Morning wenches.

Poor lost LittleChicken 😔

All these roadworks. Did the various companies get lots of extra Christmas and birthday money from a distant relative or something?

Wind has subsided to levels of quite breezy. Sun’s trying to shine though so that’s pleasant.

<lies on lounger on warm beach, snoozing>

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/03/2026 07:55

Hurrah! LittleChicken came toddling up the garden to meet me this morning. So she was obviously hunkered down somewhere and not bothered about going to see what these people with torches were doing last night. So that's good news anyway.

Also, the wind has dropped and it's not raining. More 'hurrah!'

Roadworks... hmmm. It is year end and everyone's on 'use it or lose it' with their budgets, so that might account for frantic activity. Or the roads are in a state and they're just trying to get stuff done. Who knows.

ApricotCrush · 13/03/2026 17:15

Afternoon. Quite a nice day with some sun but still cold. A warm beach sounds amazing right now.

Nothing going on here. DH didn’t play golf as his dodgy shoulder is playing him up. Probably caused by the exercises he’s doing to help it. Hmm

Thank goodness LittleChicken returned after her adventure.

Hope Fancy’s compost is drying out.

Have a good evening all.

Evening wenches.

Hurrah for safe return of LittleChicken!

Wind dropped but goodness me the rain is making up for it.

<sends emergency physio to assist with MrApricot’s shoulder>

It might help if the various different services who were digging up roads could liaise with each other and perhaps not clash on roads that are close to each other. I’m sure they actually do but gosh it doesn’t feel like it.

Work can get in the bin but it’s Friday so that’s fine. Have been on full SportingActivity lift duty again.

Hope all is well with Wicked and Fräsan.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/03/2026 21:41

Evening all.

Physio exercises are so tricky Apricot - DH has the same with exercises that really hurt, to sort out a tendon that hurts. And my knees ache - I can do exercises, but I don't know if the standard exercises that I'd do are making it worse of better!

LetUs - can tell you that they really don't liaise with each other. Not at all. Or hardly ever. It's ridiculous. Utilities are meant to give councils 6 weeks notice of works so the council can sort out diversions etc. - unless there is an emergency. Our local water company classes almost all their works as emergencies, so there's never any notice. Then you get the clash between National Highways maintaining roads, and the council maintaining roads, and clashing roadworks <deep, pained sigh> One road got completely relaid by National Highways, so all the scheduled local works were put on hold for the duration, which meant that when the first lot were done, all the rest of the backed-up local works got started. (Have you been bored to sleep now? Grin )

Anyway, hurrah for Friday!

LetUsPrey · 14/03/2026 06:48

Morning wenches.

As I suspected Helen! (The roadworks bit not the boring bit - never boring)

It’s supposed to be quite nice today but so far it’s 0° and frosty.

Lots of tidying to do today. Also I’ve decided to crochet something for LovelyMIL for Mother’s Day. Is only a tiny thing so it’ll be fine but er er…. actually it might take ages 😁

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/03/2026 09:59

Morning all. We had a frost overnight too.

I'm imaging LetUs crocheting at the speed of light now - fingers moving faster than you can see them!

I'm also meant to be going out in half an hour so I need to get my act together...

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 14/03/2026 12:24

Raining here, Fräsan is asleep on the couch, so sweet ❤

It's been a bit of a drama going on here last weekend, a tenant got her lease terminated and sent death threats to nice landladies. Her ex also showed up banging on their door and threatened to burn down the farm and also kicked in a gate. So much for tranquility on the countryside Confused

I'm the same Letus and Apes, always waking up around 5 in the morning and can't go back to sleep.

MrVanDriver kan go <bleep> himself.

Yay for return of lost LittleChicken. Might be a movie in this, "Return of The LittleChicken", "The Chicken Coop Strikes Back" etc. OMG! I'm so funny, I don't even know how I come up with these things?!

ApricotCrush · 14/03/2026 17:33

Afternoon. Frosty this morning but a lovely day. I opened the window in DD’s old room and got a bit of actual sun on me. It was quite hot.

Roadworks are a real nightmare. We’ve had new roads laid round here in the past and a few weeks later they’re being dug up again by one of the utilities. Confused

Hope the crocheting is going well LetUs, you do put yourself under pressure.

Gosh WW that sounds really scary. Hope it’s all calmed down. <snort> at The Chicken Coop Strikes Back.

LetUsPrey · 14/03/2026 20:57

Evening wenches.

I overestimated the time it would take for the crochet gift and it was easier than expected so that was good.

Rest of the day has been housework and washing and errands (which involved cake).

Crikey Wicked, your poor landladies! Hope it’s all calmed down now and everyone’s okay. Love the film titles 😁

DS1’s old bedroom gets like that Apricot when it’s sunny. I’ve occasionally gone in there and just lay down in a patch of sunlight 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/03/2026 21:34

Evening all. Today I have been out and had hot chocolate with a friend, and did shopping. Also general house stuff. The sun has been nice, but ti's also been cold. DS has been under the weather with a sore throat - hopefully not tonsillitis. IdiotKitty is bored and killing bit of screwed up paper.

