11/2025 18:54

Evening wenches.

They’ve gone! The roadworks are done and the temporary lights are gone! Can’t tell you how giddy I was when I saw that on the way home. There’s still a road closed and another set sprung up on an alternative route, but I can avoid that fairly easily (famous last words).

No snow or ice here thankfully but blimey it’s gone chilly, and the wind is biting.

Popped into community tearoom on the way home to see if they wanted DS1’s old (only a couple of years) Christmas tree as he and his girlfriend have got a new one. They’d just been saying they could do with another, smaller tree to put up and in I walked 😁. I felt all warm and happy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/11/2025 20:51

Evening all. Hurrah for the finished roadworks! And for the well timed Christmas Tree. It's also been cold here and I had thundersleet on the way home Shock two massive flashes that gave me an unwelcome jump while I was driving Confused plus the road went rather white where the tyres weren't grinding it to mulch.

Work was full of spreadsheet headaches Sad I left off with a note in bright red on one telling to 'redo all Col.I to zero Col U' and other such cryptic messages that will hopefully help me remember what I'm doing when I come back to it.

Now I am slumped on the sofa feeling a bit bleugh with a sore stomach - woe is me, tiny violin, etc.

FancyFancy · 19/11/2025 20:53

Well the delivery finally arrived - fortunately not while I was on a works Teams call Grin I spent a pleasant evening yesterday flatpack building. Very satisfying apart from the putting on the doors bit which was fiddly

Ah, I think we had your snow apricot & helen. And we have ALL the roadworks too. In fact one set of those were responsible for the mains water being off in NextDoorVilllage for a bit today. Living the dream.

Yay for tree donations, apple related baking <drools> and fingers crossed for computers behaving themselves. I have actually decided on the blinds I want & ordered them before I change my mind.

LetUsPrey · 20/11/2025 06:48

Morning wenches.

I don’t like the sound of thundersleet at all Helen. Hope you’re feeling a lot better this morning.

Flatpack building is so satisfying 😁. Urgh to even more roadworks but hurrah for blinds decision.

Looks quite chilly outside. Shopping on the way to work and then work where I already know there’s a horrid task awaiting. NC’s off today and did her best to finish it but being given something complicated about 30 minutes before you leave whilst you’re already doing something else is not terribly reasonable.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/11/2025 09:07

Morning all. X-post with Fancy there - glad to hear that the bathroom is nearly done and lol at the 'ordered before I changed my mind' Grin
It's still cold enough this morning that the sleet is still lying frozen on the grass, but I don't think we had a frost.

Good luck with the HorridTask LetUs - fingers crossed for it not being as bad as expected!

ApricotCrush · 20/11/2025 17:10

Afternoon. Beautiful sunny day but very cold.

Lovely about the Christmas tree donation LetUs. Our tree is over 50 years old. We have a picture of DH with toddler DS and baby DD in front of it and we recreated it a couple of years ago. Different house, different decorations, same tree, nearly 50 years on.

Yay for roadworks gone and delivery finally arriving, but boo for thundersleet and annoying spreadsheets.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 20/11/2025 21:22

Evening wenches.

Blimey that wind is chilly!

That’s so lovely about your tree Apricot 😊.

The horrid task has not been completed, there’s documents still not available, but it ended up having lots of unrelated tasks of urgh to keep it company allllll day. Quite knackered now.

LetUsPrey · 21/11/2025 07:10

Morning wenches l

Friday hurrah!

I don’t expect today to be any less stressful but hey ho (ho hey!).

Got out the various bags of hats, scarves and gloves the other day. Must sort through them as I’m sure there’s a fair bit we don’t need anymore.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/11/2025 07:39

Morning all. Cold and clear and frosty. Brrr. Though no snow. Hurrah for Friday, though boo for the continuing task or urgh LetUs. I have to revisit my confusing spreadsheets today. also urgh. And DS has only just got up, so today will be a 'tired and grumpy' day for him.

Lovely about the christmas tree photos Apricot - I did a re-creation photo with Baby DS lying on the bed with DH - 'baby' DS being taller than DH now! Grin

ApricotCrush · 21/11/2025 17:03

Afternoon. Another lovely sunny day but the frost on the lawn only melted where the sun hit it, so still very cold.

Hope the horrid tasks and confusing spreadsheets have resolved themselves.

Have a good evening all. Wine

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/11/2025 21:26

Evening all. Brrrrr. Todays' excitement was a long lunch so I could take my boots to be re-soled. I pulled them off by the heel the other day, and the heel came away from the boot Shock so it's all being stuck back together.

Other than that - cold. The sun was nice when it appeared, but mostly it was cold, and there was much spreadsheeting done.

Hope that LetUs had an ok day despite urgh jobs.

LetUsPrey · 22/11/2025 08:14

Morning wenches.

Yesterday was much the same. The urge to shout “would you all just fuck off” was strong. No matter because Friday.

😁 at recreated photo of DH and NotSoMiniHelen.

You’ve reminded me I need to take my shoes to the menders Helen. I’ll put them by the front door now!

Meeting BestFriend this morning then into village centre for various errands including taking shoes to the menders!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/11/2025 13:40

Afternoon all. It's a bit chilly, but I've ben out in the garden doing tidying and cleaning out the chickens <awards self Star for productivity>
In thrilling news, I've ordered a new hoover (I know - try to control yourselves!) - DH wanted to replace the dyson like-for-like, but I found a Shark on offer (hurrah for black friday and new customer offers!) for a lot less, and since I'm the one who does 99% on the hoovering...
We also need a new microwave because the on/off buttons don't always work. Isn't adulting fun?

Hope that Wicked is having a fun time and everywench has a good day!

ApricotCrush · 22/11/2025 17:09

Afternoon. Rain all day, very miserable. I've finished scanning the photos but now I've got to get them all into chronological order within the albums. I did a lot of them as I went along, but there's still quite a lot to do.

Nothing else going on here.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 22/11/2025 19:52

Evening wenches.

Rain but definitely not as cold.

Lovely chat with BestFriend. Mender couldn’t mend my shoes 😔. He said they used to do that type of repair but it’s not cost effective for them anymore. Bought a book from LovelyLocalBookshop for a December birthday. Usual stuff at home including finished one of the knitting projects that uses dark yarn and I can only knit it with proper daylight. Rounded off with bath’n’book.

That type of adulting is so much fun isn’t it Helen? DH wants a new air fryer (which I’ve been suggesting we get for a while). He’s been havering and wavering but, he’s the one that uses it, so I’ve resisted the urge to say “just bloody well choose one!”

Well done on the photo organising Apricot. You’d be able to have quite the conversation with LittleSis who is similarly organised 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/11/2025 21:38

Oh no :( I hate it when shoes can't be mended, it's like - it's a heel, stick a new one on! But they can't because it's all moulded rubber Sad
Well done on the photos Apricot - it must be an easier job to sort them than scan them!

I'm vaguely thinking about going on the stepper (because I feel I ought to) and also having a bath, or just going to bed and getting an early night. Decisions, decisions... <le sigh>

LetUsPrey · 23/11/2025 08:59

Morning wenches.

Rain. So much rain.

Hope you got a bath or early night Helen.

Ironing is done, I expect the rest of the day to pass as usual. No dramas and nothing extra would be very nice thank you.

Have lovely days wenches.