Aww at sleepy Fräsan , LOL at the Adventures of LittleChicken, and eek at the ex-tenant. That last one sounds a bit scary and not what you want when you're trying to enjoy a quiet rural life. I think we should add an orangery to the Tav, to catch the sun and get some heat. Glad that the crochet gift went well. Hope that Fancy has had a nice day as well (with no van wankers).

LetUsPrey · 15/03/2026 07:08

Morning wenches.

That sounds a jolly nice way to spend a day Helen. Hope MiniHelen’s throat doesn’t develop into tonsillitis.

Ironing done. Usual Sunday with added DS1 and girlfriend. Might do bath’n’book later this afternoon.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/03/2026 09:27

Morning all. Lovely sunny day (and quite a hard frost overnight).

I'm on the sofa squinting at the paralymics on TV - just seen a completely blind skiing come down through the slalom. Oooh - and one of the guides just crashed out, that's a new one Sad Awful flat light to be skiing in for visually impaired people - bad enough when you can see. Not that the light affected the completely blind one!

ApricotCrush · 15/03/2026 16:30

Afternoon. Rain for most of the day.

Happy Mother’s Day to DC mums and cat mums. The DC came round earlier with cards and flowers which was nice,

That must be so nerve-wracking skiing downhill when blind, even with guides. Shock

Hope everyone’s had a nice day.

LetUsPrey · 15/03/2026 18:21

Evening wenches.

I’ve really found a sort of joy (brain will not find correct word) in watching these winter sports. No intention at all of giving them a go myself.

Lovely day. Saw my mum and then LovelyMIL. Excellent cards from both boys and thoughtful gifts, including vodka, Lego, and a craft barn gift voucher.

Finished a massive crochet blanket (at least it’s the biggest I’ve done, single bed size more or less) and am now ignoring the little fiddly projects that I could do with finishing by deciding what to start next 😁

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/03/2026 21:13

Evening all. As a special mother's day treat we have watched Top Gun Hmm I spent a lot of it in the kitchen making pudding because Tom Cruise is just irritating most of the time.

We've had mostly good weather until about 4:30 when the rain started. It's been windy though - I shelved my plans for going up a ladder to scrub a leaking-gutter-stain on the wall, and went for a garden centre mooch and a short walk instead. (Then it rained on me.)

Just stropped and made the manshapes stop being noisy so I can start watching The Other Bennet Sister.

LetUsPrey · 16/03/2026 06:13

Morning wenches.

You didn’t strop Helen, you asserted yourself. I’ve recorded it because I went for a bath. I watched Ellis yesterday though. Excellent.

We had the wind and rain combo last night. Forecast for good weather for the week from tomorrow though.

Come on the. Monday, let’s be nice to each other and get through the day.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/03/2026 08:04

Morning all. If I didn't strop LetUs, then I grumpily asserted myself. D went off to do revision and in a surprising turn of events, DH said he enjoyed it Shock, though he was very Mr Darcy about it - despite his expectations/better judgement etc Grin

The rain blew through last night to leave us with clear skies and a frost, and it's bright and sunny. Fingers crossed for a civilised Monday and no horrendous traffic jams. And no arsey colleagues.

ApricotCrush · 16/03/2026 17:07

Afternoon. Cloudy day with occasional showers. Yes, brightening up from tomorrow so I’ll have to sort the washing out.

Lol at Top Gun as a Mother’s Day treat. I forgot The Other Bennet Sister but will look for it on the iPlayer. I’ve got too much stuff backing up and will have to make a list. Football again tonight. Hmm

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/03/2026 20:40

Evening all. Mostly nice weather today, though a bit of rain this evening. Work was done, and a bit of gardening. I seem to be between freelance jobs, and I'm fairly sure that the pending ones are going to land at the same time <sigh>

LetUsPrey · 16/03/2026 20:41

Evening wenches.

Rain. So much rain. Work was the usual.

😁 At the Darcyesque review. I think it’ll be weekend before I watch it (in peace).

We’ve also got the football on. Things may improve Apricot 🤞🏻

LetUsPrey · 17/03/2026 06:18

Morning wenches.

Things did improve a little Apricot!

I’m a bit excited because I’ve got a wash ready to go outside 😁 I suspect this will be one of the highlights of the day.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/03/2026 07:30

Morning all. I tried to get to bed early last night but I'm still tiiiired. <le sigh> It's dull and overcast outside - everyone back under the duvet. (I have EarlyMorningExercise - urgh.)

Have a lovely day all - work and traffic permitting, etc

ApricotCrush · 17/03/2026 16:37

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day, the washing dried on the line and is now put away.

Things did improve a little LetUs but not enough. We were unlucky but we can no longer rely on luck. Sad

Hope everyone’s had a good or at least reasonable day.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/03/2026 20:04

Evening. It was mostly sunny here today. I had an exciting Hmm paperwork session (chucking stuff out mostly) and some gardening. No washing done - will do that on Thursday.

DH has just suggested watching another Bennet Sister Shock
